Hello all

Anyone here play Weiss Schwarz?

If so do you use purely the english release cards or the japanese too?

I am looking to get into the game. I will have an English Sword Art Online deck and more than likely Japanese Guilty Crown and Zero no Tsukaima decks. So my answer is both eventually.

nice one !

I have so far only built a Madoka Magica deck.

But I own the other two english releases too!

Its a great game, plays very well and has a great inbuilt balance tool.

I've got a friend who picked up Sword Art and Madoka Magica at Gencon. He's made me interested in getting a deck too. Any word on what the next release might be?(or when?)

The next English release is Project Diva ( vocaloid Hatsune Miku)

After that not sure!

Im hoping for some of the big japanese releases like Fairy Tail or Evangelion!

I may pick that one up then, I'd rather not get the same deck he has. I think I heard somewhere that they won't be releasing any of the older Japanese sets in english- they're just going to do simultaneous releases from now on. (could be wrong about that)

It'd suck if that were true >.<

But then Miku's release kinda goes against that as its been out in Japan a long while (heres hoping!)

I know, I was hoping for an Evangelion release myself. They also have a lot of cool stuff they could port over that would suck to miss out on in English(Angel Beats, Persona, Disgaea, King of Fighters)

Disgaea you can get an english starter for!

Problem is they are rare as heck >.<

Yeah about $60-80 for one. I am hoping that they just don't do simultaneous releases. I wouldn't mind if they did cause I would just get the Jap. cards I want and run them in Jap. format events.
On a side note, I bought a bunch of packs of English SAO today. It felt good to finally be able to buy some WS.

I missed out on a Disgaea starter on the cheap recently. At a con in the UK they had them for sale but the GF was being stroppy at the time so had to go early arghh lol

Hopefully you will get a signed card! I love pulling those out of packets or starters!

Nope, no signed card. I would love to pull one, but I usually have gak luck opening packs. I did get a RR Yui though. I hope the rest of the packs are still there next week so I can pick up the rest of the box.

So far Ive been lucky enough to get 2 signed cards (although this is across 3 sets and 2 boxes worth!)

I usually sell them so I can buy more packs lol

Thank you. I called my FLGS early and had the rest of the SAO booster box put aside for me. Now, I just wish that I could find a place close to me that is willing to support the game and run games' day.

It's a shame you dont live in the UK. Alot of us are pushing the community here hard.

Ive done some demos at local games cons to get people into it!

You could do the same, get the shop to sponsor it and spread the word!

There are a couple of stores in my area that play. They are a bit of a haul, and I don't know for sure if the attendance is decent. I know the store in my city and the next closest store are both squeamish about the cost (my local one loves to poke fun at the climax cards, and you can probably guess what the joke is about).

But I think it is definitely time to make a push for the game, if I could get my friends on-board it would be easier. Alas, one is complaining about start-up costs and the other only wants a Fairy Tail deck. I think if I could drum up interest in the other store then I could get some serious store support.

lol yeah everyone loves that joke >.<

For sure!

Also tell them that the starter deck is very competitive straight out of the box. Its one thing I like about the game that the starters are actually built to be good!

So if they dont fancy buying alot of cards they could grab a starter and play or just expanding it with a booster or two!

Yeah I have noticed that about the TDs. They are well constructed. I have seen bat. reps online where the TDs gave the finely tuned decks a run for their money. I don't recall any other ccg giving you that much value for a starter. They usually want the decks to be just a device to get you to buy boosters.

I think if push comes to shove I might try to just get the stores to run tournaments and gaming days. Build up interest in the game, and the tournaments are for store credit anyway (it would supply me my CF-Vanguard cards; so I can spend my money on WS). My friends will come around once the game is live in front of them (like for vanguard).

Sounds like a good plan to me!

and for sure, it's great for casual players and vets to have such strong trial decks!

It gives us a chance to try out new sets without needing to fully dive in. I think it was a good strategy for newer guys too. They can pick up a TD and compete with vet built decks. It really evens things out for learning the game, and focusses more on player skill and decision making.

definately. Thats another + of the game. Because when you take damage it allows you to play more powerful cards it helps prevent new players from getting totally stomped -

( yu gi oh cough....magic cough....) lol

I have watched games where 1 player shoots right up to lvl 2 and the other guy is trapped at lvl 0. The lvl 2 player easily turned the game around. Both of them reached lvl 3 at about the same time.

I remember those stompings from when I was younger and just starting up card games with pokemon and yu-gi-oh. (Shudder)

Each set being fairly independent, besides sequels and EBs, helps too. It actually doesn't matter if you can buy everything from each set (contrary to yu-gi-oh's ridiculous "'The more you got, the stronger you get!" slogan).

Yeah Yu-Gi-Oh ...I just couldnt get into it. My friends son taught me (the little prodigy is obcene at the same) and stomped me so many times lol.

As for Magic its slightly better but still has the same problem.

Couldnt agree more, its all very well done!

I am really wondering what Bushiroad is going to do for the next set. We are about a month out from diva project dropping, and haven't heard any new info. I am getting a sense of foreboding for the English cards.

I really hope not >.<

I didnt really consider that, it would suck if they did stop it at that point. Be a bit silly though as they are selling like mad in the UK and they have just released two new games in English

I know in my region. The cards are selling alright. The main issue is the lack of game support. But hopefully it takes off like CF-Vanguard in my area. Started slow and now every store stocks and supports it. I think I might see a trend to Bushiroad produced games.

I don't think Weiss can reach THAT level, but if it got some decent support I would be happy with that. Considering the CCGs that I settled on are Weiss and Vanguard.

You never know. Anime is such a big thing now in the UK and USA, that might help push it.

Same for me, although I play a little magic too sometimes

Anime IS pretty awesome. That is why this game is so cool. Different animes/Japanese video games fighting it out.
