I got an email today that I could play 'TERA one week for free!'
So, after a bit of searchin, I found out what the game is.
It's an Korean MMO, and well, what do you think about it?

Have to say, especially for an MMO, the graphhics are rather good, and heard thje combat is nice too.






Would it be weird if I would be embaressed while playing this?
And opinions on the whole game?

it really just looks like an bit updated version of Lineage 2, Lineage 2 had skimpier clothing too with Dark Elf females wearing G-strings and thongs as armor.

Well, it looks like a gakky MMO. Do you like playing gakky MMOs?

I found Tera to be a bit refreshing as an MMO. Granted it still has the same old quest system which gets old fast. The combat is different enough for me to enjoy it.

Paying W/e price it was per month was the deal breaker for me. I mean why pay a monthly fee when some F2P games are good if not better. A decent example of this would be Raiderz, same type of combat system and quest system but F2P.

It is a Loli simulator.

It will either crash and burn within the year, or go F2P.

Just as a warning, the guys who make TERA are former ArenaNet employees, and are currently being sued by their former employer for stealing company assets and secrets from GW2 to make the game. Right now the case is in the air, but should they lose its quite possible that TERA will be shut down as a result.

Just a warning for everyone before shelling out any bucks. The case probably won't resolve till 2015.

Not to mention that the game itself isn't particularly good. The combat mechanics are solid, but everything else is an absolute bore. I played the demo for a day before I got utterly sick of it.

It's your standard Korean grindfest. The only real difference is that you have to click a little more often, and be a little more weary about your positioning.

It also doesn't help that the game is tanking hard, both in its native country and in America. It's already F2P in Korea, and will likely go F2P here by the end of the year.

If you absolutely must play an online RPG, either wait for GW2 to be released.
If a more action-oriented online RPG is to your tastes, jump on to the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online 2 (you can very easily patch it so the menus are in english). F2P game with fantastic combat, with Hunters (the melee class) playing like something out of Devil May Cry. Solid game that will keep you busy, although it does get really bogged down at level 20, as there's very little to do between levels 20-30 (supposed to pick up a lot once you hit 30 though).

Heh, just posted to see what people thought bout it. IIRC you can pay in game gold to continue your subscription or so?

No idea lol. I just wanted to let people know that there's legal trouble for the game in the US (even though my post actually reports the specifics incorrectly, oops).

To be fair, so do norn in Guild Wars 2.

It's one of my complaints about Norn cultural armor-- it sucks for females.

In all fairness, Norn in general suck.

So seems Tera has a few issues atm. I decided to see if there was a trial of some sort to retry it since it was back in Beta I played it.

Having recently formatted my Pc I needed to get a code in similar fashion to Steams security code. That was 3 hours ago so I'm still waiting....

Unless my email address is wrong, but surely it would say that and not just let me log in to the activation screen.

Actually the game (and GW2) are Korean if anything

GW2 is developed by an American studio. NCsoft, a Korean company, owns Arenanet, but the game itself is American.

I don't think they own Arenanet, they are simply the publishers of the game.

Nope, NCsoft definitely owns Anet.

Because I figure that most Norn racial armour would show a fair bit of skin for both sexes, what with that whole "proud barbarian culture" thing they got going on. Of course, there's a fine line between tasteful and pandering.
