Inspired by a question asked by warboss in another thread, I am curious to know who all have some kind of hobby interaction while at work. surfing dakka counts, but playing or modeling or painting gets bonus points.
I work on ships and stay gone from home for extended time periods, weeks or months. I will sometimes bring out models to work on while I am here, have even gone so far as to select luggage specifically toward this end. For instance, this trip I brought out 10 leman russ' models to assemble and magnetize. I have gotten through 3, just about done with number 4, and have been here a week out of a 3-6 week trip. flying aerosal cans is a no-no (although I DID consider bringing my airbrush) so no painting. Assembly is oging a lot better than expected. Sometimes I have a lot of time during the day to do stuff, some times not, but I work 12 hour shifts. This leaves me 12 hours off, and I can only sleep about 5 hours a night out here.

I surf on dakka, and also I have here my 40k rulebook with me. It's main purpose is to tease a friend to play 40k with me xD
I have taken models in the box here to my job, but just because they were from shared mail orders, to give them to their owners. I've nver put together or painted a mini while working.

I used to when I worked for a gas/oil company based in Houston, TX. We traveled all over the country and had a lot of (paid) downtime in hotel rooms. Boozing and watching movies only went so far.
Now, my hobby is my job. No complaints here, matey.

I'm a dispatcher for a law enforcement agency and I work third shift (2300-0700). Not too much going on, so I'll usually bring some models and my paint set up.
The pay is balls, but having that much "free" time is kind of nice.

I design visuals for stage shows and tours. I'm self-employed, so I've got no bosses looking over my shoulder, and I'm often online while animations are rendering in the background, etc. I also travel a bit for work - often I'll be in a hotel for a few weeks at a time, and theatrical hours are quite long (1000-2200 sic days a week). If this is the case, I'll take a little paint collection and some models to paint when I get back to the hotel each night. They travel in a little wooden art case that fits in my luggage. I was in Glasgow in January for three weeks working on a dodgy musical. I did a bit of painting after breakfast in the morning and when I got back to the hotel each evening, and by the end of the three weeks I'd completely rebased and finished painting my Slaanesh Daemons army! Like the OP, spraypaints are a no-no, but if I know I've got one of these coming up, I'll prime and spray the entire army and do the detail painting on tour. When I was putting together my IG Penal Legion last year, I sprayed all the infantry at once, did a lot of the base colours on tour (only five paint pots needed!) and then dipped them and did detail when I was back. So, I don't get PAID to paint models, but a lot of things allow me an opportunity to get hobby stuff done...

I draw up army lists and peruse Dakka Dakka and a few other war gameing related sites at work. I could probably get away with painting and modeling as we have alot of down time, unless something goes wrong...then I'm busy as hell. But I'm to worried I'd get paint on the damn fancy cloathes Im forced to wear.

I work in a mixture of music teaching and retail (currently studying part-time aswell); not much hobbying involved on the teaching front, but depending on where and when I am working retail shifts I can get in a decent amount of dakka and general modelling related internets. The furthest I have pushed it is bringing a copy of AB to work on usb in order to come up with lists.
This doesn't mean that I don't spend a large portion of my time at work thinking up ideas; I often look at innate objects and consider how they could be used within in the hobby, IE plastic signs becoming plastic-card, reed staples being used as part of a battle cannon etc. It consumes me I tell ya.

My current job is in the process of winding down, as more and more of our customers sites close we loose machinery to look after so am often left for hours on end waiting for a call to come in. For the most part I surf on Dakka and other wargaming sites. I have in the past assembled and painted minitures in work, although there is no natural light and the flourescent bulbs cast odd shadows which make painting a bit of a pain. With the world cup on I normaly slope off to the canteen to watch the two daytime matches. Failing that I read a lot (which includes Warhammer related stuff) and watch films on a portable dvd player.

I assemble and paint every figure I have own or owned for the last 10 years at my job. I surf the net Dakka, Warseer, etc for new info and ideas. In actuality I wouldn't have time to do this at home or in my non existent freetime.

I work Tues-Sat, and the Saturday is running backups and large print jobs here at work. I have about 6-7 hours of dead time while things work in the background.. and I am the only one on-site.
In one Saturday, I can paint to tabletop standards about 15 Infantry, 10 Terminator/Large Infantry, 5 Kans/Walkers or 3 Vehicles..
I have NO paint time at home, unless it is spray primer day.

I own the local game store so... I get paid to be around this stuff every single day
I don't get to play or paint too much while I'm working though (aside from hobby night and the occasional pickup game if its a slow day) as there is always a lot of work to get done.

I'm not sure I get paid to Wargame as much as I'm stealing from work. I'm in an office so I can close my door if I want.
I bring in White Dwarf, rule books, and other gaming related reading materials into work. I construct list while listening to long conference calls.
At times I bring in models to clean but hardly ever assemble and never paint at work. Too hard to put away if some one knocks at the door.

At my full time job I get Dakka time or some Army Buider time only.
At my part time job, working overnights in a group home, I get about 5-6 hours a night to paint or watch TV. I did my Deamonettes in one weekend a while back, this last one worked I assembeled and painted 8 horses for my silver helms.

I'm a online computer tech for a customer service company. I can't paint or put any of my models together.
I am allowed to surf the net, so I go here. I also bring my codexes in and make my lists before I game. I also have Apocalypse and Imperial Armor pdfs on my work laptop.
I can plan things out but not work on anything until I get home.

Well, over the summer, nothing, Dakka's blocked and being in an office environment means no painting. It's a shame though, since, as a summer student, I have so much free time (it's usually more work for my bosses to find me something to do than it is just to let me sleep).
When I'm back at school? Well, since I'll be a full time student with only 16 hours of class a week next summester... I'll have lots of free time, and only so much alcohol...

I almost only read Dakka at work. My schedule is fairly complicated, but for the most part I have 8 hours on, and then 8 hours off. Occasionally I will pencil myself in for a 12, or 16 hour shift, but that usually only happens when I have other priorities to deal with later in the week. Its a brutal schedule, as the quick turnover ensures I never get more than 6 hours of sleep without paying for it, but the freedom I have while on the clock allows me to spend most of my time involved in non-work related activities.
Still, I'm glad that I'll be out of this place in two months.
