So yea this is my custom chapter for Chaos Space Marines, so comment and criticise if you want.
(Note: The fluff of my back story may not be full accurate but iv got a basic knowledge of the Chaos fluff).

Ok so my new Chaos Space Marine colour scheme is as follows:


(May or may not keep the backpack the silverish colour.)
KEY: Green = Dark Angels Green, Yellow = Shining Gold(Tin Bits underneath). Grey= Boltgun Metal (Drybrushed with Mithril Silver). Creamish colour on horns = Bleached Bone.
Basecoat: Chaos Black Spray.

Backstory:

These followers of Khorne have remained hidden since the point the chapter was founded not that long after the Horus Heresy. They remained hidden as when they became the Chaos Space Marines they are now, their armour changed from The Salamanders into a darker green but with golden trims, this seemed strange as Khorne followers normally have a reddish armour. The reason they reappeared into the galaxy was due to Kharn The Betrayer finding their small hidden chapter. Seeing as they followed Khorne, Kharn accepted them as his "army", The Scorpions had heard of Kharn and his blood slaughtering tales, killing both friends and foes without mercy. The accept being commanded by Kharn as Khorne must have sent Kharn to them for a reason. To prove that they are part of Kharn's legion, Kharn himself has donned the colour scheme of The Scorpions who made his army shortly after his arrival. From here on Kharn and The Scorpions have travelled the galaxy gathering support from some Khorne Berzerkers, Rhino and Predator drivers. They have also managed to "acquire" a land raider and a dreadnought. After hearing of glorious battles Terminators that look similar to Space Wolves but clearly Chaos joined the Scorpions. During these battles the art of Daemon summoning was tried and became quite successful, although not always. Being able to summon a Daemon prince and the Greater Daemon of Khorne really make the chapter a bit more known but not as well known as the Black Legion and other chapters. Their new found "fame" helped them to acquire a Chaos Defiler. From here on The Scorpions have fought in countless battles against all sorts of races, mainly beating the Tau where conflict arose. Having failed to fight any Space Marines in their battles they hope to change that very soon indeed.

I'm kinda iffy on including a named character in your backstory as a key figure, but I adore the color scheme. It's certainly new for Worshippers of Khorne, but you should develop that story-wise since there's alot of potential there. The Gold also compliments the green. I really wanna see how this turns out =3

Yea im quite excited about this colour scheme aswell, unfortunately the only model i can use is Kharn, but anything is better than the last paint job i gave him >.> lol.

I could change the backstory to stayin Kharn found and taught them the fundaments of battle and occasionally appears in battle with them (wouldnt affect the army in anyway).

Kharn generally isnt someone who would do anything with rational thought. The guy is the embodiment of Berserkers and would probably slaughter anything in his way (which is famously represented in his rules). However this is going into fluff territory (which there is a board for).

As for actually painting Kharn, you can do it however you want. It would make for a very unique one. Personally the Color scheme screams Tzeentch to me, probably due to the higher contrast and more saturated colors.

When Kharn actually found The Scorpions, he didnt try and rationalise with them, he just seen a bunch of Chaos he could use to help slaughter foes.

kind of in agreement about kharn, hes known as "the betrayer" for a reason. he doesn't really give two craps about the war at large, he just roams the galaxy slaughtering peeps (chaos, loyalist, and xenos alike) for the glory of khorne, and he generally does so alone. It might be better if a chance encounter with the betrayer tainted your chapter somehow. say perhaps they discovered some warp touched artifact of his left behind on the battlefield and foolishly claimed it as a trophy.

I might have to change the back story so that it fits in with Kharns character a bit more, but like I said I has a very basic knowledge on the Chaos fluff atm, still have to read the codex for it lol.

The colours I quite like aswell, its essentially my old Chaos Space Marines (Scorpion Green with shining gold trim) but darker as i no longer like the bright green.

Should be interesting to see how this army comes along

Nope, not at all, you started the thread so you can revive it whenever you feel like it.

Now I know a few people wanted to see the colour scheme, well I have started it on Kharn and im loving it atm, its not finished but a good start anyway.

I am aware that this may be a bad model, it is a good few years old and has been stripped of its previous paint job.

Hmm not 1 comment since adding the Kharn pic, thats a tad disappointing.

lol I was out with a friend xD.

currently I'm in love with the primary colors. The brazen bronze really compliment the green and I see alot of potential. Just cant scratch the feeling I've seen the scheme somewhere else before....

Yea, the Tin Bits coat over the black works really well with the Dark Angels Green, i am somewhat considering leaving it as is

Well im glad its not using you character names or the lore, but to be fair i didnt even know you had an army with the same colour scheme.

And if its the original pic that looks like your army then you may not need to worry as i may keep the tin bits metallic-base colour and just dry brush some dwarf bronze to pick out of of the detail.

Actually, it's the inverse of the Steel Cobra color scheme. Still like it tho

Well at least its not exactly the same lol, i dont really know much about the chapters from earlier editions as i have the most recent (5th perhaps??) edition of the codex produced in 2007 so all my choas knowlegde is based on that codex lol.

