So leader of my DA army is almost done, only needs paint and something to make him 'stand out' more.
So any idea how I can make him stand out more?
any comments, tips and tricks are welcome.

Its Dark Angels right? the robe and hooded guys?

Give him a hood and some sort of robe :'P

Yes it is Dark Angel and I would but metal is too hard to work for my skills...
And I was thinking winged helmet too, but again it's metal model...

Maybe look at using greenstuff to create a robe/hood for him

i agree about the robe etc,he is going to look sick.

Honestly IMO I think robes and hoods do not look good on termis. A tarbard or loin cloth looks good but a robe just looks out of place due to the bulk of the model. Same thing with a hood, it just looks out of place on a termi model. Maybe a hood would work with a GK termi model since it doesn't have all that bulk above the shoulders.

On a up note the conversion is beautiful.

And it has robe(ish) thing (tabard?) on it.

Go old school. Grab some sort of flag/standard and put that on the model. A big one preferably.

Also, you could easily cut and sand the eagle off of that shield and replace it with either a FW icon or the icons that come with the land speeders. There's problay one on the Dark Angels upgrade anyway.

Hmmm... Nice idea, don't know about flag... Maybe? But it needs some chapter icongraphy IMO.

He does look like he needs to dark angelsified- some suggested the shield which is a big space- a bit of work there may well be enough! Personally I disagree with hood comment- I think they really suit the chapter, but that's just me- you may not have another robed DA character.

If it were me, I'd build it from plastic- much easier to do what you want, but as that isn't an option

3 small customisations- bionic eye, maybe some extra belt kit.

IF he's an angel... then why is his name Belial?

I would use a different shoulder pad for him. That one is the Ravenwing one, according to the fluff, he was a regular marine sergeant before getting promoted. maybe use a blank one and decorate it?

That's the deathwing shoulderpad...the broken sword.
It looks alright. Maybe using the DA strom shield would look better. And a banner is really the only other thing to add, use the right incons on it and it would be easily recognisable as Belial though.

Doesn't the DA upgrade sprue have a DA storm shield? Maybe use that?

I also speak against putting a hood. Lots of people use the hooded head from the upgrade sprue for Belials, and it never looks good. It just doesn't fit a Termie. Just put a banner on him and he's all ready to go to smash some heads, I say.

Nice conversion regardless, and if you don't feel you have the skill to model a hood or robe, I wouldn't do it - stick with what you know until you feel confident enough to branch out

Yeah, DA SS would add some chapter insignia it needs. Any idea what banner should I use? Or where to make it from?

I thought that about the shoulder pad- but why is the a ravenwing termed shoulder pad?!

There was a particularly nice conversion of him done- based on lysander.

He does have personal hereldry, although the deathwing one would do

I end up saying this alot with conversion stuff but look at Scibor's stuff. He has "angels" shields and shoulder pads that would be hot on a termi. As for a banner, I have seen this before on models and is perfect for Belial.

I recently did the same thing but I magentized the hand and arm so I could put LCs on him as well. I used the Deathwing SS from the upgrade kit, anything to make him look like he is a Dark Angel is a must.

Okay I changed the shield to DA SS and there is banner too.
I'm changing shoulder pad, when I got one.

I think a very simple idea to make belial stand out amongst his bone white Deathwing brethren is to paint him DA Green!

You could argue this two ways, one being that the Dark Angels have a secret they're keeping and this fits in with that, the other, and IMO the more likely of the two is that GW just pulled a few cool sounding names from quasi religious texts and they don't work perfectly together. You've got Azrael, Samael and Ezekiel being angels, then Asmodai, Belial and Belphegor being from the complete other end of the spectrum. It's personal opinion beyond that, until someone asks whichever dev did their background originally.

Yeah that would work, but I think Im ,keeping him bone white.

When i think of belial i think of this model, which i will be using in my DW army. Maybe use this guy as inspiration?

These would really help jazz up an otherwise stock looking model!

I'd also contemplate taking a dremmel tool to the metal models head then replacing it with one of the hooded dark angel heads from the upgrade sprue... Should make for a killer looking mini!

Okay so many people say I need hooded head, so here is 2 reasons why not:
1. Im beginner and it would be too hard to take that metal head off.
2. I think it would look bit silly, but thechronotrigger has changed my mind. I mean really thats really AWESOME model.

If you plan on using a Dremel tool, all you'll need is some patience and one of these tips for your Dremel tool. I've taken the head off the same model using that setup and am very happy with the results!

But..... maybe practice on an old and... unwanted... model first, you know.... just to be safe
