So a little while ago I was discussing with someone the savings they could make by joining the Old glory army, and ordering their Command Decision. The you get 40% off of everything on their website for $50 a year. I was told that their quality is terrible, and that I will never make my money back. In a few months my family and I have saved more money through the membership than the payment itself.

Here is the evidence.

The quality of the miniatures is very nice as well! I advise everyone to look into them.

I have been very happy with my Old Glory Command Decision Tanks. And I have to admit the army savings is considerable.

Interesting. One could easily join as a club or some such $50 is just over £30.

Old Glory/Skytrex's Command Decision sculpts are very good. The only downside is the weight of all metal armies.

Exactly! You can make the money back in no time. When it comes to the weight of the army, I can't really complain, the molds (ecspecialyl pewter) hold the paint really well, and I haven't even needed to consider magnetizing anything.

I have been look at Command Decision ever since I was bitten by the Cossak bug.

$30 for four battlefront stands just isn't going to happen.

And wait a very long time for your stuff to show up. Thier stock in house is very low and it takes forever for them to get restocked. Ordered some GHQ blisters frome them. Took over to a month before I got them. I emailed them after 3 weeks and the response was, I sum up not quote, " we dont stock everything and it takes time for the manufature to cast the orders and send them to us". Which was BS because everytime I ordered from GHQ direct I got the stuff in less than a week.

I would seriously suggest weighing wether or not you want to wait and wait to save money. Especially when you can do it immediatly.

Despite my young age, I'm pretty patient... I can/will wait if it means keeping more of my hard-earned money in my pocket. I mean granted if I was making more money it wouldnt be an issue, but if I were to shell out for the membership right now, i would only have about 90 USD to spend on minis...

Those do seem like good prices, and I had originally looked at Old Glory when starting Italians, but decided to buy most of my army from battlefront because Old Glory had no pictures.

I would rather spend a little more money (I didn't know about the Old Glory army at the time, and it wouldn't have saved me all that much since I still needed all my infantry from BF) to know what I am getting.

I see where you could have an issue with there being no pictures (and I agree there should be some to show what you're getting). However I haven't had an issue with their stuff yet. I've ordered Americans, Russians, Germans, and British and all of the casts were amazing, and exactly what I wanted. I'd give them a shot anyway, they are great for what you want and you're getting three tanks for the price of one from battlfront. The only thing that Battle front offers with their tanks is Tank commanders, however, you can buy a pack of 50 from Old glory for $9.00 (with discount) and never have to buy Tank commanders again haha.

I understand but all my orders have been to me in 10 days or less from Old Glory so far. I am curious to know which website you ordered from because they asked me to order from,

Perhaps it was the other site you used, I am guessing that somehow the sites are separate.

Overall it seems somewhat unanimous that Old Glory stuff is reasonably priced for being comparable to Battlefront stuff. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Alright, I'll do just that. Once I go to the "Hobby-place" tomorrow I'll post pictures accordingly of three different armies.

Yes I was talking about Warweb, sorry for the comnfusion. I have used both Battlefronts and Old Glory for Germans over the years. Prefer the Old Glory ones. They are a more realisticly posed, and nowhere as "chunky" as the FOW ones. There is nothing wrong with Battlefronts mind you, just like the Old Glory ones more. They do mix fairly well, as long as there is more Battlefront minis.

Because on TMP, there are several threads about credit cards being hacked from warweb after people have ordered (and mine was as well, so its not just second hand). That, plus the long wait, makes it worth it to go to OG itself, plus they have so many other great lines, including Blue Moon (15mm acw and napoleonics, if thats your thing).

Thanks for posting that link, they have pictures of the Italians on the site.

Though most of their range looks fine, the italian M13/40 tanks (which is what I was thinking about getting from them) seem to be lacking in detail:

The rivets and turret especially stand out to me, as the rivets are huge and the turret lacks any of the tank's realistic details:

Seeing as I would only be ordering these, I would not be joining their group for $50 as my army is already mostly complete, so it would not be saving me a massive amount buying from them (about $3 from Skytrex), so I think I will go with BF.

I have some of these. I used OG's Command Decision 105s, Battlefront crew, Zvesda OP tanks and made my own bases from plasticard. I saved myself a packet in the process.

That doesn't look like Command Decision, in fact to be honest I didn'[t see any Skytex miniatures on their website that were the CD.

I'd say for a later army (if interested) To go through CD, they are great XD

They may be an older lower quality model (Italian ranges are usually non-existant or neglected by most companies), but they are Command Decisions, they are under the CD category on Skytrex if you look at the link.

Edit: I will consider them for the LW Russian Army I may start soon, the Italian tanks they make are just bad, either old or they just got lazy with the rivets.

Yes I see that now, and the point that you made is exactly what I think happened with the Italian's, not many people wish to play them, so their quality isn't as good, where if you see the Russians and the Germans I posted earlier, the quality is obviously shown.

Skytrex is the company that produces all the masters for CD; Old Glory simply produces them under license for the North American market.

The issue of older bad molds/casts is purely Old Glory's, as they will use a mold well past its useful life to cut down on the cost of buying another master from Skytrex.

What I was talking about was the sculpt being bad, (likely because it was designed long ago) as the pictures I had were from Skytrex. Old Glory dosen't even have pictures for the Italians.

I haven't had an issue with the Old Glory sculpts at all, and I mind you from my original post, my family and I have spent a few hundred dollars on their items, and not a single infantry, AT gun, Artillery, or tank has come to me misshapen or bad.

I really like the grenadier infantry. Any chance you have some pics of their soviet infantry? Also, from a "3 feet from the tabletop" view, how well do they blend in with BF's infantry?

They blend in surprisingly well, the quality between the Battle Front and the Old Glory miniatures really isn't that much different when it comes to detail, I think the only thing that might give the Battle front away is not a thing of detail, but rather that Battle front tends to make their infantry more bulky, with larger hands and heads (heroic if you will).

When I head over to the hobby area again I'll get pictures of the Soviet's for you.
