'Going down t'maufactorum te get us a lasghun, wunt tek a moe'

Just wan't to hear your opinions on which imperial guard regiment would sport a good 'gritty' yorkshire accent a la 'Red riding'?

I would probably go with cadians as 'it's grim up near the eye of terror'.

*For you Yanks, Sean Bean's 'Scottish' accent is what i'm talking about.

I'm really quite enjoying the image of Tallarns speaking with a broad Yorkshire accent...

For some reason I can see the Mordian Iron Guard as being Northern. The Cadians have always seemed more American to me.

Praetorian might do but it would only be the lower ranks...
Then again you could have pretty much any accent in that army if they are reflected exactly...

The Praetorians were always cockney in my mind.

Praetorians could really be anything...
Welsh
Scottish
Northern
Southern
Irish
Cockney
Farmer
And then the dozen or so other accents from various cities...

They could also feasibly have accents from the various countries in the British Empire...
It all kinda depends on quite how closely based on the Empire Praetoria is supposed to be.

Oh, I'm not disputing that. Great potential there, especially to make units of 'auxiliaries' with, say, the Tallarns and such.

Were I a richer man... with a time machine.

Yes! That would be awesome! I'd really like to convert some gatling gun heavy bolters too. Cart wheels on every heavy weapon, of course.

And Roughriders. Definitely Roughriders.

Roughriders would be interesting...
I like the idea of having an artillery regiment.
Get 2 platoons and as many mortars as possible.
Heavy support consists of 3 squadrons of basilisks or your favorite flavour of pie plate.
everything else is personal choice.

That would be nice. An interesting army to play, and competitive I think. Main falling point would be lack of AT. I would be tempted to throw in the Roughriders for that. I can't remember off the top of my head, can they take meltabombs? Would be damn risky tank-hunters, but what a glorious charge! Visually speaking, it would look spectacular.

They get krak grenades standard and the sarge can take meltabombs.

I keep thinking of lascannons modelled as normal cannons.

Lascannons can be cannon but with techy bits on...
Autocannons can be cannon with no techy bts on...
Heavy bolters can be gatling guns
mortars can be mortars
Rocket launchers would be similar to mortars except with a more horizontal firing position

Hmm, yeah, a battery of lascannons would do the trick.

Kraks and one melta might not cut it. Even with meltaguns in the squad.

European army ?
It's a little unexpected ... I do not see what army it could refer. Same for the "European" army as an independent concept.

Catachans make me think of US army, that wich appears in movies, at last.
Cadians are less specific, imho.

Definitely Cadians. Just listen to them talk in Dawn of War 1 and Dawn of War 2 : Retribution.

Especially the vehicles, like the Manti or the Chimera.

That's the closest you will get. They definitely don't sound American either. Imo there was a certain amount of work put in to make them sound different than all the others factions.

Scotland

I would agree that for me the Catachans are the Americans in 40k. I think valhallans would be a good choice for scottish as it is a bit silly to imagine them having 'Rrushhun' accents. To me steel legion are chinese/oriental, i think there are a couple pieces of artwork where they appear to have *ahem* 'oriental' eyes under their masks. Praetorians would talk like Michael Caine obviously. Mordians is an interesting one, the models have very grim looking faces so i reckon they are the surest bet.

Steel legion Chinese? Can you show some pictures?
The only one I could find was this one:

Not meant offensive but one picture, painted by a hobyist isn't fluff in my eyes.

And how come the Valhallans are Scottish? They got those awesome hats...
They are a Russian stereotype.
