I heard it was going to be in Northern CA as well for the west coast finals, which is a big bummer-I don't see why the LA battle bunker can't do it again this year (since the north already had 1 finals with the Fantasy side of things earlier).

I'm hosting the East Coast at Showcase Comics in media Pa. Fairly sure they will not be hosting finals at the bunkes anymore. I believe for WFB it was Sacramento, and the FFG center in the midwest, so possibly a repeat of those. I'll ask today about getting the locations posted.

I wouldn't mind the FFG center since then I would actually attend since that's here in the Twin Cities...I have just have zero interest in driving to Chicago for a 1 day event

I really hope midwest is in Chicago. Minnesota would be stupid, I'm sorry to say. Chicago's within reasonable driving distance (say 4 hours) of much of the midwest. Minnesota...isn't.

They have so many semi finals in Texas but they never hav a finals in the South central region or the South east Region.

Everything is North East, North Central not even Central and West now. If they are going to have three locations they need to spread them out better or create more or just have one final location and have everyone go there.

If what I've been hearing is true it's going to be in minneapolis

Chicago is no more accessible for most of the midwest than Minneapolis is honestly. They are both pretty bad if you're driving and not flying. If you're flying it's pretty much the same thing anyway. And being a 4 hour drive for most of the midwest is a bit of a joke honestly. You're 5+ hours from anyone east of the Mississippi River which is where the majority of the midwest is. Oddly Minneapolis is actually more central to what's generally considered the midwest without the overlap of similar drive times to go east that Chicago would have with Media, PA (not that this is close to most of the east cost or eastern portions of the middle of the country).

Either way you probably want it in Chicago for the same reason I'm hopeful it's in Minneapolis, You don't want to drive 8 hours

Sidenote, a KC location would probably be the most central for the Midwest but that apparently isn't going to happen so we'll have to take what we can get.

Is there any prize??

I mean Semi Finals is a whole army what is the incentive to do finals?

I was at finals last year and two out of the three games I played I had the worst time playing.

I hate games at 2500pts and I also don't enjoy playing games against unpainted barley WYSIWYG armies.

Hate to seem like I am complaining just wondering what the incentive is for doing finals for you guys going?

Most people see Semis as the real event given how big the prize is. However (and I've never played at finals) I would say given the attitude I've seen in my group that the finals are more about bragging rights than anything.

The finals last year had 300/200/100 in online vouchers for 1st/2nd/3rd respectively. Also, they all got an invite to the throne of skulls tournament.

I don't know if I will really bother going to either as I already have an invite for getting best eldar at this years event but I can't play next year with Eldar so that takes the fun out of it =(.

I think the only reason I went to finals last year was because it was less than 20 MI from my house, some people drove from as far away as UTAH to play (at the LA battlebunker) and it had a pretty good turnout.

I think one of the main reasons for the bunkers not having the events is lack of resources (staff) in properly running the event, Phazael had to be the judge/coordinater at the LA bunker and the store owner wasn't even told by GW until after the web page announced it!

That isn't good, lol, where did you play? Last year the top 3 had to give their contact info and had to also be registered on the GW web page to get their vouchers =/. Maybe poor communication in the finals?

Check your GW online account, might be still sitting there. If not, contact the venue you were at, and/or customer service.

I personally think there should be 1 sole winner of it all.

And that the Final should be a 3 day gaming event, held in a place none other than Las Vegas!

It is a cheap location for everyone to get to, has big convention rooms that would be fantastic for such an event.

Good luck convincing GW of that. Won't increase their sales so it won't happen. Not hating on them, I just understand their business model and hosting those sorts of things barely fit in it anymore.

Sadly, none of the local stores are all that set up for that kind of large event, and the one store that could run more than 25ish or so people isn't the biggest fan of Ard Boyz. And while not Ard Boyz, we're working on a larger 40k/Fantasy/Wargaming event for next fall around this time, held smack dab in the middle of the country.

Well, according to the GW Website...

At the main event, players will compete for buckets of prizes, but more importantly, they will fight for the right to call themselves 'Ard Boys. So who will be the best this year? Are you pansies going to let a bunch of Warp-spawned filth take the title again or do you think you can wade through the Nob Bikers, Lash Princes, Thunderhammer Terminators and Carnifexes to claim victory?

The final three places from each FINALS location will qualify for the 2012 Throne of Skulls Grand Tournament.

I am not sure what they are going to fill that Bucket with...

Most likely "unfilled promises of prizes".. Since that statement of bucket of prizes has been around since year 1..

During year 1 they gave away tons of random prizes and promptly stopped doing that after year 1.. However, the tagline remains!

It's FFG center (certain of this) in minneapolis for the midwest, don't know about the westcoast

Fantasy Flight Games event center has the Finals up as an event on the 22nd. I'd say it's pretty locked down for the Midwest. Looks like Mik's got the Eastcoast so we'll see who gets the West Coast but I'll actually be attending the finals. No reason not to when it's only 20 minutes away

Sac-town on the west coast is probably the most viable place to hold a finals. Otherwise your kinda cheesing the folks from Washington, Oregon, upper Nevada, and Idaho into a really long drive or expensive/PITA airline flight down to LA.
The only other solution would be rotating it among major cities (LA, SF, Seatle) every year, and that would only end up hosing a different bunch each year over travel.

Still, you gotta wonder what the poor SOBs out in Hawaii do each year?

Actually, there's a rumor that Game Kastle in San Jose would be hosting (which is a less-painful flight).
