So, I've ordered a load of stuff.

Including a mahoosive GW order consisting of 13 boxes, more Dr Who on VHS, and other assorted nonsenses.

And what happens? They try to deliver, during the week when I'm you know, AT WORK.

No prob thinks I, I'll just give them a buzz, and arrange a saturday delivery. Got enough entertainement to keep me in doors awaiting it's arrival. But no. Be it UPS with my GW stuff, Parcelforce with 18 VHS, or even bloody Argos with me new Freezer, gues what....THEY DON'T DELIVER AT WEEKENDS! That's right, the two days in the week most ideal for having stuff turn up that needs to be signed for, and they say no.

So have run out of holiday at work, I now need to take an unpaid day off, just to get my stuff. This is bloody ridiculous. Oh, and Parcelforce, as I found out when I drove over to the next town, didn't take the videos back to their depot. Oh no. They just said they did to lull me into a false sense of security. Where is my precious box of completist, vintage joy? At the Post Office. Just round the corner. Not 5 minutes up my road. The very Post Office that, had they felt leaving me a note saying so might be useful., I could have nipped up any day this week....spankers THE LOT OF THEM!

It means you have to get up early.

And find someone to drive me to whichever far flung turdhole they've set up in....and with the number and size of boxes for the gaming goodies, Ninja Chris' Fiesta simply isn't up to the task!

My post mans really good, if we are not in, and it looks important/big parcel he would hold onto it and leave a note to go and collect it at his house. My dad is a contractor, so building supliers are always giving him bottles of whiskey at christmas for being loyal and not going too B&Q which is actually more expensive. We give the whiskey to the postman, he keeps our stuff safe. I don't really remember my point. Try giving your postman whiskey

Because the Postal Address we have there is a PO Box, and nobody seems to want to deliver there. Not even Pizza companies!

In the future do you have a family member or evil twin where you can just have it delivered there that is there during the day?

Well, I'm from russia, and let me tell you this, I ordered some english dubbed DVDs, and asked for overnight delivery.
They came in a week later, meanwhile, years after I moved to america, I ordered some GW from one group on amazon, an anime plushie from another, and a miku hatsune doll, all of it was expected to arrive in 5-10 days, it all came at once. I love amazon.com, they also have a lot of cross dressing supplies for a decent price.

Well, thats just effing marvellous.

Had word from my local GW Manager, that if I can't arrange delivery by Thursday, my £3,000 order is going back to GW.

CURSES! Seriously need to chase my boss up about the unpaid days leave, or I'm bollocksed, simply because UPS don't deliver on one the two most convenient days of the week. Grrr.

Well, should be getting it today. Had to take a day off, unpaid, to receive it.

Think I'll write to GW and make plain that using a delivery company which doesn't deliver on a Saturday simply isn't Cricket!

It's not good, it's awesome The more of "us" (being different from the perceived norm) that make ourselves known, the more acceptance there will be in the grand scheme of things. That and it gets lonely being the only truly notable deviant round these parts.

^Thread highjacking in progress!!^

On to the original topic.....not very convenient for them to tell you one thing and do another. Complaining to them will not fix your current situation however letting them know the predicament they put you in may get it right the next time, I have my doubt though unless you buy quantities like this often. I currently live in a small town and the post office is not open on Saturday like others. The lady that works their is ancient, she sorts the mail but closes the office and makes you wait until Monday. I have to go to Idaho (next state over no less.....it has the closest town to me) to get mail out on Saturdays.

Generally, as rule of thumb, if it wouldn't take more than 5-10 days, I will just use standard shipping, like when I would make my cosplay, it would take a month to finish, so I had time, as opposed to a new phone, which I prefer overnight.

I think the OP was a little eager for standard shipping. I had to wait 4 hours for a 1 hour photo once and was pretty mad. I paid for 1 hour because I wanted it quickly having things to do etc. UPS has left items at my door before even though they weren't supposed to (not items needing signing just instructions not to leave.) I live in the sticks and I am sure they did not want to try the trip again, and if someones nicks my stuff I probably see them daily. Oh, and ya jumped back on topic, I was just teasing you folks you did not need to take me seriously. Peanut gallery and all.

Am thinking there is an bit of irony in all this.
£3000 worth? what's that add up to these days, a couple of Landraiders and a battalion box?

Seriously it is a pain in the nethers.
Is there not a trusty neighbour that could take delivery for you.
Am lucky that I have good people around that will take in parcels.

Good luck in getting it sorted, hope you get the delivery without too much more hassle.

Yeah, even if you have to sign for it (and check the signature online to see where the effing hell your package is) the 'signature' looks remarkably like the postman just wiped the pen across his pda

Oh, I don't mind, trust me, I get looks at work all the time, peanut galleries are nothing.

I usually just pay for the post office to send it. I'd rather wait and save money than pay out nose for overnight.
