I wonder since you used rapid prototyping for your orky boss display piece wether you are planning to use that technique anymore or was it a one time deal? for instance the dread hammer might have come out nicely in a nice high detail nylon powder?

the need for a decent (possibly true scale) ork mega armour alternative is Dire in my opinion,

No Games Wrokshop I am not going to pay your extortioate prices for a undramatic lump of resin/metal that looks just like the other three I already bought from you............

I am of the belief that the model needs more dramatic posing options however I have found a thread on this board with a kitbashed Ghazghkul that's almost perfect
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/359759.page I don't know how possible this piece or a new model based losely around this piece would be with a cnc machine... undercutts a plenty there I think.

Just a sugestion but Dark Eldar pain tokens or at least bases with a couple of holes/magnets to attatch pain token to?

on the mirrored bases fron an old Modelmaker trick I used for water on architectural models was to take your mirrored perspex and paint the back with a really light coat of paint so as to protect the mirror from scratching then a heavy coat then some parcel tape to give it real protection. aslong as you trim the tape to the base it should be safe as houses and pretty as a picture, Also for water a splatter coat of acrilic varnish or clear coat made a great dimpled effect but thats a bit off topic.

And before i forget again.

I LOVE THE NEW BARACADES.....

the simplicity of the pieces wouldn't really lend themselves to angles as then your looking at having to saw/sand the edges of the angled pieces to fit however once figured out and a couple of jiggs made it wouldn't be hard to mas produce, remember they're cutting these with laser cutters which only do straight cuts and cutting the baracade to an angle you have to think of all the up and down slope pieces so an angled piece cut to an angle with an angled edge,

Although the easiest way to figure it out would be to take one and ste your disc sander to the right angle and jam it in there untill you hit the right point then mesure all the various angles you just created.

also are you talking internal or external angle there? or would people want both. Basicaly it's about two or three days of real headache to figure it all out properly and make the jiggs needed.

I go away for a few days and look what happens. You guys have done an awesome job there, can't wait untill payday to get my filthy orky hands on a set of these to orkify

Mekboy Hammerin' Somethin'

I think given the versitility of the metods of base production that they can probably make any size base you want given enough time... have you tried sending the guys an email through their website?

I have never tried this but is it possible to cut polystyrene rods and tubes with a laser cutter?

So glad to see your endevors are comming together for you... Girlfriends shouldn't be allowed to play with laser cutters or any form of powered tool. ((only kidding))

I Exaulted this thread as soon as I saw the button. I didn't know what it was about or what it would do but I have enough vocabulary to realise that exaulting something probably isn't going to be a bad thing.

hey guys I sent you a autocad file which is a rough version only for a quick quote any chance you've got to it yet?

Mekboy Hammerin' Somethin'

Cool I look forward to hearing back from you guys, hopefully soon as I only have about 11.5 months to get this project done plus a Gargant...... Ohhh yeah and I'm already drawing up the gargant for you to cut the skeleton for aswell....

Nooo I just sent that file for a rough quote I've made minor changes already, I just wanted a ballpark figure of how much i need to set aside.

Or i could just stop fiddling with it and send you the completed file i suppose...

well technicaly they arn't, this would be the second stage whereby the troops have secured the area and they want their base to be built up a little bit afaik so these parts would have been delivered by heavy lifter or trucks...

With the shape ways shop do you still get a profit for people using your object?

Ohhh very nice but I wanna see the container. And where's my invoice?
Made in gb
Mekboy Hammerin' Somethin'

The crates look good, you might want to examine the possibilities of making some double long or tripple long for those really big things like axles and other stuff.

Ohhh why is the money always gone!
Made in gb
Mekboy Hammerin' Somethin'

Very impressive work there. how about having a container that is basicaly like a pigeon hole system or like a bunch of lockers. Maybe a couple of boxes could be removed to make it odvious. this would show that the container is full of smaller boxes I.E. ammo crates.
Made in gb
Mekboy Hammerin' Somethin'

well lets say the ammo box container is big enough for boxes/ lockers to be placed 2 deep if they are removable then presumably they'd be back to back so that you can access it from either side in which case have maybe two or three boxes removed from either side and if your going to rapid prototype this I would suggest making the empty space slightly smaller at the back so it looks deeper and would allow the moulding process more easily. or figure out the cage as six sides that can be cast/cut and assembled with some cast pieces such as drive trains or guns to place inside.

How about a stack of boxes that's clearly half depleted, that could be cast rather easily.

Ohhh I like that man, what's the spacing vs thickness of the fence? I'd guess 3mm is probably the thinnest you'd go right? how about a double layer diagonal cuts then a spacer and opposite diagonal cuts?
Made in gb
Mekboy Hammerin' Somethin'

You could put a double or tripple scribe on the back of the fence support that would cut into the surface enough to place a sting or wire (possibly fishing wire through it) What do you think?

Mekboy Hammerin' Somethin'

I have looked at them again and I think the second is my favorite and I would deffinatly second the call for guard/watch towers. Have you played around with a diamond grid pattern like a really thik chain link fence?

just like the one above but diamons not hexagons... Although the hexagons do look cool.

Heresy! I'll just quote the ones who should know:

Or just a slot at the right height for someone to shoot through without showing to much of themselves to be shot at? although I can see why multiple slots might be usefull as some units have different heights like wraithguard/ dreadnoughts excetera

Looking good there guys. I like the pods. I'd like to see a two and or three sotry version aswell.

The sample thing- How about a road sign with stand, maybe do a heavy scribe of "stop" or "orks you have been warned"

Hey warmill I had a thought if you want I would be interested in designing some more vehicles that you could put up as kits? If the idea interests you, you can drop me a PM?

WarMill wrote:Ah - hah - hah - haaaah way ahead of you! If you look closely at the barricade, it wouldn't take much to make it suitable for embedding in a gaming table would it? Maybe just a couple of pieces to add to the back? And perhaps that V-plate makes a good murder ditch that could be filled with all sorts of mines and barbed wire and stuff?

excelent graphics there man.
