When it says you cannot have 3 of the same type of weapon does it mean a normal weapon and a twinlinked weapon?

Can Tau battlesuits throught trickery or whatever have 2 of the same weapon? one normal and one twinlinked? they are not the same wargear item; but they do take up the 3 allotted slots however you can get a hardwired multitracker.

No, you cannot do that. If you have a twin linked weapon ("counts as" 2 weapons) you cannot take another of the same as a Single Weapon, because then you would have 3 of the same weapon. You can take a Different Weapon as a Single however.

If you take one of a weapon, count it as a single weapon.

If you take two of a weapon, count it as a twinlinked weapon

You may not take 3 of a weapon.

You may not take that suit layout you posted. Give him a targetting array or a flamer instead.

But you could take TL plasma, then take TL burst cannons, right?

No, because that would take four hardpoints when you only have three.

A Battlesuit has 3 'hard points' where a single weapon or support system can be mounted.
You may take each weapon once or twice, (providing you have the hardpoints). A single instance of the weapon counts as a single weapon. Two instances of the same weapon count as a twin-linked weapon.

Two TL weaps would take 4 Hardpoints, which you don't have room for.
Some battlesuit support systems for Shas'vre/higher can be 'hard-wired' - directly shoved into the brain of the pilot - which means they don't take a hardpoint.

I WISH this was possible.

No, it just says you "must" take 3 battlesuit weapon or support systems. Doesn't say you can't take more. I remember the previous codex saying they had 3 hard-points, but I can't find it in this one.

Which is correct.
You cannot have a TL missile pod and a plasma rifle.
Not that you would want to anyway. But still, it's illegal.

Huh? Page 53 contains No Rules at all. What you are suggesting is the same as people trying to claim that Daemonhunters work against Daemons, you are using fluff as rules. Also, on page 53, it says they can have 2 and a Support, it does not say they must. The rules say you can have 3 Weapon or Support systems. So you can take 3 Weapons or 3 Support Systems or a 2/1 or a 1/2 mix.

No, you cannot. The Rules say you must Select THREE Weapon or Support Systems. Exactly 3. 1 is not enough, nor is 2. 4 is too many and 5 is RIGHT OUT!
