Dan O'Bannon, Alien Screenwriter wrote:Oh, we're not joking. Our goal isn't to paste a bunch of out-of-context shots or lines of dialogue to make some spurious case. We'll let Alien screenwriter Dan O'Bannon spell it out himself:
"One thing that people are all disturbed about is sex... I said 'That's how I'm going to attack the audience; I'm going to attack them sexually. And I'm not going to go after the women in the audience, I'm going to attack the men. I am going to put in every image I can think of to make the men in the audience cross their legs. Homosexual oral rape, birth. The thing lays its eggs down your throat, the whole number.'"
Hence the sexualised imagery for a lot of their stuff.
Anyone else like me find that Aliens is holding up the least well out of the series? And yeah, that even includes #4. Looking back on it now I find a majority of the characters annoying as hell (thankfully they all die), and it a bit weak over all. #4 has a dumb ending, but I can forgive that because I liked the characterisation a lot better, and interactions. #3, the extended version, is excellent. So much better than the theatrical version.
I'm not sure I agree with #2 holding up the worst, are you taking the special edition into account? Also, Aliens holds up even better for me because the special effects are phenomenal and the fact that it was filmed on such a small budget is nothing short of jaw-dropping.

This IS what they're doing, I'm surprised that people have complained for 2 pages instead of posting this information from the Facebook comments. While it would have been nice for them to address this more directly, here's some relevant info:

Any chance you will be doing clear plastic/resin for cloacked predators??

Also, I don't think anyone reposted the Predator pictures so I'll do so as well:

Oh by the way, I noticed something about the Predator picture - there's Predator symbols running below it. Now at first I thought this was just decorative (like the Xenomorph blood on the Alien pictures), but then I remembered the "Hunt the Predator" promotion that was being run at Comic-Con this year. I tracked down that decoder but found that there were different symbols. However, there is another Predator font which the Prodos guys are definitely using, which translates the message to "COMING SOON ON KICKSTARTER". Of course, this isn't new info, but this little revelation could give us new insight in the future...

Aw, was hoping for a better pic of the Alien Warriors that are unlocking at 100K. Well, shouldn't be too long to wait (I'm guessing late tonight, but they don't always update immediately so might have to wake up to the update)
LOVE the look of the Alien Warriors! I'm currently sitting at the £75 level, but might up it if more and more awesome paid add-ons get introduced. At the moment I'm only really interested in the Predalien and USCM Sergeant (one of which I'll get as a free add-on), but if Warriors are paid add-ons then I'll definitely pick up a set of those. Some Berserker Preds and Hellhounds would be epic too.

Oh bloody hell, not this again... they're right though, you can tell by how the arm connects to the "shoulder". That said though, the model is still fantastic-looking, even if it isn't quite "bio-organic" enough.

I want nothing to do with terrain, box game, or humans, but I may look into getting an Alien, Predator, or some combination (a set, or hybrid, read it both ways ) to paint up for my nephew. Not sure though, international shipping would probably make it not worth the effort. Maybe on eBay after it's done.
International shipping's 10GBP, flat. Not a half-bad number.

The Predalien's in AVP: Requiem, but they also show up in comics and the games occasionally. Basically it's an Alien, except instead of coming from a human, it comes from a Predator.
btw, Sentry Guns unlocked.

Azazelx wrote: The Predalien is actually a pretty awesome design as well, despite the movie not being all that great.
I don't like its haircut! Makes zero sense, it like saying if an alien drone came out of Miley Cyrus it would have a short side-parting, bright red lipstick and be wearing briefs.
Also, 'that scene' in the 2nd AvP movie (which was that day's 'GTA torture scene' if I remember correctly)
Will be interesting to see what the royal drones turn out - know they had a mention in one of the Steve Perry Alien books book I can't remember which one..
Though it's not actually hair, they're more like spines or whiskers (though thick and soft) - some of which get decorated on the Preds, so in that contact they still make sense. Also, while the Predalien is naked, I've never seen it swinging on a wrecking ball while crying and warbling - or rubbing it's nether regions with a giant foam hand!
"That scene"? Do you mean the
Spoiler:
hospital scene?
Let's face it, the movie was no work of art, I just like the Predalien design that they used.
Yeah the scene in question was both ballsy and tasteless at the same time. I actually watched AVP again last night because I had only seen it the one time, but it was worse than I remembered. It's just so... dull overall. I actually enjoy AVP:R to an extent (while acknowledging that it's terrible) because it does away with all the pretenses and just becomes a marathon of mindless gore featuring the two coolest movie monsters ever. On the other hand, AVP tried to be a legitimate entry in both series and failed badly, which makes it just feel boring and not really have any reason to watch it.

