Would appreciate any feedback on this list.

Lord w Bike, Aura, Burning Brand

Plague Marines x5, Plasma x2
Plague Marines x6, Rhino, Plasma x2, VotLW

Bikers x3, MoN

Oblit, MoN

750 pts. Will be playing my friend's tzeentch themed csm or possibly dark eldar. Any thoughts? Will I get crushed with such a low model count?

No Heldrakes? Theres a good man

If your friend plays a lot of 1000 sons then your model count should be the same as they are also very expensive. You should hug cover with your PM's to benefit from cover saves and FNP against his AP3 bolters.

I think the list will do ok in such a small game.

If you're playing Tsons then I think a heldrake would win you the game almost every time at this points level. If you don't have one then the 2 oblits are a good idea too. You could deepstrike them in where his 2 of his squads of Tsons are and flame them then assault them asap

The black mace is pretty useless against power armour. Use the axe of blind fury on your lord. Maybe put him on a bike too so he can get to work with it before they have time to shoot you down.
Those bikers should also be packing plasma or melta, not flamers...
Such a tough army should win at this points level.

He cant use the AoBF unless he takes MoK. I think OP wants a Nurgle list.

He wants. I would take claw or BBoS if you want artifact and a bike ofc. Also mace is pretty useless on lord.

I agree with the other guys. Drop the mace and the SoC, that's enough points for a bike, aura, and brand. Put your lord with your bikers and watch them go to town. And remember the brand is torrent so park that lord in the back!!

Those changes with your exact list is 730 so you have 20 points to play with. Personally I would leave one group of plague marines on an objective in your deployment zone so drop a rhino. Now you have 55 points. Get plasma guns for both squads of marines, for double tap AP2, and buy an extra guy for the squad in the rhino, and finally give the rhino guys Vet of the Long War. I don't think you need melta guns with two oblits at this points level, and more shots that make him rely on his invul save is good for you.

Awesome. Edited the list now. I'm looking forward to this. Reason I gave the bikers flamers was because I only had 10 pts left in that first list and couldn't give them anything else. Thanks for the input over black mace. My main army is cron air so I've felt the pain of the mace. That's also the reason I'm not using a helldrake.

Heldrake is the best model in it codex. You're only humping yourself by not taking them

With out MoN for your lord, you won't be able to take PM's as troops.

Also take a Heldrake if you want. The people against it are the ones who can't handle it.

Yeah that, or maybe we're the ones who can actually win our games without the most powerful model in the dex.
But keep bringing your turkeys, and sweep your opponents aside. That's soooo funny

My bad. The lord still has MoN.

I won't be fielding a drake.

I think that's a great 750 point list. Everything is a tough target, and everything will be able to hurt the other guy. Two oblits will wreck your opponent and T6 bikers should pose a huge problem.

Have fun with this list.

I agree, the only people opposed too the drake are the ones who can't counter it.

Jesus wept...

I actually play csm, and I'm opposed to it.
I have access to flakk missiles, Quadguns and - wait for it - Heldrakes on my own, so I am very capable of countering them.

Honestly its you people who seem to think that it is impossible to win without it that imo are poor generals, and even more so when you in all sincerity suggests a Drake in a tiny little game of only 750 points, and its a friendly game, between two friends ffs.

Bringing the best weapons at your disposal makes you a good general, I doubt the best generals in the u.s. Army will arm their squad with muskets...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also flakk missles are too expensive and ineffective against a heldrakes armor 12. A regular squad of havocs with autocannons ia better vs armor.12 fliers

Ahh fantastic, lets mix stuff from the real wars where it is vital to offer your troops the best possible equipment, with a futuristic wargame where some people like me (ie. the good generals) enjoys winning a really close fought game by not bringing the most powerful weapon to the table.

Also thanks for reinforcing my statement about countering drakes. Yes AC havocs will also do the trick, mind you I was only naming possible ways to countering, not which was the most effective.
But in terms of effeciency, dont 4 flakkmissiles that shoots at a flyer have a better chance of hurting it than the 8 AC shots? I mean, they're both S7 ap4 but the flakks have Skyfire.

Oh and by the way, the most successful U. S. general, wouldn't that be George Washington? He did win your independence for you didn't he? And with a fair few muskets wouldn't you agree?

Helldrake at 750 seems like cheese to me, so depends if you're competitive or friendly. I wouldn't take it, and since you have a nicely themed army list, why wreck it by trying to include a flier?

I like your original list, just needs MoN on your lord. I think it will do well.

Helldrakes are one of those tough nuts to crack at low points totals. At 750 I bring an aegis, a cadre fireblade to man it, a Riptide, and 2 HYMP.. so when I see an opponent come up with a hell turkey I just smile. But I only make that call when I know people are going to be bringing the cheese/strongest dex items to the field so I can reliably counter that threat without gimping the rest of my troops. If I'm expecting less of an air threat I will likely swap out the aegis for an ionhead with my leftover points.

I love when people bring the aegis. I kill it turn one when my drakes in reserve, then when the drake comes in it's dead. Sometimes I even ignore it. Str 7 vs armor 12 good luck. Lol

Hence the secondary and tertiary cover with my HYMP Broadsides and Riptide. But of course Daly, if someone's army has a reliance on making it to drakes getting in (and not getting shot down before contributing) of course you're going to knock one or two of these things down if possible.

lol heldrake at 750 pt so you have to advertise your friend and he will do the same... heldrake win alone at this point lvl. go for two drake xd

Seriously if you want to enjoy the game ignore drake and flyers at this lvl.

I recently won vs hard gk list with:

DP tzeench backmace wings armour - he just killed the nemesis but that was an execution xd
slaanesh lord w/ lightning claw and 5+

noise marines with blastmaster
cultist x10

Rhinos assigned to noise but for the cultist and easy objective

2 unit of 1 oblis w/nurgle mark.

That was pretty good, oblis are awesome and the blastmaster is so nasty xd

Tell them Mortorian wouldn't approve of the drake. I run a Death Guard army too, no room for it. I run a DoN DP with wings if I need a flyer. More expensive, but at least my army theme is left unviolated and my fluffy little conscience lets me sleep at night. I with you, big ups.

That being said he wouldn't have lost as many troops if he had taken a Heldrake. I'm sure the mothers of both the Continental Army soldiers and Chaos Marines would like to have their sons back...

I would drop veterans on the PM's and use the points (I cant recall how many it would get you) for spec weapons on the bikers, even if its 2 flamers.

I cant believe i read all this heldrake argument just to find out the last post suggested was what i was reading carefully to not repeat.

If someone calls you out for relying on super weapons then accept their challenge and win without it.

I also think this is thread necroing. The thread is many months ago.

I agree with dank robber, votlw is waste of points on cult troops.
