I'm making a chapter of Marines called, "Sunpigs". Don't ask why. I don't really know. Sunpigs just came to me one day and I liked the sound of it, so I thought I'd make a novelty Marine chapter.
Pink and yellow and a cute little piggy for the chapter badge.

Here's a TEST Marine to see how the colors look and try out the badge idea. It's just a speed paint with minimal highlighting/shading (just on the pink and the badge).
When I do them for real, I will be basing them in a grassy, muddy scheme. I snapped these pics outside in direct sunlight, so they are a bit washed out.

Take a look and toss me some opinions, would ya?

(I do NOT need advice about highlighting/shading. It is purposefully not done here.)

The under armor and lining on the pink is the GW purple wash (I orget the name). The eyes are also the wash, though they look black here...
Ultimately, there will be plenty of other details added on the real Marines.

I suggest making the yellow areas less orange and more of a bright yellow... like the sun.

I like it. The first pink marines I've seen that don't look so forced, fits well with the yellow. Snout would be awesome too, but I was thinking a snout over the barrel of their weapons would be different too. Imagine a marine with big two handed gun(no idea what marines have for heavy weapons) with a pig snout over the barrel...OR! you could have a whole pig head around the barrel, kinda like the roasted pig on a plate with an apple in it's mouth.

First, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad that, at the very least, I'm not crazy for thinking 'Sunpigs' is a great chapter name. 'Cause I frikkin' LOVE it.

Yeah. That'll be the goal. Tonight, while at work, I'm going to do some yellow highlighting and see where it takes me.

Well, I do like these ideas and I had thought about the curly tail bit. Thing is, I don't want these to actually BE pigs, as intriguing as pigs in power armor may be... Just have a piggy theme. Much like the marines of the Salamanders chapter don't have tails and aren't scaly, just a reptilian theme.


I'm really just trying for a silly look and feel to them. That and a cute piggy face...

Also, I forgot to mention before that these guys are going to be a Movie Marine list. This test dude will be one of the Stunt Doubles, so there will be 9 more just like him. I can't wait to do the Rhino and Razorback...


I'd like to see some more critique and possible suggestions/advice. There's a lot of talent around here and I'd love some input.

I always thought SM helmets had a bit of a pig-like feel to them. If you lengthened the "snout" of it a bit, I think it might work well. If it's not enough of a piggy vibe, you could always GS floppy little ears on them, too. Curly tails might be overkill, but it's always an option if you want to go all-out silly (this IS a novelty chapter, as you stated). I agree about lightening up that yellow/orange, too.

I think you're off to a great start, though. Add some silly details, do your real paintjob, and you'll have an original, silly, AND well-executed army (that I definitely want to see the progress of).

Use pigiron heads, im sure there will be a decent looking one somewhere, and it ties in

For a novelty force, this are actually kinda cool. Love the piggy emblem on the shoulder, and the colors work too.
Now to see these go against the Hello Kitty force...now that would be interesting.

I just recently made the icons and such for the Bunny Marines in DoW. Only wish I could alter the models to have bunny ears.

Pigheads could work as the exhaust things on the backpags ... I mean, since you dont want them to be actual pigs. Otherwise this is ... well definately more awesome than disturbing. Quite frankly I love all of it. The idea, the name the scheme. Made my day.

Sisters of Battle don't like these guys cos they're all a bunch of sexist pigs...
they recently got told off by the inquisition for hogging all the good battles...
they aren't mentioned in the Imperial annals because when the Chapters fought Horus, these little piggies went wee wee wee all the way home...
