When it says you cannot have 3 of the same type of weapon does it mean a normal weapon and a twinlinked weapon?
Can Tau battlesuits throught trickery or whatever have 2 of the same weapon? one normal and one twinlinked? they are not the same wargear item; but they do take up the 3 allotted slots however you can get a hardwired multitracker.
So can you have the follow Shas lay out
Missilepod
Twinlinked Missilepod
Hardwired Multitracker
If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.
No, you cannot do that. If you have a twin linked weapon ("counts as" 2 weapons) you cannot take another of the same as a Single Weapon, because then you would have 3 of the same weapon. You can take a Different Weapon as a Single however.

No, because that would take four hardpoints when you only have three.
'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'
- Nemesor Zahndrekh of the Sautekh Dynasty Overlord of the Crownworld of Gidrim
A Battlesuit has 3 'hard points' where a single weapon or support system can be mounted.
You may take each weapon once or twice, (providing you have the hardpoints). A single instance of the weapon counts as a single weapon. Two instances of the same weapon count as a twin-linked weapon.
Two TL weaps would take 4 Hardpoints, which you don't have room for.
Some battlesuit support systems for Shas'vre/higher can be 'hard-wired' - directly shoved into the brain of the pilot - which means they don't take a hardpoint.
No, it just says you "must" take 3 battlesuit weapon or support systems. Doesn't say you can't take more. I remember the previous codex saying they had 3 hard-points, but I can't find it in this one.

It says you "must" take 3 battlesuit weapons or support systems
It does not say:
You may take 3 battlesuit weapons or support systems
You must take up to 3 battlesuit weapons or support systems
You must take 3 or more battlesuit weapons or support systems
You MUST take 3. No more, no less. You may not take more. How is this not clear? Do you need every single little possibility drilled into your head with small, simple words?
You have no other options.
3 weapons/support systems.
no more.
no less.
not 2.
not 4.
not 15.
not 3.5.
3 and only 3.

FIVE IS RIGHT OUT!
On topic: I think he may have mentally inserted an 'at least' between 'must take' and '3'.
"...and must select three battlesuit weapons systems or support systems."
Are you going to argue that it is three weapon systems or three support systems, not a mix of both, next?
Tl Missile Pods and a Plasma Rifle is legal and not too horrible on a Shas'el (with his acces to hardwired gear).
Just because a rule is somewhere that you don't read does not mean it isn't a rule.
Are you going to argue that because you didn't read the BRB that your infantry can move 24 inches shoot their heavy weapons and still assault?
Of course you're not, because that's not what you said, i was just doing what you did and rewording your post to make it sound silly.

Huh? Page 53 contains No Rules at all. What you are suggesting is the same as people trying to claim that Daemonhunters work against Daemons, you are using fluff as rules. Also, on page 53, it says they can have 2 and a Support, it does not say they must. The rules say you can have 3 Weapon or Support systems. So you can take 3 Weapons or 3 Support Systems or a 2/1 or a 1/2 mix.

You are making no sense at all.

No, you cannot. The Rules say you must Select THREE Weapon or Support Systems. Exactly 3. 1 is not enough, nor is 2. 4 is too many and 5 is RIGHT OUT!

HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY! NO GWAR! THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE INCORRECT!
I happen to own, have watched twenty times, and love that movie. I am American and damn proud to be, aside from the fact that this last presidential election yielded no possible decent outcome, though hopefully Obama can change my mind.
Hell, I use to crowd around the TV and watch Monty Python's Flying Circus as a child. Don't insult me Gwar, please.

Kidding... Just stressing my point a bit... No one understands sarcasm over the internet, so I apologize for my lack of face Gwar.
