MACDEATH
Born of a harlot of Kurgan's Harem, Kurgan immediately bowed in reverence when he saw his own child gifted with the mark of khorne emblazoned on his forehead, knowing full well that this was a sign from Khorne that this child was destined for great things. Knowing that if the mark were to be true, and that Khorne would let no harm come to the boy, he brought three of his fiecest warhounds to a pit and dropped him inside. MacDeath, even in his infamacy, landed feet first and brutally strangled all three mutts to death, proceeding to suckle blood as if feeding from his mother when he was finished. His father then fashioned a great cloak from the hides of the hounds and gifted it to his son. This victory would be but the first of many that Khorne would challenge him with. During his tenth year, MacDeath encountered a monstrous demon of a horse. After four days of battle, MacDeath finally wrestled the beast to the ground and forced it into submission. Over the next years a great resentment grew in the tribe from Kurgans favoratism of his son, and in his 16th year twenty one of his brothers entered his tent to slay him, only to find death for themselves. Now the skulls of his brothers decorate his horse and cloak, a deadly reminder to all of his kin of who now rules the clan. Recently, MacDeath has felt the call of Khorne, and so leads the Clan of Kurgan across the north, seeking to please the blood god.

KURGAN'S BASTARDS
Kurgan Bloodcaller, worshipper of Khorne, breeder of dogs, and hoarder of harlots. Accepting his new place in the hierarchy of his harem, Kurgan has chosen to lead the strongest of his whelps to battle, leaving his harem of 342 women at the hearth until his return from the Khorne given quest that his son, Macdeath, has been led to embark on.

DEATH DEALERS
Some of Kurgans breeding have been raised to handle horses, helping to round up mutts and potential "wives" over the long years.

KURGAN'S BRED
These warhounds have been raised by Kurgan to be the fiercest, toughest, and most controllable animals in all the northland.

CERBERUS
This is the most ferocious of all of Kurgans hounds, worshipped by some of his breeding to be a gift from Khorne himself. This monstrosity has the heads of three hounds, a mane of poisonous snakes, and the tail of a dragon.

I'm certainly looking forward to piccies, but a quick question.

Wouldn't Khorne be angered at the shallow attempt at pleasure that a Harem provides? I'd think that Slaanesh would show much more interest in a host like this.

Buttlerthepug: Actually, I used to use it as a warrior in roleplaying games when I was young, though it doesn't really fit into the goody tooshoo types of the empire, so I figured chaos was the best place for him. I was a bit disappointed when I started playing warhammer years ago to find a piece of artwork in the 3rd edition book titled with the same name...

Cryonicleech: Yes and now... I was thinking that he uses the women more for breeding and, in some cases, feeding his hounds. Instead of embracing the sexual tendencies of Slaanesh, I imagine him embracing the brutal enslavery side of a harem... if that makes any sense.

Ahhh, that makes sense then.

Fantastic work on the Marauders! Especially the freehand banners.

Omadon's Realm

Another beautifully themed and painted army from you Mousekiller, I am very keen to see your take on the lord on jugger model, one of my favourite sculpts. Again, the basing is magnificent, colours subtle and fascinating to study rather than a wall of colour that just washes over.
I especially liked the armoured 2 headed dog in the pack, also Kurgan himself.

I imagine Ol' Red and Brass Himself has nothing against a seasoned and excellent killer breeding to pass on his superior ability to spill blood to his offspring. Slaanesh is about indulgence and excess, but a warlord having several women, breeding with them and then raising the children to wage war, well, I think that would suit big K entirely.

Macdeth was a whole Warhammer scenario with MacDeth being some kind of scot/chaos warrior and leading a tribe of orcs. I think it was in the citadel journal or something.

LunaHound: Thanks for the pics mate.

Cyronicleech: Thanks mate. Glad the storyline is still working, I was afraid I would have to go and recreate everything...

KURGAN'S BRED
These warhounds have been raised by Kurgan to be the fiercest, toughest, and most controllable animals in all the northland. Fed only human flesh since birth (mostly from the undesirable children and women of Kurgans Harem), these monstrosities are larger by far than any normal hound.

Nice blog. I really like the little details you add like the spikes on the horses hooves. the basing is ace as well! I always was a fan of the old style marauder horsemen and I'm glad someone uses them when they can (mine are still crammed away in a bitz box but i might have to pull them out...

Always fun and hobby-provoking to follow your projects. Love how you share the story behind the models along with the pics. Kurgan's bastards and the warhounds look so great.

Suggestion, though. Similar to the warpaint on the Ogre models, something about that blue freehand warpaint just seems out of place. Maybe just solid blue and paint tiny little 'rough' areas around edges to show how it is hand-painted and/or worn?

Dictator: Thanks mate. I am fond of a lot of the older GW models, a bit more dynacism to them (up to about 5 models anyway)... The new plastics have a lot of conversion potential as well, but just don't capture the same feeling...

Blackbone: That is a great idea mate, I might go back on that ogre and give it a go since I am definitely still not satisfied with it.

I'm liking the details on the shield for the Horsemen, as well as the standard bearer's horse.

Absolutely stunning work.

Ok, so I have pretty much gotten MacDeath fleshed out to certain degree, mostly just the base coats at this point. Any suggestions?

Ok, chaos update time. So, I have worked on the armour a bit, decided to go with gold for the emblems. I think I need to do red on the lower portion of his chest piece as well- any thoughts? Still a lot of work to do.

Omadon's Realm

Red, black and brass all the way.

He's a fully fledged servant of Khorne, so the rigid warrior code (including dress code of colours) is in effect.

I also want to say how amazed I am at the 'volcanic' effect on the horse's shoulder, it's very vivid indeed. Top marks.
Repeat that effect across all the armour (steed and rider) and it will be a winner.

A little more done on MacDeath. I did one half of the robes, though I think I will give it another highlight. Also, started working the metals up a little, they still need some attention. I also put a basecoat of brown on the horse, though once I did I started to think I should keep it black, any thoughts?

Meangreen: I just didn't want to overdo the lava effect across him... but it is something to consider... Thanks mate.

Thank you very much, hopefully I will have this guy finished pretty quick so I can start the next 500 point installment on this army.

Ok folks, I think I am very close to finishing this one (by very, I mean he still needs a lot of touchups here and there)... so, what I need from you is last minute advice, I really want this guy to be above average. My intent is to, fingers crossed, have him done before Sunday and I will change the WOC army with the Dwarfs on display at Games Parlour.

To start, I will list the things that I think still need to be done, and PLEASE, tell me what you would suggest to make him better.

1)Finish base
2)More highlights on the horse robe red? Maybe two more.
3)Bone and horn work, two maybe three highlights.
4)Gold - one or two more highlights.
5)Silver - one more highlight on the extreme edges
6)Hooves - still need to be done
7) Leather - only basecoated, needs to be finished.
8) Cloak - another highlight on the front, maybe a wash of purple? Hair side needs highlighting and some washes I think.
9) Horse color - do I need to do more? Are the highlights on his rump too extreme?

Need your help folks, so please dig into to me even with the smallest details. Thanks, MK.

I'm not sure if it is your camera muting it, but I'd consider increasing the contrast between the shield and the icon a little. Or maybe making the rivets a little more obvious. It looks a touch wooden to my eyes at the moment.
