I was wondering what races everyone is interested in seeing as a playable in the upcoming MMO. I know it may sound ridiculous but I would love to see nids as playable at some point.

Confirmed races for the start are:
Imperium
Eldar
Orks
Chaos
Main enemies are PvE Tyranids. If you want to play Tyranids, look at the Tyranid NPCs and imagine that it is you enslaved by the Hive Mind

Nids for PvE sounds pretty cool. I wonder what other races they will use for PvE? And one other thing I was wondering if anyone has heard anything through the rumor mill about playable SM chapters? It would be nice if you could create chapters just to keep things fresh sort of like guilds.

You say that, and I would have agreed a week ago, but I've been playing DDO recently, and to their credit, no one has asked me to collect 5 of ANYTHING yet. It's somewhat reestablished my faith in MMOs that disappeared when everyone stoppped playing UO.

OOooooh Daedalus - I'm intrigued. One of the many things that gets my goat about MMOs is killing 10 bears to get to the Grouchy Old Traveller's house, only to have him say "Go kill 10 bears".

I think Nids would be fun too, especially if you got to start out as a little grub, and got to mutate yourself each time you leveled up Combining Spore with an MMO could be cool.

I would say I would wish Tau were in it. But I doubt there'd be enough people playing them to make it worth it. Would rather stick with a larger faction just for the fact of having more people to play with. That being said, I'm torn between the imperium and orcs. Speaking of which, is there a group of dakkaites planning on all playing on the same server? Would be interresting to play with people who actually are wargammers/hobbyists.

You almost made sense until you held up UO as some kind of Great MMO. You realize you had to start that game as like...a miner. Or some other trade crafter to even afford gear to go out and collect bear poop. I remember when I broke my first pick and had my pile of ore stolen and someone was kind enough to give me a shovel so I could go back to banging on walls. And that's not even an exaggeration. You basically started out as an unarmed, crippled snotling in a world full of black orks. Great if you're a black ork.

Empire, Xenos, Chaos.. or some such and try to break the Armies up that way. I mean WoW has 8 soon to be 10 races.. soo...

WoW needs more factions 2 is just to few when you have 10 races. There are opportunities for all sorts of factions in the 40k universe which makes it a bit more appealing to me.

Yeah at least 4 factions and the option to go rogue/black/traitor is needed in more games.

this game could have people playing as the inquisition dob on others who complain, to the guys in charge.

The players wake up one day in RL to find their house has been taken out from Orbit and worse still, their account cancelled.

It's been more or less confirmed that there will be two factions.

For my part, all I really want are Sororitas.

Never played EQ or EQ2. However: EVE, Star Wars Galaxies, WoW, Planetside, Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer Online, and a few others I have played didn't have the option for you to be a traitor to your race or faction.

the problem is i guess, if they write in the script and plot for going rogue, they are in effect doubling the work for the same amount of factions, and for every rogue option i guess thats less time spent for all those other factions/races that aren't implemented.

And Food for Thought: SM going rogue ok. Chaos going back to the Spash Emprah? Hmmm.
