So, what did everyone think of it? I think it was too short for an RPG (finished it in about ten hours), but it's only an expansion. I loved the new party members, though. Anders reminds me of Alistair (in a good way) and Justice has some hilarious dialogue with the living party members.

I've only played through with my dual-wield human noble warrior so far. I hope I can finish DA: Origins with my human noble 2H warrior before I have to return Awakening to Blockbuster.

Spoiler:
The 'good' Darkspawn were cool too.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Overall i enjoyed it, but being unable to talk to my party members while out and about was irritating.

Yeah, that sucked. What dialogue they had was great though.

The big moral choices (particarly the two main ones at the end, were great. I spent ages fussing over them.

Hardly. If you've beat the first one, then Morrigan runs off and Allistaire is crowned. So there're hardly any spoilers. Just "Good" darkspawn which, to me, makes no sense. But mind you I'm playing through a new game from the start before I install the xpack, so I'm sure all will be explained.

You know Alistair can also leave the Grey Wardens or be executed, right? And that human nobles can become king/queen alongside Anora/Alistair instead?

And yes, the good Darkspawn are explained. It isn't some bullgak Deus Ex Machina either.

Yea I realized that he could be executed (What with Anora -saying- she would've executed him...) But my point was that you -know- he isn't going to be in any future versions as a party member.

I just started re- playing my first origins play through.
Awakening im gonna get. should i import or create with a new origin?
also ten hours sound great for an expansion cheese. most are around 5 or 6. short for a full fleged rpg.

Garret, you should definitely import your character. Unlike ME2, you keep all your gear as well as your level, skills, talents and stats (which makes sense considering it's an expansion). Playing as the Orlesian Warden (new character) just isn't the same.

So when I imported my dual wield warrior, I started the game at level 20 with tier 7 longswords and my Juggernaut armour. Enemies were more powerful, of course.

Only partially true. Any DLC gear (Cailan's Armour, Warden Commander's Armour, Blood Dragon armour) will -not- carry over. I found this out when I imported, only to find myself running around in a loincloth for the first half of the level, thanks to my character ending Origins wearing Warden Commander's gear. Not cool.

Legion of the Dead is base game armour, so it'll carry over. Only DLC items will be deleted from your inventory.

Juggernaut. Its the stuff you get while doing the Werewolf quest. You have to find each gravestone and kill the Revenant in it. The last piece is in a sarcophagus that you reach through the Elven Ritual quest.

You can go back and do it anytime before the final battle. It's one of the best armour sets in the damn game too.

And if you've already got the Dalish as allies, siding with the Templars isn't a bad idea. You only get 12 of them helping you in the final battle (the same as the Mages), but they're very tough and love to spam Holy Smite.

1. You only need one ranged army for the Archdemon battle. The first Hurlock General (Marketplace) can be defeated without help and the second (Alienage) can be taken out with the help of the Dwarves (who are very good defenders).

2. Give Leliana gifts, duh. Holy items are her preference, as well as a certain kind of flower (Andraste's Grace) which can be found in Redcliffe Village, the Alienage and the Brecilian Forest.

No they aren't, they're all over the place early in the game.

If you've gone down a morally ambiguous path and had her with you all the time, of course she'll have low approval.

And by the way, why didn't you do the Circle Tower first? The stat increases and Templar armour are very useful in that early part of the game.

Did you even build your character correctly? You can't just assign stats willy-nilly. You need a proper build for each talent line. Tanks need massive plate (preferable Blood Dragon plate, Warden-Commander's plate, Effort, or Wade Superior Dragonbone plate), a really good shield (preferably Fade Wall or Duncan's Shield) and a mace (preferably Vanguard). Tanks need to pump their strength and dexterity, and need at least 25 constitution.

The same goes for your party members. Don't make Leliana a melee rogue, don't make Zevran an archer, etc.

The High Dragons are easy to beat if you built your character correctly. I beat Flemeth with my two-handed Warrior at level 14 with Alistair, Wynne and Shale.

Al did make lelian arccher and well i never use him zev is a stabbity rogue. And yes i did use my build. I played wow for awhile. And i cant get wades bone armor. He shut me out after i got his 2 drake armor.
Im a warrior using the falimg axe Adnh i bleieve and some sheild that i got that has yet to be replace. portable bulwark i believe.
So yes i did build him correctly. I lvl my own chracter and auto lvl my part memebers.
Sorrty if i came of mad/angry. Its kind hot here and im sweating at night.

I just fixed everyone up with the meanest ranged weapons I could find, added Wynne for healing, and then set about shooting Flemeth for 15 minutes. So incredibly easy I actually went up and grabbed a beer mid fight

The one on the hilltop was substantially tougher, though it's very easy to do if you pack a tank main and an offtank and use them to lure it into that small ruined shrine. Then you just shoot it up with plenty of Elemental magic from a Wynne/Morrigan combo. If (Like me) you made Morrigan a backup healer as well, it again gets into an easy routine.

There's your problem. Do NOT let the computer level your characters for you. It makes slowed choices like even distribution of stats and worthless talents. Do it yourself; it's not like it's time-consuming or anything.

Who should i choose for the fight?
my tema usually consists of leliana as ranged morrigan and as healers and damage and shale(and i have the dlc might aswell use it) as a tank. and me as melee.
So who should i choose for the fight. thinking wynne and morrigan for dealer and healing. leliana as what she does best and me. and juggernaut armor at the fight for high lvl of resistance. but that means lees armor. choices choices.

Haven't tried Awakening yet. Can't say I will, either, judging by how lackluster the original was.

What did bioware call it? The spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate? Bollocks.
