As I'm sure many of you daydream and stumble upon a fantastic idea for a miniature conversion, but you may not have the funds/time/skill needed to make the idea miniature-form!

I wanted to create this thread to allow users to post ideas that you think would make a fantastic conversion/scenery or diorama, so that those who DO have the funds/time/skill (especially in GS) can bring your thoughts to reality. It can also be a place to share inspiration for your next project!

There might be some talented modelers out there looking for some fresh ideas, so share them and they could be materialized!

Don't forget to share links to something your idea relates to, i.e. scaly skin with a like to a particular breed of lizard (can be anything, from weapons to skelton structure).

I hope this becomes helpful, and I look forward to seeing what the community can come up with!

Thanks for reading.

I want to do a Tomb Kings dragon- a giant mummified beastie with wings made from inscribed parchment stretched between the bones.

I have yet to pick my base dragon, but I have a fairly good idea of how to do it once I do.

I have recently been diagnosed with swelling in the brain, so please excuse spelling mistakes and faulty sentences. I am losing my ability to type and talk effectively, but dammit, that is not going to stop me from trying.

OOOOOOH.

Well. Here's my idea for a weapon of massive destruction if I were ever to collect Orks.

Essentially a huge seismic hammer that cracks the surface of the planet when things go pear-shaped, to destroy the world. If the Orks can't have it, no one can! Sadly, it would require a large Ork army to make it viable (apocalypse) and I really don't have the money to back it up.

Another idea I had was making a brood of tyrant guard from the old 3rd edition tyrants. Use their massive heads as shields.

Then I had this brainwave of a diorama showing the fallacy of the Tau's image of the greater good. It'd be a column of Fire warriors heading for the front line a long an old imperial highway, their armour all resplendent and glowing, all spit and polish, and then, coming in the opposite direction, parallel to the, Fire warriors that were coming back from their rotation. their armour'd be scraped and cracked, there'd be broken equipment, and improvised gear. Lots of injuries as well, probably a couple of hand carried stretchers, that kinda thing.

I want to convert a Forgeworld Elysian Tauros Venator to look more like vehicle that operates behind enemy line on desert worlds: extra tires, lots of fuel containers, ramps (to put under the tires if they get stuck in the sand), dust filters, tarps to cover the weapons when not in use, etc.

I assume you're inspired by British SAS jeeps and trucks circa WWII? If not do a little googling and you can probably find some great pictures to help you.

On a similar note, I wonder how hard it would be to scratch build one of those without the kit out of model car and truck parts.

I always wanted to do a full fledged steryotype redneck/ hillbilly imperial gaurd regiment, complete with plaid jackets, trucker hats, beer guts, suspender pants. The commissar or regiment commander (i dont play guard so i dont know there ranks and such) would be the largest son of a gun of the bunch.

Huge Admech Army, consisting of

Codex Eldar: Sentinels w/ 2 weapons as War Walkers, Skitari as genetic/mechanic enhanced super-trooper (aspect warriors of all kinds), Chimeras w/ anti-grav turbines (a la stormraven + landspeeder) as Eldar Tanks...
With the amazing Omega Tiamat with a melta-gun from one arm as an warp-power-engined. Avatar

Codex Tau: Lots of Servitors as "suck in cc, but carry pimped-up-bolter" Warriors, , Again Anti-grav-Chimeras as Tanks (with a fw Laser-Destroyer count as railgun), ethereal as servitor-commander... Jump-packed old school robots as classic Suits...
Super-upgraded Ogryns w/ jump packs and techy stuff as xv 9..

Codex Tyranids: Genetic Manipulation anyone? Lots of programmed zealot slaves, either with guns or implant claws, who are just dumb without the lead of mutated space marine-like leaders....

And, another one:
Codex Deamons: a "pure" Khorne army, with a ton of proxys:
smaller Bloodletters, replace arms with Tyranid scythed talons: Deamonettes
a slim bloodletter (see deamonettes), legs replaced with (chaos warriors marauders) cavalry torso & legs: Seekers of Slaanesh
Big bloodletter (see deamonettes) with MC- scythed talons, legs replaced w/ (elite chaos knights) cavarly torso & legs: Fiend of Slaanesh
Slim Bloodthirster (or maybe Avatar) with tyranid MC-scythed Talons: Keeper of Secrets

blood-red lizard saurus warriors w/ horns, and electric-blue-poison, dropping from its weapon: Plaguebearers
Kroxigors w/ horns, blood red... : Beasts of Nurgle
Carnosaur with a huge version of saurus warrior swords: Great Unclean one
Even smaller tyranid rippers (like the saurus painted): Nurglings

a bunch of flying bronze skulls (think Doom!) or tiny red deamons throwing flaming skulls: Horrors
BIG Skulls: Think Defiler Heads... : Flamers of Tzeentch
Lord of Change / Screamers... no Idea yet...

Bloodletters without swords, but tyranid gargoyle wings: Furies

@ Brotherjulian: Exactly. I was just watching a WWII movie last month, and that's what started the idea.

A couple of other ideas that have been running thru my mind are:
Take the Chainfist for the Ironclad Dread, cut the Chainfist off of the part where it attaches to the rest of the arm. Do the same thing to a 2nd IC Dread CF and glue the 2 back on the original arm (with some plasticard and green stuff work) to 40k version of the 'jaws of life'. I call them the 'jaws of death'
EDIT: Rough idea of what I'm planning:

Sculpt (out of green stuff) an eagle head to mount over the front wheel of the SM Bike.
and/or
Sculpt an eagle on the front fender. The head is part of the top of the fender, the legs/claws are part of the forks 'grabbing' the wheels, the tails is part of the bottom back of the fender, and the wings sweep upward to the handlebars.

I had that idea before too, but I wold slap him on a wolf and go with Space Wolves! It fits with their lore and all!

If I could, I would make a scale Firestorm Frigate ship. I need an Imperial Navy presence in my 40K games! Sure, the frigate would be massive and terribly difficult to transport/move/play with, but there aren't any ships!

I know that if I ever make a Space Marine army, they are going to be the Kick Ass Marines. Basically a pun on all OTT action movies from the 80s, and any SC or chapter master type would be some variation on a Stallone or Schwarzenegger character of some kind. Then the Sgts and such would be posed in super action poses with cigars and the whole thing.
It would be expensive because all their arms would be Chaos Marauders arms, so they have that sleeveless look. Where the Pretty Marines are pretty and feminine, the Angry Marines are REALLLLY pissed off, the Kick Ass Marines would kick ass, and chew bubble gum..........and they are fresh out of bubble gum.

That is one of the most awesome conversion ideas I have ever heard!!! I may have to steal it

Valkyrie wings on the back. A Forge World 'Hades Breaching Drill' for one of the hands. A Demolisher front for the chest cannon. The possibilities are endless!!!
