Hey guys, I promised I would be posting a log here eventually. I've finally found the time to post this.

So while I will mostly be posting my Blood Angel chapter project where I assemble at least the first 3 companies of the chapter (maybe more, we'll see ) I'll also share commission projects and random pieces I paint when my mind wanders.

I'll also be receiving a large wood table from my local GW store, so pretty soon I'll be assembling a table!

To give a little background on me, I'm a professional painter who's been working in the industry for the last 9 years. I was introduced to the hobby in 1997 though with a set of Ork 'Ard Boyz. (Yes the metal/plastic hybrid kit)
I have worked for various companies freelance such as Chapter House and Lazuli Miniatures. I work full time so I have to make time to paint, usually late at night.

So now that the general greeting is done, I'll share some photos!

What I currently have in box for the project and not what's already off the sprue or assembled.

One of those battleforces actually contains 2 Caestus Assault Rams.

Took this before putting them into the box. Possibly going to cast myself up two more. We'll see!

Paints ready to go, I moved them to my bedroom because the office is to hot to paint in at this time of year. Picked the box of sprues up for $20, enough parts to make 25 marines and add several more unique bitz and weapons.


And the paint cabinet with my finished pieces in it! I wish I had more in it but I never finish anything for myself! :(

Games Workshop Grapevine Mills closes doors for the last time.

So spent my birthday today at my local GW for the last day of business. This week I've picked up a lot of great free stuff and bought some stuff with an employee discount for the final time.
I also played a game at 1K using a randomly made up Dark Angel list with 2 Contemptors against Tau with 2 Riptides and 2 Hammerheads. All he had left was his warlord, I however lost mine. :( Neither contemptor died though!
What I now own:

Table and board. It's going to be my bland fantasy table that I use for escalation league and until I build my city board.

Free Mega Paint set almost complete, including a pot of Scaly Green, Green Ink, Yellow Ink, Magenta Ink, Blue Ink, Terrecotta, Tanned Flesh, Bronzed Flesh, ect. ect.

fantasy tower thing, I'll repaint it.

Books! I don't read much but I think I'll start!

I did a lot of commission work and display projects for the store over the years so when they closed I had prime pickings of the stuff and had to abuse a 50% off discount!

Now I have finally finished my test model for the Angels! Still need to come up with a base, but I'm not sure yet!

The blue details really pop, the hair and the earpiece kinda blend together though.

And I really wish I could do purity seal scribbles as good as you do >.<

The scribbles are easy! Very thin black paint with a size 000 Windsor & Newton Series 7.

Here's the update I wanted to post yesterday but wasn't able to due to internet failure and other things!

Added the Company badge on this guy!

Also finished a Rhino minus a bit of freehand on the black hatch.



And with flash to show just how subtle some of the weathering is.



And next squad member! Red just needs weathering, everything else is just basecoated.


Going to strip a Grey Knight Dreadnought so I can do some NMM work next week! Also primed a Valhallan officer tonight to paint for fun while working on a clients Deathwing tomorrow!

Took a Gold in Historical Single at Wargames Con 2013. My first ever historical model. Not happy with the result, I finished him 5 minutes before deadline, but definitely made me want to do more historical pieces.

Interesting Rhino weathering. It looks like it's been through some seriously bad sandstorms!

Really loving the attention to detail here, from the auspex screen to the the really mystical look of the Farseer, partly granted by his red/purple shifting cape!

I saw the compressor... you do not paint in your bedroom do you? I assume you have some kind of ventilation?

I have repeatedly requested from GW of what is in their paints. Reds and Yellows tend to have Cadmium which is fine with brush painting but hugely hazardous sprayed.

Just want to keep you alive long enough to see your good work!

Yes the rhino is beat to hell! I tried to keep it to small chips on the marines as I feel like they'll take better care of armour even on campaigns than a rhino

I do paint in the bedroom with the airbrush. I don't use it much so I'm not to concerned about vapours. I usually use it with Andrea paints and weathering enamels. If I am going to use it a lot I have an industrial grade rebreather that I purchased and Home Depot that I wear while brushing but thank you for your health concerns!
I do have an actual office but it has no A/c so Texas summers I abandon it for the bedroom with a fan and window unit!

I completely had no idea that GW paints were potentially hazardous to my health if airbrushed. Oh hells... I'm going to go to my apartment's common living area and spray next time...

Just be careful when you spray and you should be ok!

Alright guys! I've started one of the biggest projects to the date. With the closing of the GW store and collection of some cool gear, I am expanding my tiny one room studio into a large game room and studio!

So I have some photo's of the room after I cleaned the walls of dirt and grime, and steamed the carpets. They still need a professional cleaning but it's a start.


You can see I pushed all the furniture into the studio space, I've already started moving some back into the room.



I will be redoing all the electronics in there including adding a 42" plasma tv, a soundbar, and a blu-ray player, as well as setting up the home network to have media files shared.

The Gaming table will be in the center of the room with the narrow end against the windows. I'll also have a rug underneath it.

Once the game room is done, I'll have to move into the office and fix that up as well! Hopefully I can get back to painting soon!

Hey guys, just a small update. Tonight had no painting but I did some work!


One stripped contemptor and Grey Knight Dreadnought. Two more Contemptors ready for simple green! Should have all 3 assembled in a day or two!

A hobby nirvana mate, very jealous of propel who can dedicate a room to gaming.

Well it took a while to convince the missus, and even longer to convince the roommates!

Worst part is we've been talking about moving by the end of the year as well!

And I'm sure you could dedicate a whole room! Your models deserve one! You'll just have to get stateside and swing by!

Alright so the painting I did today I can't share yet! I'm holding out till it is completed!

Now I did get some stuff done tonight to show!



I'll be priming him before I go to bed! Not sure if I'll paint him first or finish the tactical marines. Hmm, decisions decisions!

Alright guys, here's another small update.


The Dreadnought was primed and basecoated. I also assembled 3 Ravenwing Black Knight bikes and and did some gap filling, a bit more to do before I continue assembly.


Anyway off to bed!
