As someone who plays Malifaux and will eventually play the new Robotech minis game, I have literally zero interest in these being compatible with other lines. I can appreciate that some might have a desire to use them as proxies, sure, but count me among the "remain internally consistant, frak the rest" votes.
That said, considering that a little tweaking might allow said figures to be used in other games, which could be a financial boon, I wouldn't fault them for a little tweaking either.
Regardless, I'm intrigued and will keep an eye out for this as it develops.

No.
Have you?
Aliens is one of my all time favourite films, and the only movie I've ever bought 3 times (VHS, DVD, Digital).
If this is a KS, I could totally see buying in for some marines and aliens if there's such a tier, maybe a predator or two as an add on (Alien vs Predator: Prey was a book I enjoyed as a kid, and would totally make my own Broken Tusk), but given that my friends and I just jumped in for $Macross on the Robotech mini game KS that happened earlier this year, I don't think we'll be down for anything absurd.
S&H will also be a consideration. That's been going up, and I can't speak for anyone but myself, but man, getting reamed on shipping is getting old.

Was pondering this earlier. Given that Predators are typically solitary hunters, the Marines generally acted in squads (duh), and the Aliens (where a Queen/hive was available) are known for acting as a Swarm, it wouldn't surprise me if that was basically how the game scaled. A small group of Predators (1-2) roughly equals a larger group of Marines (3-6?) roughly equals a larger group of Aliens (6-12?). Base the game on points (gear/training for the Predators and Humans, evolutionary advances for the Aliens, numbers of each) and it could go from small skirmish of 1 Predator vs X Marines or 2-3x Aliens (more or less based on said upgrades).
How well such a system might scale up to dozens or hundreds of figures for massed warfare might require some tweaking, but the movies, books, comics and games have generally followed fairly simple and straightforward paths along those lines.
That's just something I've been pondering these last few days, and could easily be wrong, but if you put the races down into standard game tropes, they fit pretty naturally in my opinion. Of course, I could be way off, but assuming my vague napkin math isn't too far off, it'd allow for a 20'ish figure 'starter box', and if it were a KS campaign there's always the possibility of KS exclusive or LE figures like specific marines, special variants of the Aliens, objective markers (Newt, Bishop torso, etc), it's quite a rabbit hole to go down.

At 28mm scale, both would be... pretty big.
My Aliens Technical Manual seems to be MIA (moving twice in the last 9 months will do that), but a little google and some quick napkin math indicate the Dropship would be around 16 inches long.
I'm not terribly familiar with Warhammer, but a cursory googling indicates that this would be comparable to some pretty hefty models. It's only an assumption, but based on the novels, movies and comics I've read, it feels more like a skirmish level game rather than one of larger warfare, which generally means a smaller combat area.
Basically, I could see some form of outline 'terrain' piece for the APC, but the dropship would... a hell of a thing.

It'd be nice to have an idea, but that may be part of why they aren't bothering.
Like releasing a movie, even a popular one, next to a "$Texas" summer blockbuster, they might just be keeping their heads down so whatever they have to say isn't lost in the roar of wallets opening and being laid at the altar of Bones.

Why bother saying anything if they weren't planning on acting on it in the near future?
It's like teasers a year before a movie is due out. "Great, you've got my interest... but why bother, you're probably going to have to get it again by the time you're ready to actually say something."
Also, their very first image says "Coming soon".
While that certainly presents some minor ambiguity, hopefully we can agree that 10+ weeks is a bit far off to be considered "soon".
Well, unless they're Blizzard or Valve.

Yeah, I'm sure it varies based on the sum and a number of factors, but 10% off the top for KS and Amazon versus whatever interest the bank or another institution would charge over a year or whatever don't make it nearly as black and white. Yeah, it's a big name and they just had another solid campaign go by.
Which cuts both ways; why wouldn't they do another?
But until they have more to share, it's all academic.

Oh, that's a nice shot.
Good to see that the predators are suitably larger than the marines.

I was hoping on a bunch of news regarding this and the Robotech kickstarters today. Now I'm just left with the latter. And let's be real, one of those was likely just going to be a delay announcement. So now they both are. But I have doubts the second will only be 3 days.

Oh, I have no doubt.
Just to be clear, that was entirely a snipe at Palladium at the Robotech KS, as saying their communication style leaves something to be desired would be the understatement of the year.
You guys have been solid, and 3 days is totally reasonable with a busy weekend looming.

Agreed. In the expanded universe, their adaptability was always part of what made them so scary. If something else lived there, and the facehuggers could survive long enough to implant a host, you could have a resilient strain on the go in no time.
Nitpicking hand and foot details on a species that, world to world and hive to hive may have different hands and feet seems a little far, but I can understand that for some it's the little details that are most important. I'm not saying it's unreasonable to take issue with those changes/inaccuracies, but I don't have a problem with 'em.

Interesting. I'd be okay with snagging a base box set (if I can justify the cost) to get things started (Predator, couple of marines, more Aliens, or at least that's the vague ratio I'm assuming we'll see) with the KS helping fund expansions/special editions/limited promotions/etc.
Retailers get to draw people in with the box set, KS gets some bonus funding flowing to expand the lineup and effectively does a little market research at the same time, 2014 is filled with the results. Seems pretty reasonable if that remotely resembles how things may go down in the coming months.

Kickstarter creators and backers alike have been embracing this whole "better late than bad" which seems like a false dichotomy. Ideally, creators would pick a reasonable delivery target date and then, like, double it. Account for delays in advance and become heroes for delivering 'early'.
Instead, the active meme seems to all but reward unrealistic delivery dates. Why bother picking something sensible with contingency time in place when you can just tell backers "oh, totes 6 months" and if it goes to 9+, 'ooops', you've already got their money and nobody really reads comment walls past the project's completion.
Don't get me wrong, the KS community's understanding is admirable, to a degree, but the touting of delays as signs of excellence seems rather backwards to me.
There's a difference between 'one particular sculpt came back badly, had to redo it, retool, sorry it took a couple of extra weeks' and 'whelp, did we say 7 months? We meant 9. Maybe 10-11+. We'll see.
Warboss knows who I'm talking about.
