I have made my first sisters list, here goes

HQ:
Canoness w/Inferno pistol, combi-plasma and melta bombs
95p

Troops:
Battle sister squad w/flamer and melta and melta bombsx2
135 x2

Fast:
Dominion squad w/2meltas and a combimelta
In Rhino
135p

Total:500p

This list would see use in Planetstrike and Cities of Death against Tau and the occasional orks and SM.

Three notes, I am not into special characters or transports (not supposed to be competitive) and i like the engines.


Thoughts on addons are, dominions in immolator (seems awesome) and Exorcists.

The list is fine for non competitive play.

A few tweaking suggestions:

-The rosarius is nearly useless. Assuming you will run the Canoness attached to a sister squad, the only thing it will be good for is power weapon wound. If you get shot by a Krak Missile or Plasma Cannon, you're better off taking off a standard sister than taking a 50% chance of losing your canoness to instant death as most weapon that would ignore her armor are double her toughness on average.

-Penitent engines are beautiful, but they will never get close to tactical marines with missile launchers and an orc mob with a nob will crush it with their klaw. Open top, armor 11 and Rage means he will be a massive and easy target in a low point game and he's likely be to be dead by 3rd turn if not earlier. Engines start to shine when you can saturate the field with more important targets (scouting dominions, exorcists) and can get them behind a rhino wall to get them a 4+ cover save as they walk up.

Remove the engine and your rosarius and you can field a 5 man squad of dominions with 2 melta and a combi melta on the sergeant and you will have enough points to put melta bombs on your two sister squads. If youre fighting orcs, switch those meltas for flamers and you have left over points to get some combis on your sister superiors as well.

So perhaps something like this?

HQ:
Canoness w/Power sword and melta bombs
80p

Troops:
Battle sister squad w/Heavy flamer, melta gun and melta bombs* x2
160p x2

Fast:
Dominion squad w/2Meltas and a combi-melta*
100p

500p square.

*sister superior equipment

Additions for 750:

Immolator w/ tl-mm for dominions
80p

Another dominion squad with immolator (will drop melta bombs on BSS for this)

750 square

If you can find the points for Celestine, she is insane at low points levels.

Even if I could, I wouldn't. I don't want to play named characters, I find it less fun to play with a commander who already have a back story

But that's the great thing about 40k, named characters aren't exclusive to that background. You are free to make whatever background you want for them. This is even openly recommended in several codexes. (P127, C:SM is a good example.)

I get where you're coming from, but St C and Uriah Jacobus are so much better than the unnamed versions it is crazy.

I will concider her someday but this list is manly for fun and to play with a friend^^

Btw, It seems that Dominions get alot of love. Did you guys know that in planetstrike, as the attacker your chart looks like this: comp, 1hq, free, 2hq, 6elites, 6fast, 6troop, 3heavy.
For defenders it's this: comp, 1hq and 2troops, free, 3elites and fasts, 6heavy, 4troops.

And oh, everything but vehicles can deepstrike and those with the DS rule get to assault when they come in^^ (you roll 3+for reserves turn one)

This means you could run a attackers list with celestine and six squads of Dominions

What do you guys think about this setup for a canones?

I know what you mean with Celestine, Originally I wouldn't want to take her but thanks to the new codex, she does nearly everything my original canoness W/jump pack did, but better and for less points.
And of course, she doesn't have to be "celestine" in your fluff.
But in all honesty I don't ever really want those fancy named characters either.

The sisters have rapid fire weapons, which means they have a distinct defensive advantage. Orks can foot-slog because they have both numbers AND assault weapons, that're just as useful at range as they are up close.
but your sisters bolters lose their range by moving, and if you move to within 12" range of your bolters, your sisters will die in CC if not earlier at least next turn.

It's a sad fact about the sisters, they have a very hard time as a turtle army, because they don't have the range to force their enemies into their firing lines, nor do the have the strength or weapons when they march up on their own.
That's the problem with middle ground. you only get an enemy there once per game, if you're lucky. Usually it's 2-3 turns of long, 1 medium, and suddenly CC.

Plus, the sisters have really expensive short range point holders. Marines can hold a point with 80 points, and fire a missile launcher every turn at the targets on the other side of the board.
Your girls will waste 160 points standing still on your objective waiting for something to come within 24" range, and if anything does it's designed to survive getting there.

I think I'm just critiquing the sisters again now. hehe.

Do make sure you make use of your canoness's BS, not WS. The sisters don't often win CC, they just lose slower than most armies, which oddly enough is terrible because that means the other units can't shoot.

If you do decide to take your penitent engine, and no other transports, it'll probably be your biggest bullet magnet. So make sure it's in cover first turn if you can. Waste as much fire as possible because it's still likely gonna die before it kills anything, the trick is how long that takes.

Lastly, consider instead of a heavy flamer on the sisters squads, especially foot sloggers, getting a normal flamer and a combi-flamer on the superior. More hits instead of slightly stronger ones especially since you usually only get to use a flamer once, if at all, with any one squad before CC starts and in most cases the AP doesn't make a difference, but more saves to be made does. Actually, I hadn't though of that before, I might need to swap my list for that too. hehe.

But I've only played with the WD sisters once so far, and that was months ago, so I wouldn't put 100% faith in whatever I say. ^_^

Edit the new list into the first post so we can see where you stand.

If you eat a few melta bombs, you can afford a rhino to go with the dominion, so they can get a potential second turn of effectiveness, firing melta out of fire points first turn, and the whole squad once the rhino gets popped.
Or just getting a 12" move instead of 6" when you arrive by cruising speeding the rhino and then hopping out.
Avoiding the transport, a simulacrum on the dominion will make dang sure they get TL for that vital melta wave doesn't blow it's turn with poor rolls, though it's not the best idea.
Or you could be silly and give the domimion superior or your canoness two combi-weapons (one to replace the bolter, the other for the bolt pistol)

Not really sure though.

I agree. Drop 3 Melta Bombs and 2 combi flamers (from BSS) to get a rhino for the Dominions. Other than that, it is 500 points.

What is that Rhino's price tag? (in points)

Basic, unless you are transporting a Battle Conclave. 35 points is a good place to stay. Battle Conclaves get a Dozer Blade though, in my opinion.

Oh and upgrade the Dominions to an Immo (TL-MM) as you go up in points. Very worth it.

I already figured i would get a Immo My current shopping list is: 8battle sister blisters, 2flamer sisters, 2Rhinos and a Immo so far. Then I will look at exorcists

Unless you're rolling in dough, I would suggest the used market for those. If you are rolling in dough, my fee is $500US an hour for list advice.

No I am not rolling in dough ;p The list is about 2000sek (swedish kronor) not counting the excorcists wich is about 300USD. I am but a humble farmshand (family buisuiness) and this will be bought over a series of months. I might be able to get a summer job wich gave some people i know 30 000sek over the course of two weeks, that is about four and a half thousand dollars. I get 500Sek a month for allowance as well

Any suggestions on expanding? Thinking from where I stand now to progressivly work my way up to 2k (local tourney size)

Redid the calculation, with 2Rhinos for the BSS's it is 2000sek

Right now, tourney lists look like:

0-1 Celestine
1-2 Battle Conclave with Uriah then Kyrinov
3 BSS in Rhinos
3 Dominions in Rhinos/Immos
3 Exorcists
Some elites / upgrades to fill out the rest.

Working towards that can't hurt.
