Anyone have an idea as to why the Dark Angels seem to love using plasma weapons? I was thinking it was because they don;t care if they live or die, just carrying a really big gun to eradicate the enemy.

It's not that they "love using plasma weapons", but because they were the First Legion, they had a large amount of plasma weaponry at their disposal.

Large amounts of it survived the Horus Heresy, and voila. They have relic weapons that newer Chapters can only dream of.

Ok, that makes sense.

As Kan said they just have a lot of it, they were also the first chapter game wise to get PCs in their Tac squads. Fluff wise they do it as a mean of repenting because they feel pain as they hunt of the Fallen (I'm pretty sure I read that, but don't remember where.)

I've never once seen that part, but it's been speculated a few times.

That is very probable. There have been a good deal of DA-related topics lately.

For a while they were the ONLY chapter allowed to have plasma cannons in there tac squads , also only dark angel dreadnoughts were allowed to take them ( weapon wise you cant beat the plasma cannon / dreadnought ccw + flamer combo all packed up in a drop pod ) .....

Also they are SO DAM COOL !!!!!!!!!

my dark angel army has every one who can carry plasma dam well getting one , nothing beats the look on an opponents face when you line up 12 plasma cannons and a field of plasma guns and plasma pistols up against him !!!!

If your REALLY lucky they will all blow-up in the first turn ... ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!

I do the same thing even when I play Codex Marines, Plasma everywhere. Never lost a marine to Gets Hot! so the Emperor smiles upon me

I lose the odd guy to "scary hot plasma death!!!! " but not many compared to the absolutely ridiculous number of plasma weapons I have .

When you loose a guy in a huge amusing blue flash of doom you just have to laugh it off !!!!

I feel truely blessed Solo. But how do you lose all your gunners? you need a 1, then a 1 or a 2. I think it's like a 5% chance.

Funny you mention this because I have never read anything in the fluff that says DA love plasma weaponry, but our local DA player runs tons of plasma. Just packs all his squads full. Where was this plasma fluff from?

I use 'nilla marines but run 4 to 5 plasma weapons in my 1000 pts list. I only lose a marine once every two or three games.

DA also used to have a Plasma Cannon specifically for them with little wings with swords on em everywhere. Plus the Chap on the cover of the dex has one. Lets hope when a new dex comes out the make them plasma happy! Plasma cannon Terminators, Landspeeders, attack bikes and Preds would be sweet!

any ways in my force i have only one but that is because i roll my vets with azrel and my tacs usally back them up though i have one who moves up but its one in five

Swap vulkan from TL-ing melta/flamers to plasma. And there ya go.

You lose TL on one type of weapon but it helps you to avoid Gets hot on plasma. So everything would probably balance out.

Dark angels would be pretty awesome if something like this was to come along in their next book.

Add in the option to have two plasmaguns or two plasma cannons to tac squads?

There's been a few dozen of them, but they always get trolled by the "WE DUN NEED MOAR MAREENZ!" crowd.

Do you have a picture of that? I don;t think I've ever seen a Dark Angels-specific plasma cannon...

the other thing to remember is that DA used to not only get more plasma (plasma in tac squads first) but also got them 5pts cheaper. with the proliferation of plasma cannons and their decrease in price with the 5th edition marine codex, DA heavy plasma armies are actually now paying more than standard marines for a non-existent priveledge.

Its a metal thing, not plastic. I'll grab some pics later, SCII has my attention for the nite.

no prob. take your time destroying the zerg. i figured it was plastic but if it's metal i'm guessing it came from the 3rd edition DA tact squad.
