With the recent release of Exterminatus (which I have been playing allot to pass the time till skyrim), Space Marine has become allot more interesting. I say this due to perks. Many perks where not very useful in multiplayer but have now found new meaning in Exterminatus. But as always I have been thinking about new perks and new content in general which would look good in a future update:

Weapons
New weapons (and their associated perks) would be a staple update for each of the classes.

Tactical:
Flamer, high damage at a close range but runs out of ammo VERY quickly, causes limited flame damage after a player has been hit . Associated perks: Blessed/Tainted Promethium, flamer does more health damage (also turns the fire colour blue). High Capacity Fuel Tanks, flamer can hold more ammo.

Assault:
Lightning Claws, Very Fast (faster than chainsword) damage somewhere between chainsword and power axe (unlocked at a high level). Associated perks: Rending, Lightning Claws ignore armour (unlocked after ALLOT of kills). Swipe, Lightning Claws have a slightly longer reach.

Devastator:
Missile Launcher, can be fired in either frag or krak mode. Frag, large area effect, low damage. Krak, single target, very high damage. Very limited ammo, very slow reload. Associated perks: Improved Recoil Dampeners, reduces Missile launcher spread and recoil. Blind Missile, adds a new blind missile. Acts exactly the same as a blind grenade but with a larger area effect and longer "blind" time.

Terminator Armour
I spent a good deal of time thinking how this would be incorporated and still be balanced. Each class would unlock its own terminator armour as a Perk after ALLOT of kills (you DO NOT unlock terminator armour for each class all at the same time). Terminator armour would essentially double the wearers armour but as a draw back makes them even slower than a devastator, in addition each class can only do the small "hop" like devastators do (sorry no backflipping Terminators today!).

Tactical Terminators come with the standard storm bolter and powerfist combo. Associated Perks: (Existing storm bolter perks) Crushing Blow, Power fist has a chance to temporarily stun opponents.

Assault Terminators have a choice between Lightning claws (effects as previously mentioned) or Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield. Storm shield add another half onto armour. Associated Perks: (previously mentioned lightning claw perks and existing TH perks) Shield Bash, Increased damage and chance to stun with shoulder charge when TH/SS equipped.

Devastator Terminators have a choice between Cyclone Missile Launcher and Assault/Reaper Cannon. Cyclone Missile Launcher acts like a normal missile launcher but with increased ammo capacity and reduced "reload" time. Assault Cannon/Reaper Cannon, ridiculously fast rate of fire with medium damage, runs out of ammo VERY quickly. Associated perks: (previously mentioned missile launcher perks) Recoil Compinsators, Assault/Reaper Cannon has reduced spread.

Other races and vehicles would have to be a far larger update and am currently not sure how this would be implemented. I am keen to hear your opinions on my ideas and your own suggestions.

I like alot of your ideas, and they would be alot of fun, but really, I dont ever see the Terminator armor becoming reality. It would be cool yes, but I just dont see that one ever happening. I DO hope, however, they come out with flamers, as every game that has a flame thrower, Ive LOVED that weapon

I agree with KC. Most of these ideas are really good, but I doubt Termis will happen. I was hoping that the Autocannon from the campaign would make it to the Multiplayer, but alas, it didn't

Hopefully these more weapons will make it to the sequel...whenever that happens

I would cream everywhere if Termies ever made it into Space Marine.

According to the Space Marine forum, one of the files in the game contains place-holder entries for five DLC content releases. We've only had two so far, the second of which is coming in December (Chaos). The rest surely cannot be armour packs alone, if there are more planned.

Damnit! I WANT TERMIE ARMOUR NOAW.

GAH! That autocannon! SUCH A TEASE! Why make such a badass weapon, allow it in the campaign, for all of 10 seconds, and then thats it? Such a jerk move

As follows:
Spoiler:
Just after you meet up with the Blood Ravens and Ultramarines forces that have come to aid you fight back chaos, so very late into the game, you have 2 weapon platforms. The first is a HB and then there's another that's the autocannon. You get it for about 10 minutes and then drop it.

