So, we've all been there. We've all had those instances where your toy soldiers defy the odds and you think that maybe the Gods of your little plastic dudes just might be out there watching over them after all. So come! Let this thread be a repository of tales for us to marvel at.
The inspiration for this game in a game earlier, in which an Imperial guard command squad rolled this for its shooting hits:

Back in the days of Crew Escape Mechanism on IG tanks...
Ho Chi Bang-Bang's Tank Busta Boyz (I feth you not, that's what my opponent called them) swarm my last remaining Russ, blowing it to bits. Crew Escape Mechanism saved a whopping ONE Guardsman. Who was then charged by the same mob of Orks. And was then wounded five times in close combat.
And then went on to make EVERY BLOODY FLAK ARMOR SAVE. On, I might add, the last turn of the game. Which meant that not only wasn't he dead, but neither was the Russ (CEM meant that if any crew lived, the vehicle was only damaged)!
My opponent decided that only an Ork could survive a gang beating the likes of which my Guardsman endured, so they captured him and offered to paint him green and let him join.

This is one my brother's dice defied the odds. I guess the Dice gods favored him. My brother attacked my Carnifex (which had two wounds left) with a boltpistol. He rolled: 4,6. 6,6. I rolled 1,1. So, he killed a Carnifex with a bolt pistol.

LoneLictor: I've had a similar experience of a Guardsmen sergeant taking down a Dreadknight with his Laspistol. This Guardsmen has gone to perform well with that pistol in every game he's taken part in. A traditional house rule in the area is that he is worth one additional kill point on his own for being a "Jammy git" .

Where to start? Fire Warriors attacked by a squad of DE Wyches, inevitably bad things will happen... I have to roll a total of 14 saves on a 4+, and manage... 14 saves. These plucky fire warriors then go on to win the combat hence why the opponent now believes Tau are overpowered...
Or, of course, bringing down a Trygon in a single turn using only lasguns, with my only Commissar landing the killing blow. Same Commissar then went on to wound a Tyrant in close combat XD and he just had a pistol and CCW, no upgrades XD

Last turn of the game, my IG vet squad with shotguns, grenade launchers, and sarge's bolt pistol unload on a mob of 30 boys leaving 19-16 boyz and then assault them killing 10 and only three of my Vets fail their armor checks (they had grenadiers doctrine) and the Orks failed their morale test causing the orks to run off the objective and tie the game. Since then, those vets take turns in the CCS with Iron Hand Straken.

I had a squad of 5 Chaos Terminators and a Terminator lord hanging out near a building when a squad of 10 possessed with the power weapons power attacked me, hitting first. I ended up taking 12 power weapon wounds, and was pretty resigned to the Terminators' fate. I passed 11 5+ invuln saves, and wiped the entire unit out. It was something straight out of a BL book; Terminators just wading through a sea of mutant horrors, cutting them down like it weren't no thing.

I ended up tying a game against my friend, because I managed to kill his second squad of troops at the final turn, leaving him with one last unit of troops, which were taking cover behind my weaponless, immobilized devilfish, which he forgot to kill, letting me tie the game because I was contesting.

My favourite day was when I charged with my Blood Claws (A whole pack of 15 with a Wolf Priest) at a squad of 30 Hormagaunts.
Hormagaunt's managed to only hit about 6 times, and none of them wounded.
Blood Claws with their extra charging attacks, and rerolling because of Preferred Enemy promptly killed the entire brood.
I was shocked. So was the Nid player.

Good for me: one of my terminators took 12 wounds in one round of close combat and made all 12 saves.
Bad for me: A buddy's khorne berzerkers had 25 swings on against my squad of Black Templars and after to-hits and wounds, did 23 wounds.

And that's why I love the little buggers My luck has generally been bad. I have a tendency of getting 'mutant snake eyes'. meaning, a lotta 1's. usually when i'm dealing with plasma my biggest wtf moment was when my squad survived without any casualties against the nightbringer. they were promptly wiped out the next turn due to not having any weapons that could kill him, but that first round... he whiffled...

I had a Space Marine tactical squad charge a group of Necrons the other day. In the shooting phase prior to the attack, they got wiped out to just the sergeant remaining. It was the last turn of the game, and the only hope I had of winning was to force a Phase Out, since he had every objective tied up, and had twice as many kill points. So I charged the sergeant in anyway as a 'what the hell?' move. He managed to win combat by one wound and rout the Necrons in a sweeping advance, winning the whole game in the last phase of the last turn.

