So Arkham City came out yesterday ... and there are still no reviews or first impressions posted on Dakka?

I only got to play for three or so hours yesterday but I really like it. In terms of gameplay, it seems exactly the same as Arkham Asylum -- which is great for me because I loved it. I'm slightly overwhelmed by the sandbox style (or at least sandbox appearance) of the game. Should I go straight to the next plot point or stop to rough up some goons? I guess that's the beauty of this sequel.

Catwoman was fun to play. She's incredibly fast. I look forward to the other Catwoman "episodes," although there only seem to be about five and if the first one is anything to go on they are very short set pieces.

I am playing on hard because I find it's only fun to be Batman if you are really up against it. That said, I find the game challenging even if it may not be "hard" from the perspective of some gamers. A couple of punches are all it takes to kill you at the beginning so you have to get good at mashing those hits and blocks on time.

I'm so excited to play through this game. So far it hasn't disappointed me even though I anticipated it so eagerly for such a long time. The only issue I have so far is the Penguin being a cockney with what appears to be a Coke bottle bottom jutting from his face in place of his monocle. Oswald Cobblepot ain't some cockney geezer like -- he's a proper Gotham gentleman.

It's not out here until the 21st

Really looking forward to it though, the first one was brilliant. It may have share space with Rage, although I think im nearly done with that, so I've got to ask the bank manager (the wife )

My friend played though it yesterday, and he said it's way better than the first stating that the "narrative was phenomenal". Running through the campaign, he said it was average (8-10 hours) and he had only 24% of the game completed...Playing as both Catwoman and Robin was a lot of fun.

And about the Riddler challenges
Spoiler:
Over 400!

I can't wait to play it this weekend

Started it last night, got about 3-4 hours in. I find it fantastic. This is one of the few games where I find the side quests actually fun and engaging.

Also catwoman is just awesome, the speed and moves she possess's make her better than bats IMO.

I liked AA so I might hack this one.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Sadly, it doesn't come out on PC until November 15th, so I'm eagerly waiting with my preorder until then. I'm hoping it is a lot like Arkham Asylum, because hey - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The combat of the first one was amazing.

That said, I have to ask: are the boss fights as disappointing as in Asylum? The only decent fight was, strangely enough, not even a fight (taking on Killer Croc in his lair).

I personally though the Joker fight was tough/aggravating. I had to try several times to beat him haha.

I'll put my own thoughts here.

As of now, I have 57% of the Main Story completed with 4 Side Missions fully at 100% completion(The Tea Party, Cold Call Killer, Shot in the Dark, and Remote Hideaway).

I have a total of 36% overall completion with that in mind.

I have to say...I think I'm going to be playing this for a long, long, long time. It's just...so nice.
I'm not usually one for open games, as I prefer some structure and rigidity--which the 'open' games usually do not give.

Arkham City does both--yet, does it so perfectly you barely notice that it is there.

Also worth noting is that some characters are better than others for certain Challenge maps.
Catwoman is good at the 'close quarters' maps, Batman is best at the Predator maps, and Robin is more at home on maps where you get a combination of ranged and close quarters enemies.

I wonder what niche Nightwing will fill.

He is supposed to be a more 'close-in' version of Catwoman.

She excels very much at the close quarters maps because the whip gives her stupidly good reach, and when properly upgraded--it is freaking devastating.

If I had to hazard a guess:
We'll see Nightwing doing amazing at the same style of maps which Robin has, but with the caveat that he does oh so so so much better when he has space for dodging.

Well, if you've played as Robin yet for the challenge maps--it's definitely feasible.

The Zip Kick immediately springs to mind.

I really like it so far. I am not too far into the game just yet. Some of these riddler challenges are tough!

Do they still have the Riddler Challenges where you have to find/make the question mark?

...I hated those :/

Played Arkham Asylum briefly at a neighbors and really enjoyed it. I was very much looking forward to this but pushing back the pc release date to 4 days after skyrim means it'll definitely have to wait. Not the best business move ever.

They do, but there's nowhere near as many of them.

Most of the Riddler Challenges are more of the "Which high-flying acrobatic family gambled and lost, flying solo?"(Yes: this actually is a riddle in the game. No, I won't tell you where the solution is!) riddle variety.

Awesome! I loved those riddles.

And I think I know the answer to that one...guess I need to get the game to find out for sure

Nightwing's DLC is released then.

Yeah, so far Nightwing and Robin are both slated for a November release.

Nightwing on November 1st, Robin on November 22nd or thereabouts.

The second one...it kinda irks me, because Robin(Tim Drake Robin mind you) is the only reason I preordered through Best Buy.

I also pre-ordered through Best Buy. The publisher releasing the DLC to everyone doesn't bother me. There's a story about this guy who hired some dudes in the morning and hired some other dudes in the evening. He paid all of these guys the same wage even though some worked more and those who worked more complained about it. The employer reminded them that they didn't actually suffer any harm since they got all that was promised to them and that no one should begrudge the employer his generosity. Kind of applies here.

If anything, making folks wait to November 22 is pretty harsh.

I'm more irked because of the fact that the preorder bonus was "Early Access" to Tim Drake's Robin, yet the GameStop and other vendor's "Early Access" DLC(and the Limited edition's "Iceberg Lounge") haven't been dated for release yet.

But on December 6th we are getting a Batman skin pack, so that'll be nice.
