So, OT-dakkakites, what is your favorite band and then your top 5 songs from that band?

I'll start us off. Call me a wannabe-punk if you will, but my favorite is Green Day.

1. Jesus of Suburbia

This song is great to sing along to, and I like the set up of 5 2-minute "acts".

2. Paper Lanterns

Yes, it's 22 years old. No, I don't care

3. Welcome to Paradise

So much energy in this song, and as a bass player it's almost impossible not to love it

4. Brain Stew/Jaded

Goes from one of their slowest songs to their fastest, all in the same track. Brain Stew is has a really catchy guitar riff as well as the "on my own, here we go" chorus. I like to listen to Jaded will running as it gives a good pace.

5. Stuck With Me

Nothing special about this song, just like it a lot for some reason.

So dakka, what's your favorite bands and their top songs IYO?

My list would've looked much different then, but sure, that's fine if you want.

edit: I could also start a seperate thread for that if you want?

I'd like to congratulate the OP on talking about music and mentioning a band that people have actually heard of.
I will continue that trend by saying NOFX and

I'm not mega "into" music, I don't have a favourite band or genre, it depends on what Im doing at the time. I listen to fast paced rocky/pop stuff when im working out, or gak like Elton John when Im tidying the house. I've started listening to audio books more often when I paint...

I like greenday and NOFX though.

Somewhat embarrassingly for a 32 year old man, I still have this album on my mp3 player... and I had it on a mini-disc in 2001! It always get me up the big hills.

My favourite band is the Beatles, but I'm not posting any clips of my favourite songs by them, as frankly, any self-respecting music fan should be aware of them:

- Strawberry Fields Forever
- Norwegian Wood
- Happiness is a Warm Gun
- Tomorrow Never Knows
- Taxman

My top band of all time? Can I have two? In that case it's Led Zepplin and Therapy?, they are both brilliant but as im using my iPhone for this and I havnt figured out how too link YouTube videos with it yet, y'all can have two top five song lists.

Don't say I don't give you anything!

Led Zepplin.
1: Misty Mountain Hop
2: Nobodys Fault But Mine
3: Hangman
4: Black Dog
5: Rock N Roll

And Therapy?
1: Diane (Husker Du cover)
2: Perversonality
3: Teeth Grinder
4: Nowhere
5: Knives

And please check out Therapy? they are awesome...

Well since its a top 5 from 1 band, that actually makes it easier IMO. Because there is only a handfull of bands Ill listen to the entire CD front to back many times over. So Ill go with

Minus the Bear
#1 White Mystery
Spoiler:

#2 Women we havnt met yet
Spoiler:

After this the order doesnt really matter, because the first 2 songs are just the best IMO, after them, its a crapshoot for the order really
#3 Pachuca Sunrise
Spoiler:

#4 Ice Monster
Spoiler:

#5 Knights
Spoiler:

But really, I could put all their CDs on this list, they are just fantastic. That is if your either into non hardcore/heavy metal or have an expanded interest in music and not just 1 or 2 genres

Also like Crooked Still.

And Emily Smith:

Ayreon. Only band I listen to that I've bought every CD and memorized damn near every lyric from every song.

1. The Sixth Extinction

2. Unnatural Selection

3. Age of Shadows (incl. We Are Forever)

4. The Truth is in Here

5. Day 16: Loser

The title of that last one isn't just randomly called Day 16 - the entire album is like that (Day 1, Day 2, etc.) as it follows a 20-day journey through a man's psyche.

My Armies:
Kal'reia Sept Tau - Farsight Sympathizers
Da Great Looted Waaagh!

I don't really have a favorite band, rather several. But to try to stick with one I'll go with Megurine Luka since as it's more of an instrument it encompasses a few artists and sort of still counts as one artist.

This however is one of my favorite songs at the moment.

Uhm, I think some of you lot are missing what this thread is meant for. Your fav band + 5 songs FROM THAT BAND. Not 5 random favorites. So to me, that doesnt have to be the absolute fav band of yours, but rather, a band you really really like, that you can pull 5 favs from. Like I posted Minus the Bear, I wouldnt say they are my absolute fav band, but it is pretty damn easy to think up 5 songs from them that I love listening to.
