Just signed up and looking forward to the "Dakka" experience. Bought my son the 2nd. edition (quickly became 3rd. edition) 40K game in the late 90's. Gee, I miss those vortex grenades chasing my army units around the tabletop!
Quickly became addicted to plastic and metal crack. Have collected one of all 9 chaos legion armies (2000pt. range) as well as a variety of other 40K armies. Like to build and convert and paint (may never catch up to all that needs painting!). Hobbyist first and gamer second. Probably spent more cash on "bits" than I care to disclose.
Like to travel locally to enter tourneys. Went to a couple old Baltimore tournements (remember them!). Hopefully, when I master using this newfangled computation machine I will post up some pictures ("hulk smash Vista"). Next up, heading off to DakkaDakkaCon at Showcase Comics tomorrow. Great place to game (they have a''battle bunker"-remember those!).

Since the traditional greeting of "Welcome to Dakka" won't work in this circumstance (ie you've been a lurkin here already for awhile) I will have to resort to a much less used new user greeting.

Unfortunately, my son has branched off into Hordes/Warmachine and video games. We actually saw a demo of 40K in a local comic/gaming shop, which seems to be a successful way GW recruits new blood. This shop is now out of business. Ironically, the manager of the local GW store was the manager of this old comic shop.
