From the rulez:

"The 5th edition rulebook will be in use for all games and will be the definitive guide for all rules."

Does this mean no more rules changes disguised in FAQs?

I don't understand your question.

I believe this is in reference to all basic rules will be 5th edition.

I would also assume the FAQ's on their site are going to be used in relation to 5th ed.

If you have any questions about rules/army lists/etc. I would contact the store your going to be playing at.

The FAQs for the 5th ed rules exist outside of the 5th ed rulebook. The rulebook will be definitive, so are the FAQs for the rulebook still valid for the 'Ard Boyz tourney?

The easiest way to find out is contact GW directly. The person running this event has been posting in the thread under the News and Rumours forum.

Best thing to do is to contact your local TO.

In my area, we use rules/rules changes/rules interpretations from the FAQ's, so we will be using them in 'Ardboyz. Unless GW put's up an 'Ardboyz FAQ that says not to use FAQ's.

"We at GW want our largest point tournaments to be full of arguing and debate to further illustrate the point that the game is not about the rules but about being a good sport. Never mind that sportsmanship has nothing to do with winning said tournament. If you want clear and concise rules you're playing wrong."

Is that what it means?

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. Most of the rules in the rulebook are pretty clear... and GW just changes rules by making FAQs.

Good to know you know how to use the quote button. Give yourself a cookie

I forgot to drink my koolaid this morning, so we will be running ours using the 5th edition rulebooks, along with codices, and faq's, just like we always play 40k. But I'll be sure to call down to GWHQ and ask them about your interpretation, just to make doubly sure I'm ok with how I'll run ours.

I have a question reguarding last years kill points. I know that dedicated transports do not give away an extra kill point, but what I can't seem to find a ruling on is whether you have to kill the DT in order to get the killl point(s) for the foc slot. Just to make sure we are clear on what I am asking, 10 man marines in rhino, do I only have to kill the 10 marines, or do I have to kill the 10 marines and their rhino?

With all possible due respect, last year don't mean gak. To quote willydstyle who was quoting from the rulez:

"The 5th edition rulebook will be in use for all games and will be the definitive guide for all rules."

That means this year Killpoints as normal. 1 for Squad, 1 for transport.

If they even use kill points, and if they don't make up scenarios like they did last year, that give an alternate version of kill points. Scenarios in the past for 'ardboyz have been fairly non-standard. Depends on who is making them up this year.

Well firstly I live in Ireland, my Flag is just locked to the UK cause I am English.
Second: How do you know I am not in the US right this second for 'Ard Boyz? My Flag is locked, so it wouldn't change
Thirdly: I can post wherever I damn well please.

So Gwar are you going to play in the ard Boyz this year? A simple yes or no will suffice.

I can see the FAQs not being included, though the vast majoity of those are (bad) clarifications rather then real changes to the rules.

On the other hand, Errata are considered official changes to the wording of the book. And therefore I think would be considered as part of 'ard boyz.

Note it also says the TO is the final rules arbitor. So you can't argue against them saying 'but the faq says...'

Actually, the ard boyz rules packet (page 1 right hand column) states
Review the rules of the tournament and your army.
Be sure to check online and bring any FAQs or other
rules updates to avoid any possible rules disputes.

So it would seem ard boyz respects the FAQs.

I'm sure what GW was trying to say was, "And we won't be using the INAT FAQ, BolS FAQ, or similar third-party publication because then we'd have to admit that we have lots of loopholes, unclarity, and inconsistency in our rules."

Hrm, that and the mention IN the ard boyz rules might lead one to conclude, only in this isolated incidence, that Gwar! might be less than his usual 100% not wrong...
