So I'm headed to a tourney in a month or so and I'm wanting to run the Green Tide. I'm very against brining any fewer boyz other then the max 180, so I'm def not changing that. However, I would love to hear some input on making this list as tough as it can possibly be.

After some thought I decided I still wanted to run the pure green tide and skip out on the wapheads... Mainly due to not owning the models and having to buy another dakka jet and get it painted up before the tourney. Let me know what you guys think of this list... It feels much more solid and very balanced in my opinion, thanks

Don't use stormboyz,
Possibly 2x9 lootas or a warboss+weirdboy though
Lootas kill lots with guns-always useful
Warboss munches stuff,
And weirdboyz have very useful green tide boosting powers
I would personly take the two characters

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive. Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

It's a 1999 +1 tourney... I can't use another Warboss. The lootas are a thought though. What do you think about a third dakka jet? I could also do a defense line with a quad gun and some grot artillery. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, a thought would be to run 15 kommandos with 2 burnas. I know they can't assault anymore, but they may be a nice distraction, and being able to come in anywhere and have to deal with 15 boyz and snikrot isn't something you ignore. Automatically Appended Next Post: Any other suggestions?  . How well do you think this army would fair in a tourney setting? I've been playing the tide for a while now, so no issues with my turns taking to long. What do you think would give me the most problems?

I don't play Orks so I can't really help you with what to add to this list, but I've always feared someone running this many sluggas. 180 models. Ugh. I run a Nidzilla list with 7 MCs (10 including pods) and with 60 TL S6 shots from Devourers, I still don't think I'd have enough shots to stop this. I might have to swap Telepathy on my Zoans to get Psychic Shriek for some more AOE damage.
Good luck with the Tournament, I'm going to a FLGS one myself on Feb 9th. I hope this bump helps you get some answers. Hope you let us know how it goes!

Is it a WYSIWYG ? if not use your sluggas as all shoota boyz,
but being a tournament i can see the time limmit and to move all the models might not get you in time :/ and with this many boyz i would rather only have one big mek, you got tons of meatshields exchange him with a weirdboy and one more dakkajet enjoy the free waaghs  if not that, the defence line with kannon crew is allways good, letting them grots man that quad gun :3 and lootas behind the rest of the defence line.
but with this many boyz, i can see your enemey player is gonna struggle to have enough fire power to take these guys out,

It is wysiwyg, however I would still run the sluggas. I've found them to be better for me in most games. I do like taking at least one squad of shootas, and in this instance two squads just for objective camping and support behind my slugga mobs.
I was thinking about dropping the KFF, but I do want to make sure I have enough coverage. I'll have to look into the weird boy, and yeah another dakka jet doesn't sound like a bad idea... Especially if I have the weird boy for the additional waaaggghhsss.
I know I posted about the kommandos earlier, but do you think that's a bad idea? I was looking for some way to shake up my opponent mentally and it seems they may do the trick. By the time they come in with snikrot, my boyz would be pretty close to their lines, so I could see that throwing off target priority. Just a thought.
I appreciate the comments. More are welcome

Well a fun way to shake up your enemy is if he got a mech list.. and suddenly you outflank with 5 koptas with TL rokkits,
 but that means one less dakkajet :/
And yerr, Kommandos these days... i'd say they should only be taken with burnas and have them as a troop choise killer for those who hold objectives in the back.
sad thing that about the orks... unless GW makes snikrots special rule so he can charge the same turn from reserve, like boss zagstruk  he can charge when he deepstrike with his stormboyz.

I do have the models for storm boyz.... That was my other option. I could run a solid 15 with zagstruk and at the list have 12 on the assault with the d3 casualties.
I may just rock the dakka jet with the weird boy. I'll have to see. Ie never run a weird boy so it's totally new... What squad would he be attached to? Shoota mob?

I'd take the wierdboy with any of those groups, as when he's in CC, he could give himself powerattacks on 2 and 3, and a 4 the whole unit gains one more attack each  And as for the stormboyz, can work can miss, you gotta be lucky when using them mishap isnt fun :/ but remb you might get some few stormboyz saved on that D3 cassuality, you are allowed to toss your save for them. and yerr, auto hit str 6 ap 3 small template.. and that auto hit melta shot, good fun

Yeah I think I'm going to give the weird boy a go. I was checking out his abilities and damn he's not bad. I have the points to upgrade him to a warp head so I think I'm going to do that... Toss him with a shoota boy mob probably. I'll then add in a dakka jet and hope for 6s for that extra waaaggghhhhh. That will be pretty brutal having three dakka jets on the waaaggghhhhh. I like it

Wierdboy and Dakkajets? Why not maximize those WAAAGHS!?!? 2 Warpheads will average on 2 dice each a turn 4 6s, along with the other one you can use that is 5 Waaaghs, you figure 2 might be in the same turn so discount them but still 3 in a game with 3 jets is just awesome.

