Like the title asks, is it possible to earn the favor of more then one chaos god? I know Abaddon the Despoiler is special being the favored child of all four gods and successor to Horus, but is it at all possible to receive blessings from let's say Nurgle and Khorne at the same time? How about Slannesh and Khorne, two gods opposed to each other? Thank you in advance for your time.

Genghis Khan is a perfect example: He slaughtered an untold amount of people, created a massive empire (requires brains to hold together), impregnated just about every woman he could, and sort of indirectly helped bring the Bubonic Plague over to Europe.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Chaos Undivided: all the 'gods' of Chaos are mere aspects of the single, all-powerful force mortals know as Chaos. So, yes. One can receive the favor of multiple deities.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

I'd say an undivided follower could probably bounce between gods on occasion. The big risk would be chancing the wrath of the rejected god, or accumulating a few too many gifts and ending up mindless spawn - but that's always a risk with Chaos stuff.

I don't think they have to worry about that, seeing as they worship and accept all 'gods' equally as aspects of Chaos Undivided.

Oh I don't disagree with you there, I figured he meant the follower dedicates to one god, then changes after some time. I guess things would get complicated with marks and such. Interesting question.

Followers of Chaos Undivided have a mark of their own as well, remember? If they dedicate themselves to one deity, they aren't really followers of Chaos Undivided.

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."

I beg to differ. It shouldn't be like that. Chaos Powers don't fall in line as nicely as the 5th edition Codex would imply - they fight amongst each other at least as much as against external enemies.
At least that's the way it used to be.
If one has a favour/minor mark from Nurgle, for instance, Tzeentch is not likely to bestow one of his favours as well - the two hate each other at least as much as either hates the Imperium.
Similar enmities exist between Slaanesh and Khorne, and between Khorne and Tzeentch.
While those who follow Undivided might worship all four gods equally as members of the same pantheon, that doesn't mean the gods care or will grant them any favours.
In fact, it's more than likely that any Chaos follower believes in all four, but does have one god selected as his patron and has simply not progressed along his chosen god's path far enough to have been bestowed any favours.
Another option is that an Undivided Marine is simply an egotistical, opportunistic bastard who plays all four against the middle. These people, however, tends to be destined for either spawndom (most likely) or daemonprince-hood in very short order.
That's one of the reasons Abaddon is so badass - he's only one who's been able to acquire favours from all four.

Well let's differentiate favor and marks. A mark dedicates that soul to the god. But favor can be earne from all 4, but only 1 will give the mark.
As for your tzeentch nurgle rivalry. I certainly don't see a problem with them fighting for the souls devotion by gifting them 'blessings'. Its not like Nurgle sees tzeentch has given him the blessings of a moustache of feathers and says 'fair dos, you were here first' and backs off. In fact I'd see him as more likely to gift him blessings in order to fight for their devotion over your rival.

This ain't modern business.
What's most likely is that Nurgle (or a Nurgle follower) will see Tzeentch's favour and kill his rival god's follower.
Well, Nurgle probably has better things to do than go around killing random Tzeentch followers, but his followers would do the actual slaying. And vice versa.

Good post.
The idea of them fighting amongst one-another and the great-game, does remind me of Skarbrand.

I agree with this very much!
Rivalry between the gods is seen quite plainly in the new HH book: Fear to Tread, but I won't spoil it any further than that.

Well no one can be 100% sure unless GW says so, but it is a speculation that isn't far-fetched.
Sorta like Blood Ravens being Loyalist TS, Minotaurs Loyalist WE, Red Scorpions being Loyalist EC, etc. until GW says anything that clarifies the matter, all we can do is speculate and make educated guesses.