What do you do with a stunned Vindicator? You try ramming a Falcon with it! I was exactly 12 inches away, he rolled 1 for Skimmer Away! and then penetrated it...and blew it up. Given that it was a spur of the moment, 'What the hell, I've got nothing better to do with it anyway' think it worked rather well.

I remember recently when an ork with a rokkit launcha in the first move of the entire game not only destroyed my dreadnought, but destroyed it in such a way that the three devastators within range of him were killed in the resulting explosion.
R.I.P Honored Brother Tu'pac, devastators Col'trein, Sam'el Jackson, and Ek'zibit
On the other hand, iirc the game before that I was facing my friend who plays Black Templars, and my Forgefather wiped out an entire squad of Sword Brethren without a scratch and then proceeded to take down his Emperor's Champion (but by a slim margin there, he was down to one wound and died the next turn from a plasma pistol shot)

A mate of mine charged my immobilized Predator with Meganobz. He scored a grand total of 9 penetrating hits.
1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2. I kid you not.
Then there's the time when my LRC survived 3 turns of being immobilized next to a CSM Terminator with a chainfist, one guy with meltabombs and a Power Fist terminator. That led to the match being drawn, as the LRC was parked on top of an objective and thus contesting it. I ALMOST won that one too, my Ven. Dread did the same thing as the LRC except it chose the last fething turn to blow up!

Okay, here's another from me.
Picture it: The dark days of 2nd Edition, where everything was 10 times more complicated than it needed to be. Where Blind Grenades left persistant smoke markers on the field. Where every part of a vehicle had a separate hit location and damage table... (tank battles were very close range in 2nd Ed)
My opponent was grinding my IG down with his Space Marines. Guard bodies piled high. Chimeras on fire. Ratlings taking a smoke break. Space Marine Captain hadn't even gotten out of his Razorback yet, he was winning so hard.
Weaving through Blind Grenade markers, his Predator sights my last living Russ, and gives it a blast of lascannon fire. Hits and penetrates, rolling a '6'. The Russ explodes is a ginormous ball of "This was a wasted afternoon". But the blast... oh, the blast. Rolled max on blast radius. Managed to clip my opponent's Razorback, which was on the other side of a Blind Grenade marker. The blast penetrated the armor, killed the crew (and the Space Marine Captain passanger!) and blew the turret off. The flaming turret sailed high in the air...
And came down a few inches away on the Predator. Blew that up, too.
With one shot, my opponent killed my Russ... And his Predator, Razorback, and army general. I still lost that battle, but at that point, I didn't much care.

Ruthless Interrogator

|
Playing an objective game. My opponent has nothing but some Guants, a Broodlord and a load of non-scoring bugs. I have a singl Fire Warrior squad and a Broadside.
My Fire Warriors advance on to the objective held by the Gaunts. They double tap, and...wipe them out. 1-1. My Broadside fires a single shot at the Broodlord, it fails it's invuln. and goes splat. Victroy on turn 6, with one objective to nill.
An Annihalation game. I have 1 veteran with a plasma gun left, and my opponent has a wounded Hive Tyrant and loads of gribblies. 7 killpoints to 7. My Veteran double taps his Plasma gun and incinerates it. Victory.
Another, almost identical situation versus Orks; I have 1 objective, and my opponent has a single squad of Boys as his only remaining Troops, and Ghazzy. The boys are stranded in the middle on no-where and can't reach an objective in the 1 turn we have left. They can draw if I don't kill Ghazzy, on 1 wound, with the Veteran with a Plasma gun-who I had named Lucky, for always being the last survivor. I fire at Ghazzy...the gun overheats and kills Lucky. Massive anticlimax.

Purposeful Hammerhead Pilot

Good Luck: I had a single squad of 2 broadsides and 2 shield drones survive 3 turns (Not combats, turns) in CC with a full squad of Genestealers that outflanked. I still lost the game from objectives, but the omnomnom stealers never managed to make the amazing, sweeping advance my opponent had been expecting.
Bad Luck: Playing against an ork bike army, and his nob squad shoots at a similar group of broadsides. 30-odd shots, and he rolls (with TL shootas) ~22 hits, and the rerolls on the last 8 dice give him 5 more hits. Shooting, with orcs, hits 27/30 shots. Plus, for wounding he causes about 18 wounds on my broadsides. The rest of the game went about as swimmingly...