i like diz list propa amount of DAKKA yu'd be prepared for most armies with that list, and very few field armor 14 these days, unless yer a ig playah, but that's not all around tough like the LR

I dig the hell out of that list. My only question or thought is this... Will those 30 lootas do me more good then an extra 60 shoota boyz who are incredibly versatile in ways of scoring, rushing, assaulting, and providing support for the sluggas. I do see where the lootas would be amazing for popping those transports or dishing out the pain, but my previous games I have just been assaulting vehicles to death. Anything the loota can take out typically has 10 armor in the rear... My boyz make quick work of those situations.
I would however love to run 2 warheads... That's an awesome idea, but would my boyz really suffer without the 5+ save? I know 5s aren't that great, but it does save a ton of boyz.
My hopes with having so many boyz is that I would be able to deal with almost anything due to sheer numbers... Even in late games, I feel the staying power is pretty great.
Or, should I go with the list above? Thoughts? Thanks guys

Just do what we did in 5th with AV14 and ignore it. Also 2 warpheads you are bound to roll up a Zzap which makes short work of AV14 with it's S10 and melta rule at 36 inches so effective melta of 18 which is damn good, also auto hits. If you really wanted to swap those BS with rokkits and maybe trim a loota in each unit for it and a few gretchin, Rokkits miss a lot but 12 are bound to score some hits, also PKs while needing some high rolls to pen are present. If you end up playing a true 2k and not a 1999+1 you could add a warboss with PK or SAG to help with the AV14 or 4 warpheads

This is an interesting question. Since zzap is a shooting attack that auto his, can I hit flyers with it? That would be absolutely amazing and would lead me to running 2 warp heads literally all the time.

That I do not know, just getting into 6th myself. As for the lootas in your previous post they are effective, they will be shooting turn 1, odds are you will score 2 shots each so that is 60 S7 shots, big difference between S7 and S4, even with 4 units of boyz you will have enough to cap objectives, especially if the gretchin are camping the home objective. The big reason I would bring 30 lootas over 75 boyz is in a tournament environment you may have a cap on time and 120 is already a lot of boyz 180 is even more, moving all of them is going to be a time sink, especially if you move them all and decide to run them 1st turn as likely nothing will be in range, your game will probably end by timing before the game is actually over. Also and this is not a reason to not bring a competitive list to a competitive tourney but your opponent will hate that he has to wait a large amount of time just so you can do your movement phase. As for the KFF, yep they will save you some Orks but boyz dying is fun for everyone and if 2 boyz units are in the front the 2 units behind them are getting a cover save from them.

I agree with you about the timing issue. Typically my opponent has allowed me to run my boyz in the movement phase so it really cuts down on the time. My game turns are truly pretty fast since I'm used to running a standard 150 boyz. The lootas will provide a lot to the list though. I'll have to do some play testing to see what I like. I still have a solid 5 games and probably more before the tourney.

I love the double warphead list and have run it myself. One game I had with a warboss and 1 warphead I had 4 WAAAGHS and the free one you get. With 3 dakka jets it is so sweet. I hardly ever use big meks now unless running vehicles, but I have hardly done that in 6th, use the grots as a screen, save the hq for warboss on bike T6 S10 pk or double warphead. In 6th I never leave home for Orks without them... Good luck man..

I have no doubt the wapheads would be awesome to field and a Tom of fun to boot. However, I think I should build a list around them and this one may not be that list. I do think the 5+ save will serve me a little better than 1 warphead.

I freaking love it... I was all about... "meh I dont need no planes..." "I dont want to fold to fashion Orks dont need no new-flashy-flayer-thingies" this list made me all "ERMAGHERD I NEED 3 JETS RIGHTAWAY" "I WANNA DAAAKKAAAA DAAAKKAAAA DAAAKKAAAA DAAAKKAAAA DAAAKKAAAA DAAAKKAAAA"
My first thought was... nah 3xtoo much needs some gretchin... then I saw last entry.
Anyway, just to add to the Op request and seeing the discusion, I'd cut one lootas for some Shoota' boys, and I would AT LEAST make 2 of those into slugga boys, I know... new rules, new whaag, whatever, I play green wave just to roll a million dice in close quarters, those extra attacks are very valuable in the late game, when you are assaulting with many many less boyz.
and another add... all the infantry 3xrokkitlaunchas... they be soooo god, I hit on a 5+? ok I dont care, every damage hurts, ad rokkits hurt like saltbulets

That is an awesome list, but it's not the one I'm running lol. The first post of this thread is the modified list that I decided to go with. The 180 boyz sluggas and shootas mixed. 2 dakka jets, KFF mech, aegis line, and 9 Kannons. I think the list seems solid. I'm very excited to see now it runs.
