Hi Babe,

Thanks for making the effort to post the game up - Hopefully one day my Enclaves and amazing cardboard buildings will do your beautifully painted Ultras justice.

I'm looking forward to seeing how your 2nd game of the day went down.

Mine was a DoW, Kill points affair which did not go well for either Farsight or my Cheesetide (that's both of them taken out by our friend's BAs in our last two games). Still, after a block of predominantly objective-based games it was good to have an old-fashioned punch (or plasma) up.

For the greater... blood.

Hi Randy.

Re: The libby - the shading and tone on his face is off the hook. Brilliant work.

Yeah tell me about it mate. I had my 1k list all planned out but that game against Alex's DA threw me for six so changes have been made.

Glad you are cracking on with the conscripts; I'm sure they'll look rad.

Tbh I'd steer clear of anything barrage ap3/4. I definitely wouldn't bother with a basilisk.

Looking good (although I obviously had the dubious pleasure of a close encounter with the finished priest and most of the 'scripts not long ago).

Your objectives also look great. There's a rumour going around the net that you and Alex played a 'Relic' mission last week for Scrotox. I've been struggling not to ask either of you how it played out but I'm confident I can wait for the report to go up.

Re the Priest - A book would work but probably just a small one (Penguin classic maybe?). I'll keep my optics polished.

Finally!

Really looking forward to missile-podding the finished article

Are you going with the same vehicle blue or do you plan to incorporate the Scouts' camo scheme?

Big Love.

Good stuff matey.

Thanks for the kind words and blog plug (blug?).

I think your subscribers would love to see some glamour shots and a bit of a retrospective of the whole PDF project amirite?

Looking forward to the upcoming marine stuff (I may be committed now to tlThe Greater Good but I was an Ultramarine player back when Lieutenants were still a thing).

Lovely to see these on the plog Randall. So much detail on the bases let alone the planes themselves.

I have to agree with Nevelon; green canopies would make the blue pop.

Enjoy Pirate Day yarrrrrrr! X

Excellent update.

I'll need to see the new canopy shade IRL before I pass judgement.

Re your power axe; a coruscating nimbus only gives my sunshark something to dial into (until it gets nerfed next year).

New toys! I'm looking forward to see what you do with your vintage guard officer based off Mr Eldritch here:

RE: T'Pau alpha strikes - I can't remember killing a LR on turn one but then I've not had one as a target yet in 8th. I do remember keeping one stunned for a whole game of 7th - frustrating for all parties involved.

Go on I dare you - fill it to the brim with multi-meltas using the amazing new chapter approved rules!

Laters.

Always nice to see both an entirely new model for your guard and a bit of classic conversion work. He's going to look great. You probably mentioned this up the thread but who's he in charge of?

Re a game. What are you thinking scenario wise? Maybe an eternal waaaarrg off the new chapter approved?

Keep it up (and carry on painting etc.)

Officer is looking ace, Termies are ace and your work on the aux.gl is really clean and accurate. Glad you've been able to get some work on these done x

Enjoy Battletech it look great. These days a console release of something like this isn't unfeasible so I might get to play it too...

The GS and conversion work on LT's bolter is spot on. I was privileged to see the Marine HQs at [SPOILER ALERT] basecoating stage the other day and the sculpting is so clean I didn't ping the bolter as a RTB01 model. Well done!

Looking forward to a 'Heroes of the Chapter' showcase asap x

Love that Lt.Stowage model. I'm not sure who the sculpt is by but he has that classic early 2000s craggy face they all had then. Paint and conversion job is sick obvs.

Re the other Lt., I'd say leave the helmet white and paint the left shoulder pad with the classic Lt. Symbol as per Nev's suggestion. The red slash on his plate is enough on the front.

Ganbatte!

Lovely - I saw these in the gallery when I was on the prowl yesterday so I knew you were touching cloth update-wise.

Another really characterful and unique model for your Ultras he's already looking the biz. Now is your chance to invent a heraldry for him that, years from now, our childrens' children might know as cannon.

Maybe an amusingly-shaped bolter 'firing' at a Genestealer? Or more seriously, a white Crux with '1st' in the centre in black and his name on a scroll underneath? A bit boring perhaps.

Anyway here's some easy access motivational literature:

Wow quick job. Colour choices are good esp. the burlap-type stuff on the gun barrels which is very naturalistic.

