I posted in the guitar thread, but after glancing through it I didn't really see anyone else say they were in a band.

I've been with the band for 2 years, and we've been gigging heavily until recently (usually 3-4 times a month). We've been interviewed for local papers, radio shows, etc. Recently we booted the vocalist out. We have a new one lined up and will soon be playing shows again! (And hopefully we'll change the name of the band, I've never been a fan of it)

So, are any of you guys in a band? Feel free to give a short history of your group and a link to where we can hear something!

It's my current main project, though i've been involved with more bands in more genres than I could name. I still do alot of electronic production and score/soundtrack stuff too.

I have been in two bands.

The first one was a four-piece metal act, and I played bass. It was truly awful, I don't know if the MySpace is still up, and even if it was, I wouldn't link it here because it was truly, truly awful.

The second band I was in was a three piece (vocalist/keyboardist, acoustic guitarist, and me on electric guitar, synth, and occasionally bass). I actually don't know what genre it was. This one I'm not completely ashamed to share so here you go: http://www.myspace.com/adangerouspastime "The Orchestra" and "Everything In Between" should absolutely have been refined a lot more before being recorded, and we have two or three other songs that I very badly wish we had recorded, but "Conversation Tragedies" and "Existing Only In Sleep" are all right. Our vocalist is a bit off key which was frustrating but she's been in a couple of hardcore bands and she's good at that... with a bit of practice or training, perhaps she could be quite good at clean singing. People are always shocked to learn I was involved in a band like this since my preferred genre is, by an overwhelming margin, metal. While this is true, I do have rather diverse taste in music.

I just moved and I'd like to get involved in music again, though frankly, I don't think I'm very good and I'd like to hone my skills before I do much. When I do, I think I might use some kind of Digital Audio Workstation and work solo for a while, though I would not be adverse to starting/joining a new band. If I do that, though, I really do want to be a lot better than I am now, cuz frankly, I suck.

Oh, excuse me, I thought the question was "Anyone else been banned?"...Darn these eyes of mine...

I should add that I never really contributed to either band in terms of writing. That's something else I'm going to have to get over, IE, coming up with ideas, sharing them, and having them trashed if they suck.

I used to be.... not anymore though.

I've been in and out of various bands since I was 15, played a lot of shows and had a lot of fun..
But, since my children were born ( and I've had to "settle down" a bit) my " live performances" have been somewhat limited .

In the past. Vocals/bass. Not anymore. It would be like when the guys made a band on "Desperate Housewives"... its a TV show kiddies...

Been in several bands. Always as a bass player. Mostly rock/pop, but my last band was 3 years with a reasonably successfull country act. Not successfull in the record deal sense, but sucessfull in that it was a hobby band that we actually made money at and got to open for a few big name national acts.

I quit and the band disbanded shortly before my son was born in January. Technically I'm bandless now, but we're doing an reunion show in a few weeks because a local fest liked what we did last year.

I miss the band and live music experience. You can jam and practice all you want, but nothing beats being on stage with friends in front of real people. Hopefully in a year or two I'll find a way to fit a band back into my schedule.

Actually IIRC It's KC's brother that is the "giant"...KC is a bit shorter...though he is a burly guy.
Now, I am a " Big unit" ( ) 6'4" 250 LBS...but I'll be playing...of course I could always pull a "Sid" if things got out of hand...

Now Matty on security..that could work, pay him a flat rate plus one pint for each "problem" he handles.

You'll need a sturdy bass. Something with stopping power!

Well, of the three Basses I own now...I believe my Yamaha Jazz would fit the bill...that sucker is built and heavy as hell...
