So I am in a quandry.
I am in TN and the store I played at just became an incredably unfriedly place to play.
Bit of backstory. The owner went on the stores boards and blasted on of the best playes in the store for winning (and no sadly it wasnt me).
I feel like they dont deserve my business anymore, and at the same time I feel a bit homeless now.
What does one do?

I'd like slightly more backstory than that. But you always have two options.
Suck it up and keep going.
or
Find a new store to game at.

They blasted them?
Hmm... or he blasted them, what does blasted mean?
If you say nay then say nay over and over and over until they either retract their previous shenanigans in the verbal sense and do what is right. You can also find another FLGS, or just play with friends.
Failing having an alternate FLGS or something along those lines, you basically are left with only one option, and you already know what that is, well, if you don't ... just keep playing there and totally block out the moronicry with your super-shield of non-hearing of them.

Sorry was trying to be somewhat vauge.
people were complaining that a very very good player kept winning all the tournements......
instead of handlng it discreatly the owner went on the stores board and tore the player to shreds. instead of handling it in private.
Automatically Appended Next Post: and no the person is very gracius about winning and usualy will sit with you and explain how they beat you and such so that you at least learn what could have been differnt.

Oh, that is not a reason to leave the store though.
So what if the dudes got in trouble for power-gaming in all your tournaments. No biggie, I am sure there was a reason for it. Talk to the manager a bit before you make any rash decisions.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Ooooh boy do I know how that feels.
A little back-story because I am an egotistical troll incredibly nice guy:
I used to "help" run my LFGS on the weekends. By help I mean I ran the place because the owner was a complete n00b at both Wargaming and Running a business.
Everything is going fine. I run the place well, keep it going, and even manage to convince about half his current Playerbase to play 40k.
Then we have an Apoc game, I am acting as GM, as I had more 40k Years under my belt than the rest of the people there put together.
I correct the owner on a Minor Rules call.
He flips out, and bans me.
I haven't been there since.
In short, just leave, don't come back.

Not really come across this before as my FLGS is quite a 'happy place' as far as a shop dedecated to making bigger killier things every day and shouts of WAARRRGGGHHH coming from it can be...
If they are friendly/not that serious tournaments then you could try and get him to put a handicap in place? Or talk to him and explain that some people don't agree with how he is behaving and you wont go if he carries on. A good manager should listen to customers, I think ^_^

Why would you tear a guy to shreds for winning?
If he wins everything and I was the store owner I'd ask him to run a couple of the tourneys to give others a go.
There has to be more to this story because you don't just attack someone for winning.

It seems that the FLGS was a bit of a TFG, but as it is, there's nothing making you leave. If there is another, betterer FLGS that you know of then go there, or even start your own. I wouldn't say leave without being completly sure of the details, but it definitely seems that TFG is being unfair. If you win, you win, too bad. Only tell him off if he's been cheating, not if he's actually just been gifted with the game. (Or is sleeping with Lady Luck)

There is more too it on the owners side. not on the customers. I am trying to keep it as vague as possible as some of these folks are on dakka dakka.
Basicaly the owner got an email from one customer complaining about the person winning.
Instead of handling it privaty he copied the email into the forums for all to see and then decided to add his scathing two cents.
Pisses me off to no end. I am dead sure now that I need to find another store.

As a frequent winner at my FLGS, I receive a little bit of flak from time to time from our owner. It's sort of to be expected I suppose. Being called out publicly isn't exactly the proper way to handle this, unless the owner felt that other players weren't having a good time because of the sportsmanship (or lack thereof) of this player. I agree with all of the above posts about not having the full details of this. Without both text and context, it's hard to say whether or not this whole thing was justified or not.

True that. He should have asked him to run some tournaments, or mayhaps teach a clinic. Alternatively et him to run a less comeptitive army to challenge himslelf.

Well, if you feel that they do not deserve your business, you have the option of no longer spending your money there. Did that once myself. I walked in the door in uniform, owner started slaggin off the military, I walked out and never went back. They have the right to say whatever they want, I have the right to spend my money wherever I want, titty bars included.
If you feel that uncomfortable walking in the door, the decision really has already been made for you. You just haven't cottoned on yet.
As far as the "further details"bit, of COURSE there are! This is the net, where you find SEAL/surgeons from Vietnam who can tear your spleen out over their 19.2 modem whilst screaming "2600! 2600!" But, given strictly the information here, and most importantly, the guys reaction to the situation; that's what I think.
Get another store. Get a garage group together. Get another hobby. But most importantly get on with it.

I have a philosophy... it's fight your own battles... but sometimes ya gotta help keep peace.
You should post for feelings on the topic in their forum, say how it appears in your opinion to be a bit off.. and offer up some of the solutions here. If that is received poorly, you are playing with people who are less mature then a 5th grade classroom. Not a good place to play. Form a club, go elsewhere spend money elsewhere.

Just play games on the PC/XBOX360/PS3/WII/DS/DreamCast/Whatever. You don't need dem humies anyway. Do what I did and sell all/most of your 40k stuff and catch up on all your videogame favorites like Halo 3 or Marvel Vs. Capcom 2... and don't forget the White Cheeder Cheez-Its and IBC rootbeer.
haha j/k
Maybe take a break from the store for a bit... step back and take a breather... maybe the drama will subside and everyone will be slapping asses in no time.
