I'm bored, and having seen this picture



I decided I wanted to make actual rules for the ponies. I'd be using the Hasbro toy, so the rules represent this.

Fleet

D'awwwww!: The ponies are one of the most adorable creatures in the universe. Even the most hardened soldiers will hesitate to fire upon them, and even more loathe to harm them. To represent this, all ponies have a 4+ invulnerable save.

Cutie Mark Powers: The cutie marks on each pony's flank grant them special magical powers. Each pony counts as a psyker, but the bonuses given to them for their cutie mark powers are not necessarily psychic attacks.

Fluttershy
Pts:

Pegasus: Fluttershy can move as jetpack infantry.

Cutie Mark Powers: Fluttershy's gifts allow her the ability to influence even the most blood thirsty beasts. Fluttershy has the Lash of Submission Psychic Power.

Flutterrage: If Fluttershy ever fails a psychic check, or her psychich powers are nullified she goes furious at the impetuousness of the targets. Fluttershy must move towards the nearest non-vehicle unit, and attempt to cast her Cutie Mark Power on it. The effects of Flutterage wear off once she succesfully casts her power.

Rarity
Pts:

Unicorn: Rarity can use two psychic powers a turn, and may use the same power multiple times.

Cutie Mark Powers: Rarity's gifts let her stun others with her own fabulousness, and can shroud herself and her friends, if she so chooses. Rarity has the Nightshroud psychic power, as well as the following psychic shooting attack.

Range: 18"
S: 7*
AP: 5

*This attack does not cause wounds. Instead, if the target is hit, all models in the target unit become stunned. Their WS, BS and I all drop to 1 for a full turn.

I VANT TO BE ALONE: If Rarity ever fails a psychic check, she must always move away from the nearest unit, either friendly or enemy for one turn.

Applejack
Pts:

Earth Pony: Applejack has +1 S and Toughness

Applebucking: As an Earth pony, Applejack lacks psychic powers, but instead has the experience from years of Applebucking. Applejack has the following shooting attack.

Applebucking
Range: 12", Assault 2, Twinlinked
S: 4
AP: 4

You saying I can't?!: Applejack pursues her goals with a single minded determinations. Once she begins attacking a unit, she must attempt to fire and/or assault the unit until it is destroyed.

I'm surprised that Fluttershy's "Flutterrage" power isn't The Stare. I mean, it's powerful enough to take on a full-grown Basilisk/Cockatrice!

She does have something Stare like, I gave her Lash of Submission.

But the Stare doesn't cause movement, which is how I always thought of Lash. It's more of a Pinning power.

I was interpreting it as the ability for Fluttershy to get animals and other creatures to do what she tells them to do...

A unit of those would be scary on the table. "What are we facing today lads." "P-Ponies Sir." "What?" *grabs binoculars* "Emperor protect us..."

Explains a lot. Why the ponies are never mentioned in the fluff for example.

That's because they are one of the missing chapters.

The lack of the Mark of Sodomuffin in this thread does not please me.

Pinkie Pie is watching you. FOREVER!: Pinkie Pie has an uncanny ability to appear when and where she wants. She has the Infiltrate special rule, as well as Marbo's He's Right Behind You! special rule.

Pinkie Sense: Pinkie Pie has the uncanny ability to predict when and where things will happen. She has a 3++ invulnerable save to represent this.

Cupcakes........ : Pinkie Pie goes slightly insane if her friends abandon her. At the start of every turn (both yours and your opponents!) that she is more than 12" away from a friendly unit, she must take a Leadership check. If she fails a Leadership check, Pinkie Pie gains the Rage Special Rule, and must assault both friendly and enemy units if she can.

Rainbow Dash
Pegasus: Rainbow Dash moves as jump infantry.

Cutie Mark Powers: Rainbow Dash is exceptionally fast, and can fly faster than almost any pony. Rainbow Dash can run and shoot in the same turn.

Sonic Rainboom: If Rainbow Dash has both moved and ran in the same turn, she may attempt to use the Sonic Rainboom attack. If Rainbow Dash passes an initiative check, she may use the following attack.

Sonic Rainboom
Type: Assault 1, Large Blast*
Range: 36"
Strength: 10
AP: 1

*The Blast Marker may only be laid directly in front of Rainbow Dash.

I'M GONNA FAIL!: If Rainbow Dash fails the initiative check for her Sonic Rainboom attack, she is immediately flung backwards 4d6 inches. In addition, in the next turn, she may not move as she recovers from her failure.

Jetpacks would make Dash slightly slower than Fluttershy, if more agile. I'd be inclined to give the jetpack to Fluttershy and give Dash a turboboosters move.

Perhaps I should do that. Dash does have a problem with hitting things, doesn't she?

ANd I still have to do twilight sparkle.

Apple Jack seems a tad under powered, maybe equip her with some sort of power fist thing, or give a strength bonus to charges?

Counts as having Weaken Resolve and Soulstorm powers and the Psychic choir special rule. If the unit suffers from Perils of the Warp remove one pony as a casualty. Note that the strength of Soulstorm cannot exceed 10 no matter how many unicorn ponies are in the unit.

While I would never consider playing with My Little Pony in the way they were originally intended, I have always been fascinated by their enduring design aesthetic. Its a testament to that design that the Generation 1 ponies were such huge sellers, considering that they had exactly zero points of articulation and only featured "brushable hair". My Little Pony IMHO fills that interesting niche that bridges that gap between designer vinyl toys and the mass market. While the original Pony design is a classic landmark in industrial design - I do feel that the new sleeker bodies and stylized heads represents an overall improvement. I know Hasbro sells blanks of their mass market vinyl toys such as Mighty Muggs and the V3 ponies to collectors and customizers - anyone know if they sell the V4's as blanks?

I kinda want to convert some into the PP joke faction - the Uniherd. (Could double as Chaos Spawn in a pinch!) The "Brushable Hair" feature makes buying the commercial ones a bit of a pain for repainting.

I think Pegasus Ponies would probably have only T4 or 3, but much, much higher Initiative. Like, 7 or 8. They're Fragile, but they're Fast.

And Bolt of Friendship. If the Model hit by Bolt of Friendship is dealt its final wound by the Bolt, roll an unmodified Leadership test. If that Leadership test is failed, that model is now allied to the Ponies, with 1 wound left.

I actually like Raxmei's versions better than mine....