With Chaos Undivided and requiring the favour of a single God or multiple Gods for that matter, it's about paying your due to the ones you don't necessarily need at that time.
Say, you wanted Khorne and Tzeentchs blessing for a campaign, you would of course have to do your usual blood and magic rites to be awarded with blessings, taking skulls, exploding a librarian, that sort of thing. But so that you didn't anger the other two, who might not take kindly to the favoritism you are showing and throw a spanner in to the works, you would also have to appease them with offerings and the such. A new velvet jacket for Slaanesh and pouring a bottle of Cough Syrup down the drain for Nurgle.
You have to show as much dedication all the time to all four otherwise you'll get one or three angry gods which might bless you with a bit of spawndom from each.
Daemonworld buy Ben Counter goes into this a bit.

That was good. Especially how Karnulon aka Arguleon Veq turned against Chaos because he got angry Chaos twisted him from a hero into a monster and never gave him anything that was worth what he lost. I don't believe that Veq was Karnulon, more that likely he killed hm and stole his ship.
There's not much the Chaos Gods can do against someone as powerful as Veq, that's why they keep their followers on a tighter leash now. Veq's a bit of a hero.

That was good. Especially how Karnulon aka Arguleon Veq turned against Chaos because he got angry Chaos twisted him from a hero into a monster and never gave him anything that was worth what he lost. And even after betraying the Powers and destroying one of their prized Daemon Worlds, they spared his life as punishment.
I don't believe that Veq was Karnulon, more that likely he killed hm and stole his ship.
No, he's Karnulon. Veq rested in the jungle for a while by shutting down half his brain - something only an Astartes could do. And he was quick to empathize with that last Word Bearer - and rarely for a follower of Chaos (albeit a former one), he was telling the truth the whole time.
There's not much the Chaos Gods can do against someone as powerful as Veq, that's why they keep their followers on a tighter leash now. Veq's a bit of a hero.
Hell yeah. Blowing up a Daemon World and getting one's life spared as 'punishment' indicates he really did piss them off.

Veq was a follower of Chaos a long, long time, longer than any Word Bearer and if it's true, he created the Maelstrom, were there even Word Bearers around before the Maelstrom, no.
A talented psyker, like what Veq is could do much the same thing as an Astartes.

We'll disagree in this punishment notion, I think if they would or could punish him they would turn him in to a mindless spawn.

Hence I think he might be a demi-Astartes like Kor Phaeron. And I don't think he was a psyker, just a really powerful sorcerer. One does not need to be a psyker to use sorcery.

Lesser Daemon of Chaos
|
As fot the Undivided thing, I think people are getting wires crossed because of slight disparities between fluff and rules. In the fluff their are actually levels of what undivided means. The Word Bearers (and to a lesser extent, The Red Corsairs) worship Chaos as a Pantheon, as in all gods are an aspect of one power. The Word Bearers actually look down on single god dedication because they see it as weakness, that all gods must be sated to truly walk the path. Powers arent granted from specific gods, they just generally increase their powers with blessings from the Pantheon.
The Black Legion are truly lost, it is noted in Soul Hunter by the Nightlords that no other legion has whored itself away worse than Abbadon's legion. They regularly switch allegiances between gods for short term gain but they play a deadly game because they risk pissing off individual gods and risk losing their support in the future by being so fickle.
Finally you have legions like the Iron Warriors who are not alligned to a single god and in fact dont really worship Chaos at all, more they see it as energy to be harnessed. So they will use warp energy to build machines and improve weapons, damning themselves in the process but never intentionally worshipping anything.

We'll just have to disagree on something yet again.

Allow me to clarify..,Karnulon aka Veq, entered the Word Bearers to become a demi-Astartes and assist in the planned fall of the Word Bearers.
One thing we can agree on, is that Veq is pure BADASS. And that if he was in command of the Black Crusades instead of Abaddon, Cadia would have fallen long ago.

Why would he want or need to do that? Even the Captain of the Word Bearer band reflects that it's likely that Karnulon was dead and that Veq had stolen his ship. Making Veq just another Astartes wannabee cheapens his awesomeness. He was a mortal follower of Chaos that beat them at their own game, no Chaos Space Marine is that good.

Maybe the other 12 Black Crusades haven't been about Cadia.
