my question involves titan weapons.
most of their profiles say they are something like str 9 ap 2 7inch blast.
so does that scatter???
obviously the flame template weapon and vulcan bolter make sense to me but what about the blast weapons??
do they scatter and if so by how much?
also can someone clarify D weapons for me please. i get that they are instant pen on tanks, they also instant kill all inf that they hit except eternal warriors who take a wound. but what about void shields? also check over my interpretation to make sure i am correct.

lastly as i understand it titans get to move 12" and fire all guns correct?? (except warhound who can run faster and fire only 1 or no guns)

for purposes of this discussion lets talk warhounds as that is what i will be running.

thanks in advance.

They scatter the same way as ALL blast weapons scatter. So as normal.

You are correct on S, but they dont automatically pass through void shields.

Superheavies can move their maximum normal speed and fire all weapons, so 12" for titans and 6" for most super heavy tanks

Actually, they do automtically bring down one void shield. If you hit a void shield, it's resolved as if you were shooting at AV12, and if your score a glance or a pen the void shield is brought down. So, since a Strength D weapon autopens, you automatically brign down a void shield! Of course, even a Warhound has 2 void shields, so I'd recommend against using your Strength D weapons against the shields.

Also note, Strengtrh D also denies cover save, and yes they do indeed scatter.

I meant "automatically "ignores" void shields" - it still expends itself against the shield, but takes it down.

IT's what vulcan megabolters are for....

Oh of course you're right. They DO automatically pass through one void shield though. But dear god....I never even thought of hat as a use for a Vulcan. I'm kinda cusing not getitng a mega bolter now....even though it's one of the worst guns for a Titan, I'll be damned if it doesn't look cool.

Sweet Emperor, someone really does believe in Gattling Good, don't they? But yeah, I may be picking a mega bolter out later, just so I can swap guns around on my Warhound.

In binary scrap code in my case.

Possibly with more emphasis on "blood" and ""so ends all followers of the corpse emperor"....

thanks all. questions anwsered.
on another note i kind of like the mega bolter. especially on a warhound. yes you forgo the big lasers or blastgun but it rips squads apart and can sure kill void shields. shot one takes out the shields then that leaves the lasers to rip into the hull and do some damage.

how many other tanks have shields besides titans though because that might effect when i deploy the bolter

thanks again

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

IIRC, the only vehicles that will have voids are Titans(Eldar and Imperial) and Big Mek Stompas. some flyers might have voids too.

Generally, i wouldn't waste any Titan weaponry on killing voids. use tank or infantry weapons for that stuff.

i run a DB turbolaser and PBG myself. StrD and the giant blast from the PBG are better against infantry then a VMB. of course i have a Stormlord too, which has a better VMB anyway.

use las cannons and the like for taking down shields. why fire the titan with D weapons first?

Agreed, heavy weapons like lascannons, missile launcher and autocannons should be used to take down void shields. As I recall, Eldar titans have holo fields instead of void shiels, and holo fields are something like a 4+ invul save if you moved? But in any case, yes. Best tatic is bring down the voids with heavy weapons and then use the D weaponary to beat up the armor.

But remember, as awesome as the megabolter looks, reemember the Warhound Titan is a agreat place to get big heavy weaponry. Turbo lasers that ignore cover armor and instant death anything they touch are far too awesome to pass up in favor of the mega bolter. The same logic aplies to the mega bolter as applies to the Punisher cannon: sure it seems great on paper but in reality accuracy and cover saves are going to screw you over.

so my thoughts now are that the PBG and turbo lasers are the thing to use.

While the double DBTLD warhound is the "best" warhound, point for point (4 5" Strength D blasts a turn from a bs4 model is hard to beat) I just love the actual *look* of the Vulcan. Nothing says "bad ass" quite the same as 10 barrels of death....

That and it's not exactly fun to JUST kill everything on the first turn...it's much more fun if the battle is close. Don't try and go to an Apoc game trying to be competitive...go for fun! Like Nos said, you can not beat the look of the Vulcan Megabolter. I mean....it just looks like the most bad ass thing ever, and I would run away screaming in terror if that thing ever swung in my general direction.

As above - Apocalypse should be about the story, not just about what is the most killy weapon. It's why I hate the idea of "pick up" apocalypse games, they just dont really work as a concept.

If you get a good story, some reason for a few titans to be stomping around (if you read titanicus you will see how rare massed engine battles are) and you will have more fun with the game - especially if not all objectives are known to all players, makes it hugely entertaining when it turns out yoru chaos "team mate" was actually plotting to kill you and take your place as leader

Why do I have a feeling you were the one who took your teammates place, Nos?

By the way, remind me to never have you on my side, especially since I'm loyalist.

firstly i am currently reading titanicus (great read and thats why i built my titan in the first place)

secondly. if i run marines am i allowed to throw their tank commander into the titan. my first thought is no because he is a "tank" commander and the titan is a super heavy "walker" what do you guys think?

As I recall, the rules for Sergeant Chronus is that he can only ride in tanks in the Space Marine codex. Givent that no Titan is in C:SM, no, you can not take Chronus running a Titan. Remember, Titans are controlled by the AdMech, and are loaned out to various battlefront, the Astartes and the Guard do not have their own Titans.

Don't treat your titans like they're invincible. They're not. Keep them well protected by your own units.....actually:

Me, turn on my own side? Never

I was in a campaign weekend on the chaos side; we had a warmaster to lead our domain, but the first time he lost we fed him to the doomsday machine and someone else took over - if only they'd done that to Abaddon!

I even had to play on the *pffft* loyalist side once, apparently my chaos warhound wasnt spiky enough to notice....it took 3 vindi shells, first two dropped the shields, then pen-6,6,6,6 then 20" Strength D explosion THat'll teach em to trust a chaos machine - took out half my own side!

AdMech for titans; chronus wouldnt have a clue how to pilot even a normal hard plug warhound, never mind a fully amniotic tank Warlord or Reaver- his mind wouldnt take it. So no, not a hope there I'm afraid!

Its best to use D weapons on structure points use normal weapons to down shields.

The blasts scatter

e.g. 10" blast never misses if you have LOS (e.g. -bs 3)
cause 2D6 scatter must equal a 11/12 to miss

The apoc blast template e.g. The one with the numbers on does not scatter.

Sounds like an awesome campaign...wait...fed to the doomsday machine? O.o What was that? A plus one on all rolls to set it off? But yes, that is why traitor must remain traitor and can never be forgiven!

It was over in Bristol, was awesome fun

It really should have been a plus one, although I love that apocalypse sheet - the guy who fielded it had a simple plan: drop it in the middle, and set it off as soon as possible.

Awesome! Yeah, my game club up here has a big Apoc game against another local store every year. I'm bringing my Warhound this year, and hopefully it survives better than yours did.

I considered bringing a Deathstrike Vortex....now THAT is a fun Apoc sheet too, though I have to admit, the Doomsday Device does have an awesome sheet, especially the requirement that you issue a grandiose demand...I wonder how that would go over in YMDC....I'm tempted now.

The one, best piece of advice I can give you is....

Have at least 1 VMB on a Titan, or similar SHV.

I have an Emperor. Ever seen something with Blast weapons trying to shoot down a Thunderhawk?

You won't.

Whilst AA mounts/pintle mounts are generally rare, Valkyries etc cause Titans headaches. Get 1 VMB, and at least you have 15 tries to bring down the little mongrels