Reckon these will look great in-game. If you get the chance you should pop some terrain out and get some shots of them in-situ.

Hmm. Following reports of a low intensity contact, my Mechanised Cadre flew a drone team over the ruins of Cardboardia Prime - these were the last images captured before the drones went off-line:

p.s. - a photo battle report (of sorts, and sadly not officially featuring Ratlings) of our initial Killteam games will shortly be available over on my T'au Plog. I won't post a link though until It's on there.

Please Stand By.

Great update, and once again the palette on those Ratlings is badman.

Nice to see progress on the new Scouts. Speaking of which there is a flacid account of the Scout's first action in Killteam over on my P'log.

As a taster here they are at muster, and getting stuck in...

Sorry for the blurry photos - I'll try harder next time

Well these are very nice indeed. I'm sure you are pleased with the DPM hood/scarf on the Scout specialist - it looks proper gucci, as they say.

I had a thought re your Reivers - how about replicating the camo stripes you've done on the new Scouts' guns, but over the whole of your standard Ultra blue armour?

I'm reminded of this...

Only more blue-er and differenty.

Anyway great progress babes x

Are you pleased with heads/faces on these guys? I think they're some of your best and give each marine real character. Perfect for killteam obvs.

I'm with Stompa (hello mate) in that I'm surprised at your creeping embrace of the Primares. Especially the flying ones. Still I'm sure you'll make them look ace when the time comes!

Looking forward to seeing more of these guys and getting done over by them in games.

I'm surprised too but I think they can be ok when done right. They just need to release a load more, drop the points, allow them options on heroes and in squads, give normal SM the Primaris stat line, give Primaris a better stat line, re write the core rules to prevent people just falling back from combats, improve all the chapter tactics, apply said CT to vehicles like everyone else, replace SM unique 'thing' as they gave CT to everyone but SM got nothing instead (no, ATSKNF doesn't count) and make bolters great again.

L O L...

Well it won't be long until the next marine book so just try to stay positive. I'm always here to talk if you need me.

Are you on to those conquest/wake the dead Intercessors next then or the rest of the reivers? Be good to do get a full Primaris kill team painted up.

Wow six done already. Enough for a football team (probably?).

It dawned on me the other day that your take on Reivers is reminiscent of the old RT era scouts (Advanced Space Crusade) with knives and pistols esp. the mohawk gentleman.

Bare heads with facepaint, asymmetrical shoulder pads, strange leg design. The only thing missing is those puffy slashed sleeve things. Was this all planned from the start? Are you a Cylon? Mind blown.

Great work though. Looking forward to facing both these and freshly painted Incestigators on the table. Stupid effing shock grenades though urgh.

Intertestes are looking fantastic. Once again I want to draw attention to the quality of your bare heads because it seems like you've gone up a level in terms of skill. I know you chatted about your method just now in the thread but I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate a more close up step by step type thing.

Re: that Repulsor. Yeah sorry about that. What do you get the Marine collector who has everything they want? Something they don't want of course!

I'm sure you will rise to the challenge. I reckon get those weird mini lascannons off the hull and onto sponsons. Along with your very reasonable plans to address the 7 different types of rocket it should be mostly ok... mostly.

Hi Randy,

Loving your recent work. I can't agree with Nevelon re the washing machine dreads (Contemptors are best) but I do have lovely vivid memories of getting the first 2nd edition metal 'Blood Angel's Furioso' it its bright red box. It cost £25 quid and for that you could have got loads of actual penny sweets and individual snouts and bla bla zzzzzzzzzz...

Huh? Sorry I must have reminisced myself asleep.

Primaris Snipers came out really well. I'm looking forward to seeing the Reiver bits bashed ones too as they will be even more unique.

Hugs and kisses - let's finish that TTS battle sometime. Mwa x

The new Elims are looking very good indeed, Randy.

I think more kit bash = more betterer especially for Eliminators as one tends to see the ubiquitous ETB bolt rifle types around a lot for obvious reasons.

Your DPM is getting even better. Funny that I was raving about Gordy's camo to you the other day

There's just something special about green DPM. Maybe it's a Brit thing; makes me feel safe and vulnerable in equal measure...

Looking forward to our next (socially distanced) Blackstone session - hopefully you will get your Phobos out for the lads.

Cheers.