@johnscott10 Nice colour scheme should look good when your done! keep up good work, from what you've shown of your scheme your not copying out from anyone other than having them green

Kibda hard not to copy colours as they have all probly been used XD.

I take it the OP changed their mind and went from green\yellow to green\brown? I like the yellow better.

Not quite, I always add Tin bits to part i plan on painting gold as I was told it brings out the gold more, I will do one part of the leg in Gold and then post another pic and let other dakka members decide what looks better.

So yea left leg is painted with shining gold and right leg is with tin bits(apart from the arrow below the skull).

I think the belt should have more metalics on it and stand out more. It's one of his more detailed features so it should get some attention there.

Yea i was thinkin of that myself, not overly sure what to do tho :S

My own Kharn has it painted entirely in gold and washed with brown ink and highlighted with silver + gold (I use craftstore acrylics, so I dont know the equivallent GW paints).

Finally started on Gorchild
Now be aware I know of the few areas iv missed, i will touch these up shortly.
The axe head itself was annoying to paint as red by itself wasnt doing the trick, so I mixed some with boltgun metal(probly not best choice) to give it a sort of metalic red. I still have a few areas to go over with it.

Updated the backstory a bit, still revolves around Kharn but fits more with his personality.

Backstory:

These followers of Khorne have remained hidden since the point the chapter was founded not that long after the Horus Heresy. They remained hidden as when they became the Chaos Space Marines they are now, their armour changed from The Salamanders into a darker green but with golden trims, this seemed strange as Khorne followers normally have a reddish armour. The reason they reappeared into the galaxy was due to hearing rumours that a rare treasure had been located on the volcanic planet of Kazan. The Scorpions set out to claim this threasure as their own. Upon arrival on Kazan they seen swarms of different races varying from Eldar to Orks to Space Marines. They were rather small groups that were heading to the same place. The Scorpions slowly followed as they knew if they were spotted they would be quickly killed. In the darkness of a cave they followed the other races to all they could heard was the clashing of weapons, whirring of Chain-Weapons and round after round of shots. The peered into the middle of the "field" and realised that Kharn the betrayer had also landed on Kazan. The Scorpions had heard of Kharn and his blood slaughtering tales, killing both friends and foes without mercy. Being followers of Khorne and having Kharn right in front of them turned the small squad of Scorpions into vicious killers. As all the other races were caught by surprise the other races died quickly. Upon speaking with Kharn they learned that the treasure was a fake, there wasnt one to begin with. Kharn simply made it up to lure people to slaughter in the name of Khorne. Just as Kharn was about to leave and find some other people to slaughter a pulse carbine shot hit him in the head, clearly one of the Tau had managed to survive but was quickly killed after taking the shot. Kharn fell to the ground unconcious but not dead. The Scorpions decided it would be wise to get Kharn off of Kazan as quick as possible. Upon wakening kharn was presented with new armour in the colours of the Scorpions as his old armour was heavily damaged. The Scorpions then became part of Kharns squad. Kharn decided to return to Kazan to see how many more fools had fallen into his trap. Upon arrival there seemed to be no sign of any other race. The Scorpions then managed to find a small settlement and alerted Kharn. Kharn being the bloodthirsty monster that he is just charged head long into the settlement hopeing to kill whatever took refuge there. The Scorpions quickly followed. The settlement was inhabited by a rather small army of Tau, but wearing a dark blue armour with light blue sections. There were also a small squad of kroot with them. As Kharn blasted into the settlement the kroot quickly attacked but fell prey to Gorechild as quickly as they attacked. The Tau fell prey quickly as any who got close to Kharn fell dead a few seconds after. Kharn headed to the most important looking building while The Scorpions provided covering fire. As Kharn ran toward the building his foe revealed itself, the Ethereal. Kharn and the Ethereal both fought fiercly, weapons clashing and trying to out manouvre each other. The Ethereal evntually became victim to Gorechild as he protected himself againt a plasma pistol shot but Gorechild was then quickly forced into the Ethereal's skull. Upon seeing the death of their Ethereal, the remaining Tau retreated. Some survived and declared that they would meet again against a more powerful army.

The Scorpions and Karn went back to the hidden chambers of The Scorpions. The Scorpions managed to convinve Kharn that having some other forces would quickly diminish foes and allow them to hunt for more. Kharn agreed to this and The scorpions quickly rounded up some fellow Chaos Space Marines who followed Khornes teachings. These included a Terminator squad with a Land Raider, a Defiler, some Rhinos and Predators, Daemon Prince, Dreadnought and finally some Khorne Bezerkers. Through practise even a Greater Daemon of Khorne was ready to be summoned. A few skirmishes have took place between The Scorpions and other races but they eagarly await a massive battle to take place.

Kharn The Betrayer is just abount finished All thats left to do is finish the base.
Quite sad atm tho, iv had real fun painting him up, can't wait to get the rest of my Chaos Space Marines to paint them to the same standard