Joyboozer wrote: What's it about the Beserker predator that makes it different, besides appearance?
Is there an explanation behind it?
The Berserker Predator is part of the "super predators". Taken from Xenopedia The Super Predators are a sub-species of the Yautja(predators) race. They are essentially a larger, stronger version of the Jungle Hunter Predators.
They seem to value honour less, they don't have much qualms about using heavier equipment, killing immobilized prey and just straight-up kidnapping people for their game preserves. It's also implied that they're trying to improve their techniques, possibly for an invasion.

Yup, 2 10GBP freebies (although there's a list of what's available for each freebie), 5-9 Facehuggers, a Berserker Predator and if we get to 2000 backers (halfway there now) then we'll get another 10GBP to spend however we wish.

It's looking to me like, as long as new backers and pledges remain consistent, then we'll hit 2000 backers and the Alien Queen with a day or 2 to spare. Fingers crossed!

Ok time for more speculating then? Further stretch goals are an Alien mini, a game-based add-on, a Predator mini, a USCM mini, another Alien mini and then the Queen.
So for the Alien goals, we've been told that there's going to be a creature from the AVP arcade game. Of these, there's only two unique creatures - Chrysalis and Razor Claws. Of the two, Chrysalis is more likely since Razor Claws seems to be a one-off creature... plus the Chrysalis looks so much cooler. I imagine it'll be the last Alien add-on before the Queen... of course, assuming this is true anyway. As for the other Alien add-on, it's a bit of a mystery. If they don't dig into the EU more then I'd have to venture a guess at Chestbursters.
For the game add-on, it's almost certainly a hardcover rulebook. Fingers crossed for it being a free add-on since the rulebook doesn't seem to be included in the box...
The Predator mini is probably cloaked Predators in clear resin, since Prodos has said that these exist. If not then my only other guess is an Ancient Predator... although now that I think about it, that'd be pretty badass.
For the USCM, fingers crossed on a power loader. Holy crap would that ever be cool!

STOKED from the finally fully-filled out stretch goals! I can't understand why people think free stuff is bad... Gonna have to consider upping my pledge from "Payback Time" to "Real Aliens Ain't From Mars" depending on how much the upcoming stretch goals run for...
Also, PLEASE DO NOT use the Predator designs from AVP, they look just awful. Too fat and broad, they look like they can hardly move. I'm curious to see how Young Bloods are differed in the minis compared to a regular Predator hunting pack...

It's probably worth noting that, considering that the Praetorian and all the other Aliens we've seen thus far have been based on the organic look, it's pretty likely that the Warriors are going to be AVP:R Warriors rather than Aliens...

CptJake wrote: Knowing the queen will be available 'weeks not months' after the project, what is the incentive to hit that goal?
Hmm well that makes me feel a bit better if we fail to hit that goal... if nothing else then we can probably expect ~230k as a minimum, assuming no spike at the end of the campaign.

RiTides wrote: Well, they mentioned they'll try to show the difference in the next update, so hopefully it's not such a big deal (I don't think it will be, but yeah, more info would be good!)
There's an outside shot at unlocking the rulebook today, as it's at 207K and the book is at 210K. That'd be nice as I'm sure they'll be busy tomorrow with the demo day... looking forward to seeing pics of the models in action (and these should be the models from the base box, so folks can get a better idea of what they're getting, although all of these have been shown already in photos afaik).
Fingers crossed! We're averaging about 4k GBP per day, hopefully that starts to jump soon though - I want that damn Queen!
OrlandotheTechnicoloured wrote: The timing is (probably) down to the terms of the licence, requiring them to deliver the game within a certain time frame...
(I'm sure they'd have preferred to wait until all the Warzone pledges were delivered simply because many people won't back a second KS from a company until they do)
Wouldn't it be in the licensor's best interest to make sure a company can deliver a product (when they have no other product experience) before allowing them to create one with their IP? I doubt it is a term of the license, I think it is excitement for what they are doing, which caused them to "jump the gun".
Remember, these are the guys who did Alien 3...
