I did not like the GW model coming out so did some extensive conversion on this model to get it to what I wanted. The shins are from Chapter house studios as is the torso, right arm, and left shoulder pad. The rest of the legs are from GW and green stuff and were nothing short of a beotch to remove the upper legs and feet from the Chapterhouse bits. I did not like the "toes" on the feet. The left leg was then converted to a raised stance. The Left arm is the appothicary arm chopped up and converted to add part of a forgeworld GK Dread incinerator. Pricey but it was just laying around hehe. With a little work it actually fit perfectly and the hoses on the apothecary arm actually lined up perfect!! This really turned out like I wanted and looks like I think Vulcans glove should as it is not oversized like the power fist conversions. The right arm is part of the torso but the weapon is the top of a grey knight halberd with brass rod and flowering wire added then the old head of a warmaster dragon as the base. The Cape is a converted Dark Elf cape and the banner pole also comes from the dark elf like with some brass rod added for height. Eventually I will do a banner but I want to get more of the army painted first. Let me know what you think!!

Nice model. I like the painting .... but ....doesn't it look like he jumped out of a comic-book ?

Must be a "counts as vulcan" cause he lacks green.
So where is this paint scheme related to?

Well I got to hand it to you that modeling is very nice, and the painting is outstanding, but I have to agree with everyone else above, the colours are too kaplow in your face

It looks better then the new one coming out, and the paint job is REALLY nice man. It almost looks like you globbed the paint on, and it somehow turned out amazing lol. Very vibrant painting

I like it a lot. The conversion itself is really nice.

The colors are cool, and would look fantastic on the table. There is really no reason why you shouldn't do this, feth the fluff.

Nice Job, I like your ability to turn our bits into a smashing He'stan, the GW one is pretty ugh.

The right leg looks like a mess. I am sorry, but for all the qualities of the paint job and conversion, that is all I can focus on.

I like it a lot, although I will wait and see the GW version in person before deciding if I will convert one or not.
Wouldn't converting a GK have been a little easier?

Fifty good catch . I started on that leg late thursday night and when I started painting again I guess I never went back to finish it hehe.
I went back and touched it up basically by repainting the entire shin. The way the scallops are scultped onto the leg the light plays hell on the highlighting and from one angle it looks fine but when you change your look....the lights change drastically and your blends look wrong hehe. Thanks for the catch!!!

Wouldn't converting a GK have been a little easier?

Yeah but it was not the look I wanted. The only thing on this model that is grey knight is the halberd tip.

There are things about this mini that I really like, and things I really don't like.

Likes:

1) I've seen people paint in this pastel style before. Everything is cool, smooth and muted. I don't know how it's done, and some people will say that it doesn't look grimdark enough for 40K, but I think it's a slick style.

2) You've gone out on a limb with color choice, but it's the sort of out-of-the-box thinking that I admire. Stuff like this gets saved to my hard drive so that I can look at it and get myself out of bog-standard thinking about colors and texture.

Dislikes:

1) The pose is wonky and stilted. His upper body appears to be going in a direction, but his legs refuse to follow.

2) The large, gloved right hand appears to be an obvious cop-out on converting a proper arm. Which is wierd, since I don't think you have a lack of skill in doing so.

Overall, the shortcomings don't overpower a great mini. When you get more accomplished on the army, please post pics!

@armyman-the pose looks a little better in person. The pics seem to make him look like he is short and squatty. He is stepping up on the stone while turned slightly at the hips. It is a pose I tried on someone before making the conversion hehe. The gloved right hand is the arm that is on the chapterhouse arm. I painted that thing about 5 times in 5 different sets of colors before I finally settled on this. Thanks for the comments!!

@Brook-He is a toy hehehe

Overall it is very nice but I am not a fan of the glove on a space marine, and the legs seem off.

I guess you did some GS work on it, the arm I was looking at had some segmented fingers as well as some scales on the part of the glove area near the elbow

Very nice painting and converting, but the colour scheme is...bleh!

Take out one of the main colours and it would look fine, but three competing main colours = busy.

Nick that is straight off your sprue. The gloved arm is the one already attached to the torso and had no scales on it. That would have been cool hehe. Is it possible I got an earlier release of the bit? I dont see the sprue on your website any more so I cant tell if you still sell it or the backpacks any more.

That looks really nice, you did a great job with the painting, and I like the conversion work.

I think for the pose, if you just rotate the right let a little more to the right, it will fix that right up; he would be shifting his weight to lean forward like that, and I think he would turn his foot outward, maybe 30~45 degrees to relieve some torsional stress in his hip area.

Well, I definitely can't fault either your conversion skill or your painting technique, but (personally) I don't like the choice of colours.

They just seem to be a little too much.

But like I said, that's just my opinion. I usually work with more earthy tones and drab greens, so this is a little out of my comfort zone.

Either way, it's an extraordinary model and you should be proud of it.