Personally, flamer. Terminator armour will be almost unstoppable so Assault Marines will become gods with a t-hammer. But I really want a flamer - too many games lack any kind of flamethrower

I'd say a good compromise, rather than Terminator armour, would be to have a high-level perk for Artificer Armour increasing protection from damage significantly, but not as much as you're suggesting.. maybe +50% resistance.

Sadly, haven't actually played it yet, so I'm just guessing.

Ugh I hated that bit of the campaign it took me like ten tries to do that bit. I agree Terminator armour will likely never make it into the game, just a suggestion as to how it could be implemented.

I'd dig a Space Hulk themed coop mode with Terminators cleaning/purging the alien and unclean. Otherwise I can't see how it would work to put big slow players against faster ones.

I second the call for a flamer/heavy flamer as well!

Yeah forgot to mention heavy flamer for devastators/devastator terminators. Same range and perks as normal flamer but obviously more damage.

I'm at your window

Lightning claws for me woohoo lets just hope you get these new weapons

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out.

Through the looking glass

Chaplain upgrade for tacs that buffs nearby allies.

Missile launcher, flamer, more CC weapons (even reskins work)

Suppression upgrade for devs

Assaults auto use flash grenades when they land, has a cool down

Ultimates. If a team gains a huge point lead, chaos gates open and spew bloodletters, or space marines deep strike in. The spawns aren't overpowered and help the team get some points, and possibly steal a victory (Gate Closed! or Assault Repelled! Bonus)

If there was an SDK we could make our own campaigns which would be awesome. We could also make our own weapons. Pity there isn't one...

So basically your suggestion would be for lightning claws is "it's like chainswords, but better in every way!"

Feth balance, amirite?

Lightning claws should be faster, same damage, but drastically limited range.

Powerfist should be shortrange hammer with a tad more speed.

Yea at a very high level, late 30s or higher if they rase the level cap. This is why the thread has "suggestions" in the title. Care to explain how they could be implemented and still be balanced? (Balance is a difficult thing in any game with different classes. I remember playing a game comprised almost entirely of tactical players with only 1 or 2 assault/devastators, needless to say it played allot better.)

It really isnt that hard, so I'd like to see perks that change gameplay a bit

ex:

TACTICAL:
Perk: Ammo that increases max ammo a little and ammo per pickup dramatically to make various weapons viable

Perk: Mobility, increases dive distance, reduces speed penalty for things like reloading, venting plasma, ect. slight walk/run speed increase, Marine can now cancel out of stomps and close combat attacks with rolls ah la ninja gaiden

Perk Replaces Primary: Storm shield, Think riot shield, unlocks bolt/plasma pistol/ maybe others(?) as secondary, possibly includes secondary upgrade(?)

Assault:
Perk: Horizontal Dodges burns enemies the marine passes
Perk: sucessful secondary weapon hits/kills/something reduce shield regen time remaining

Lol Perk: SPEEHS MAHREEN: instant victory (plot armour), only exception is Indrick Boreale who always loses due to his STHEEL REHN not working.

Im not sure chapter specific weapons would work, but certainly a customiser to make your weapons look attached to the chapter your following (eg make your power axe look like a frost axe).

Actually that'd be a damn fine DLC-type add-on.. maybe not a DLC per-se, but an update or perhaps an idea for a second game.. unique chapters with their own unique wargear to choose from but they lose access to some of the normal weapons.. same for Chaos, depending on legion.. e.g. Inferno Bolts for TS or Frost Blades for SW, with Black Legion and Ultramarines being the 'standard' with access to all standard wargear but nothing unique.

Frost Axes work differently than Power Axes. Also, Space Wolves act differently than Normal Marines.

A melta gun in space marine dosent work like a melta gun "should". Having chapter specific marines would make the game too complex and would be unfair on those who have made unique chapters.

No. It would not be unfair and complex, all it would mean that THQ would have to spend time balancing the game a little. The lack of Bikes for my White Scars and Frost Axes for Space Wolf is the sole reason I will not participate in Multiplayer. I want to be a Space Wolf not a Vanilla Marine posing as one. Space Wolves use different strategies and tatics than a Normal Marine and you expect them to use the same equipment, in my opinion comparing Space Wolves and Vanilla Marine is like comapring a Wolf to a Hyenna.
