I am considering doing a Diorama for Golden demon 2013.
So I've started compiling ideas's and here they are please vote on which one you think is best, and feel free to add your own suggestions

CSM terminator beheading Ultramarines Terminator in Background,
In fore ground A CSM Terminator has his storm shield pressed against a SS of a Ultramarine Terminator. The CSM Terminator is swinging a sword/axe over the ducking Terminator who has his sword going under his shield into the stomach of the terminator (1)

A CSM Diving onto an Ultramarine (2)

A Raptor and death company with jump pack both unarmed flying straight at each other. (3)

Necron Lord with Res orb which has been slammed into the ground ressurecting some 'crons, with eldar guardians firing on them. (4)

I vote number 10, but maybe add a group of nids comming at the guardsmen from the front and the lictor sneaking up on them.

The first suggestion is, I think, the most fully formed and would be quite dynamic, if you could pull off the posing convincingly, but that's a big "if." Personally, I'd keep it small and focused (interesting, but relatively small scenic base, without too many distracting elements). Duels are intense and battle scenes are impressive, but overwhelming - a pair of duels is neither, it's simply unfocused.

Slightly off topic, but (hopefully) useful, nonetheless, I'd recommend adding an actual poll to the thread, for ease of tallying responses (and for accumulating votes from those who wouldn't bother to write anything). If you edit the OP you should find a button for creating a poll beneath the text entry box (I'm sure there's a tutorial for that somewhere, if you can't figure it out).

Had trouble deciding between guardsmen on parade and the good vs evil. Went with parade because I've never seen the likes of it before, and the good vs evil is kind of odd because they all hate each other. However, if you did a free for all where an HQ from several races is supported by a small retinue of elite soldiers (Lord Commisar & Storm Troopers, Autarch & dire avengers, Hive Tyrant with 2 raveners, Warboss and nobs, Tau commander and 2 battle suits, Chapter master and 3 hvy weapon termies, etc. etc.) in a sort of octagon arena with a rune of khorne in the ground to announce the upcoming slaughter, I'd go with that.

That would be rather nice, except a little expensive

Well, here's an idea, have someone in a sentinel fending off a gaunt that managed to climb up to the cockpit. Never seen that done before. Never seen much of anything relating to a sentinel driver doing anything besides sitting there.

Edit - Or rather a sentinel getting swarmed by gaunts. Have a catachan pilot making a valiant last stand, perhaps killing two gaunts while being impaled by another.

This is absolutely brilliant! Not exactly GD fare, but as a personal display piece, I love it.

Guardsmen on parade would be nice as that would stand out compared to all the usual battle scenes.

Anything but a battle, something usually not shown upfront in codexes, etc.

Personally, I would edit the "Guard on Parade" idea slightly and go with that, Id base it off the old IG codex artwork, where there are a bunch of different regimental banners being held by their respective bearers, lining a huge staircase, while between them you have warmaster/lord general and a couple of staff walking up the stairs.

Thing is, something like that could be as detailed as you wanted it to be, or as subtle and understated...

My vote goes for the Guardsman on parade. Nothing swells your chest with pride quite like a parade formation!

If you go for IG on Parade, you need them in No1 Uniform or equivalent not in Flak Armour etc. Like the Guards outside Buckingham Palace, they don't fight in Afghanistan in that rig, they put on deserts and their body armour, not red tunics and bearskins. It might be harder to do, but Napoleonic 28mm would be a good start!
