Oh. Right.
In that case, Al Gore. Or Barack Obama. Or, whatever, anybody with a (D) next to their name. And then Charles Taylor, just for some of that international "wait, WHO" type of magic the Nobel people have shown over the years.
Well, it's the 16th anniversary of the Karamy fire, in which Chinese Communist Officials fled the burning building, leaving 288 children inside to burn to death, with the exit doors locked. Give this award to some of those guys.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I think China feel the nobel peace prize is doing the equivalent to China.

Due to the financial irresponsibility and incompetence of your leaders, Cobra has found it necessary to restructure your nation’s economy. We have begun by eliminating the worthless green paper, which your government has deceived you into believing is valuable. Cobra will come to your rescue and, out of the ashes, will arise a NEW ORDER!”

They also created their own peace prize to compete!
Who should they nominate? I think Kim Jung Un might just get lucky!
The BBC interviewed the son of Lech Walesa. He said this is the first time a government has been successfully able to do this and that the Western powers are afraid of China, not just economically, but politically now. he said his dad would love to accept it for the winner, like another person accepted for him when he was unable to leave the country.

Wow, per NPR China managed to get a coalation of dictators to boycott. Why do we trade with the communists and ship all our jobs there again?

They do when they want to, as do the other Security Council members.
The point is that the Prime Minister of Russia has suggested that someone ought to put Assange forwards, and he can do it himself, so why doesn't he do it if he thinks it is a good idea?.

It's possible it is a part of a political row with the US after the back door deals America makes became open for all to see.
Remember: Wikileaks found America backing a defense plan for Batlic states against Russia while America was talking with Russia about closer NATO ties.
I think Russia is just having a bit of a go at us. The announced that they wanted him nominated (though didn't actually nominate him), went back to the green room and laughed and laughed.

How long will we live after we nominate the Dalai Lama for a lifetime award.
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

The next Dalai Lama gets to be picked by China, at least i recall the Chinese government saying something to that effect. That one will probably win the award when the time comes.
I lost the site but apparently the awards were a dismal failure.

I wish it was just dictators but the list is:
China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Serbia, Iraq , Iran, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Venezuela, the Philippines, Egypt, Sudan, Ukraine, Cuba and Morocco.
Sure some of them are predictable but others are democracies that had to fight for human rights. I mean the Philippines and Serbia don't want to side with a human rights activist in jail? Really?

Good old wikileaks, destabilizing world peace since it's inception! Given the abject failures of russian spies in the US recently, I suppose it would make sense that they would nominate someone doing their job for free. Hell, putting got called the ultimate mafia don and batman by wikileaks, he's gotta be happy with them.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

Because they have a stronger economy than we do and our laws don't penalize US business for treating foreign powers preferentially in the face of sub standard wages as well as working conditions.
TLDR its cheaper for corporations to outsource jobs to country's that we may or may not be aligned with ideologically. This is a huge problem.
