I heard rumors that forge world was looking to make the Mechanicus a 40k army, while i don't remember forge world ever releasing whole armies i would love to see fields of skitarii
and heavy servitors in my army boxes.

Not releasing whole armies? The Death Korps, Elysians and Vraksian renegades disagree.

Those are more of the "upgrade kit" variety.

No, what he means (i think) is they've never released a unique army. Death Korps and elysians are basically fancy imperial guard - Traitor guard are essentially imperial guard but with ALOT of extras. I think he meant an army thats never been done before.

I hadn't heard anything about a mechanicus army. I wouldnmt even think this was a vague rumour?
I would think that FW would need to invest heavily in making new IA books and moulds. For all the fans of Mechanicus saying they what skitarri (me included) most are happy at the moment to convert. making some pretty unique minis in the process

And skittari aren't just guardsmen with mechanical enhancements.

Well, from what they keep saying the next IA book will pit the Eldar against the Adeptus Mechanicus. Chances are, the Imperium loses again, if only to show off how effective those shiny Eldar kits really are.

Well frankly it's refreshing for the friggin' Imperials to lose some in the fluff. Even in the antihero stuff the Imperials win most of the time. Stupid Spehs Mahreenz.
Anyways- seeing Skitarii done up the way they are depicted in Titanicus/Mechanicus (as gigantic genehanced feather-cape-wearing John Blanche-ish savages) is a great idea. Seems like most of the modelers out there do Tech Guard and call them Skitarii. It'd be nice to see some differentiation.

Pricey though if FW only kits would be the downside. If done alongside a GW release possibly going to have a lot of potential, but then so did LatD and Sisters :(
Another imperial force with some flavour would be interesting to see, but can't help feel there'd be something in there that just begs for a civil war with a new Necron book released and a huge campaign started.

I can see FW doing something like this seeing as their aim is to fill in the gaming aspects in the 40K universe that exist in the fluff but not on table table top (or at least I think that is what is written in some of the books)
It would be pretty awesome in my opinion considering how good their models are at the moment.

I could definitely see FW doing a project like this one, maybe make some new models to represent different AdMech units, as well as some upgrade kits to enhance exhisting vehicles. I hope they do it, ever since GW changed out open bitz ordering for the "bitz pack" system, converting has become more limited and expensive. The FW releases seem to be very high quality as of late, and I would love to see their work on something like AdMech.

They used to have a special edition batch of Adeptus guys that were out there for the Skullz program back in the day.
Other then that, people have been doing thier own armies.
This one here is one of the better ones I've seen.
http://www.tempusfugitives.co.uk/pdf/40k/Codex%20Cult%20Mechanicus.pdf
here is a decal/ transfer as well.
http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2008/12/adeptus-mechanicus-logo-sheet.html
I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean that you can't do it.
There are a bunch of great figs out there that work great for them.
I know that I won't buy from Forgeworld, unless they get thier stuff together again and stop overcharging for thier gak.
I have better alternatives then buying misshapen hunks of resin that are not the same quality as they advertise.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Probably not, because it's been spread all over the place.
However, Forge World was talking about the fact that IA9 is supposed to be the escalation of what started off in "Raid on Kastorel-Novem", which ended with the declaration of Garaghak's forces being a full on Waaaagh! in the Segmentum Tempestus.
If I had to hazard a guess, we'll see that the Orks were being manipulated by the Eldar and being pointed towards another AM world with all their forces--which leads to the Mechanicus deploying some big nasty toys.
Warwick has said that he wants to keep the Orks going, and wants to get the Eldar and Mechanicus involved along with the Raven Guard--and possibly the Elysians operating in a "role we've never seen", which could be hinting towards the little mentioned Elysian Storm Corps.

Or maybe, Elysians gaining a rare but much welcomed victory for a melon-fething change. Even their roll of honour in IA8 is one big list of their losses, with exception of the first entry.
Maybe it's just me, but FW is really intent on adding that extra cube of grim dark with our grim dark when it comes to the Imperium.

True, otherwise I wouldn't be doing such an army. It's just stupid that their own creators pass them off as being unable of pulling off good wars. IA 3 was hubris on part of the Elysians. Though with IA 4 they got fethed by the Inquisition and with IA 8 the Raven Guard can be blamed with their inadequate information gathering.

Yeah, but it was nice seeing Space Marines that didn't just say "Screw the Guard" and actually threw their plan and objectives out the window to aid a Guard regiment that would have been wiped out otherwise.

yea, no real specific source. Just this one guy was saying he heard from somebody that FW was taking another swack at chaos dwarves and possibly a cult of mars army. For all i know the original rumor came from some dudes breakfast cereal, but i'm happy to hear there actually some foundation to this rumor.
I'm already reading through that unofficial codex, thanks Grot 6, and I'm gonna start playing around with some skitarii conversions. I have ideas that start with the letter "arco flegellan" and end with hardware supplies.

I was reading through the pdf there and i have an off topic question.
what is a conversion beamer or a knight lance? Several units can them as an upgrade but i cant find their descriptions and their not listed on the back reference sheet.
the file looks pretty nice, just add a 20 pages of fluff and a gallery then gw can charge money for it.
If anyone has read through it and stumbles across these let me know, whatever a conversion beamer is it must be bigger than a lascannon so its got my curiosity.

it is in codex space marines. basicly the farther your target is from you the more damage you do
