Wow - that paintjob really makes it pop. You've struck a nice balance with the weathering. One question: why's the las-barrel rotated 90 degrees? To protect the heads?

I love iron hands because people just go ballz to the wallz on converting them. Great job all around can't wait to see more.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Thanks all!
@ Iron Angel; The Rhino-chassis is pretty basic, I made a mount for the turret from one of those round-rhino-top-hatch-thingies.
The turret is made from the Whirlwind turret armour plates with 2 pred. lascannons, a Mantic Ghoul, some plasticcard/sprues and some random gears 'n wires I had lying around.
@ Empchild; Not sure whether I should thank you for the compliment or bash in your skull for Istvaan...

Whoo-hoo! I've got a regular!
It's pretty mutch as practical as an normal sponson though. The servo arms are pinned to the hull so they're quite rigid. the bolters can still turn 180* and are magnetised so I can put Lascannons on the sponsons.
I'll make some pics of the painted model tomorrow!
Couse i cant make good ones in the dark)

Kick-ass! Love the conversions, especially that awesome las-cannon turret. One problem: iron hands aren't blue!

I think I'm gonna go for Mannus' Fist, as this used to be a Crimson Fists Predator. I've also got a scroll on the Razorback I still got to do, but I want to practice writing on such a small scale a bit first.
Anyhow:
More Hands!
This fully magnetised so I can remove the HB/Thypoon and equip the speeder with MM/ HF.

Hello everybody! I'm back! I went to the dutch GT last weekend, had a blast! Got my ass kicked though, 74th out of +/-110. As expected mechanised and bikers don't mix well... Got 22 out of 30 painting/conversion points even though half of my army was still only in base colours.
Here is a shot of my Dutch GT 2010 army.
I want to redo the conversions on the Pred and Razor in this picture, also the Marines in the Speeder need some loving. These 3 vehicles also need a decent (i.e. more than base colours) paint job.
4 out of 5 veterans and the left bikersquad need to be finished too.
Also I've started working on the Iron hands Marines. Here are my first converted parts:
Since the GT is behind me, I've got some more time to put into my models. Does anyone have some tips 'n tricks on how to improve on my painting?

In the mean time on Forgeworld Joostuh...
I've decided to wait with the Marine Conversions for now and started painting the "rank and file" Marines from the Black Reach set. To test my painting skills but mainly because I've got another tourny coming up! A 1000pt doubles trourny at the Fanatic in Zwolle. I'll be teaming up with my roommate's Word Bearers. I'm going to try to get 1000pts of Iron Hands on the table.
So in the mean time, I've finished the first of the Combat Squads!
And apearently my crappy camera has a kick-ass digital macro hidden somewhere deep in the menu's!
So here's a nice close up of one of the Marines;
When there is no pressure I get lazy, so I've given my self plenty to do the next 18 days:
To do before 28/11:
3/4 Combat squads
3/3 Dreadnoughts
1/1 Master of the Forge
That's gonna be tight... Lets see what I can finish today!
Plans after that?
Converting Marines!
And Assault Marines!

Got to say, I LOVE the drum fed AC turret on that pred. It looks ridiculously cool (especially for such a minor tweak - I mean, it's a little drum of ammo, right?) and the loading arm/spare drums gives it functional plausibility (in that roundabout 40k way) and ups the intricacy, stressing the fact that it's an Iron Hands vehicle.
