hey guys im really liking the look of eve and am hoping to purchase 3 months of membership to experience the game but first id like to ask a few questions

1. whats your experience with eve?

2. is it hard to get plex, an idea ive had is spending the first 3 payed months grinding for plex and then I might trun a profit and get 4 months of plex and do this constantly, grind a bit play, grind a nd play so I wouldn't have to pay. I hate subscription games....

3. if I do play, any spare pieces of equipment you can throw at a noob/starter like me? ?

Well, I've been playing eve for about a year now. It's a love/hate relationship, but more love. What's important is to run all the tutorials, and then decide on some career choice. It's not permanent, but you need focus early on so that you can be effective.

A lot of players, myself included, think they can grind out a plex in a month. You're right, technically, but it turns eve into a second job, which is no fun. You will in all likelihood need to pay for the first couple of months. I still do.

Most important out of these is to find a corporation of people that do something you like and join them. Playing eve alone is usually boring, some people enjoy it, but space is a big place and can be very empty.

I can't promise you'll be able to join my corp as there is a skill point minimum to help mitigate spies (a common threat in eve), but convo Joseph Corbeux in game and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

I'm quite interested in a merc corp or being a pirate style guy. any recommendations?

Let me see. Faction Warfare is a common place for new guys to learn the ropes while making isk (in game currency). Plenty of opportunities to fight. Several corps in each faction's militia would be happy to take on a newbies, although honestly it's been a while since I've done FW. Ask around in the militia chat of the side you join, if you do join. When first starting off, take a look at battleclinic or evekill and look at how people have fitted their ships. For a newbie, stick to trying to master frigates. The time to reach max skills for frigates means you can reach a veteran's level of fitting although you might lack the piloting skill so to speak. But it will put you closer to a level playing field and help you capitalize on enemy mistakes.

Yeah I quite like the rifter and the minmatar are my favourite faction.

I have a 2008 character I barely play these days. I've done a little bit of everything; 0.0, WH, Piracy, mining, high-sec warfare, and just general randomness. I can't quite bring myself to play the way I used to, but I can certainly log in and shower with some ISK I barely use/need.

Assuming you have a job/income, you'll probably get a lot more enjoyment out of the game if you just pay the subscription. Something like a little over $100 for us Canadians for the year isn't bad for two free expansions every year and the freedom of not dealing with PLEXes and the grind.

Minmatar = Winmatar. Not that I'm biased or anything...

On another note, Any thoughts if dust 514 is coming to PC dust is the exact game ive dreamed of as a child but having it PS3 exclusive is a big let down...

Oh man....I have billions sitting in a deactivated account. Quit cold turkey to start playing 40k again. Seemed better for my brain to paint and model again rather then stare at a screen.

I love EVE.I love all things minmatar. If you want to pirate, Minmatar is the race for you.

I just wish I would have gotten my Nidhoggur and Naglfar into battle before I quit.

Likewise. Was running 2 accounts, and effectively running a small mining corp. It was eating up to much time, and money, damn PLEX...

Fun game, hell of a learning curve, wouldn't mind going back, but I think I've finally got the MMO monkey off my back, and don't need to let it get a hold again.

Ah EvE, the Porsche of MMO's in my opinion, it's just so sexy but you pay through the nose for it.

1. My experience? Played on and off since '07, mainly due to life demanding more of my time and EvE falling by the wayside. Ran as a privateer for a mining company, did some mercenary work, pirated for a bit. Only thing I never did was mining, at least not until my most recent bout with the game. After being suicide ganked three times, I realized that I missed having the bigger guns so I dropped that stupid gak and went back to shooting people in the face.

2. Initially plex isn't easy to get per se, but once you find a groove where you can either play the market or get into Incursions (something like 50-100m per fight), buying plex becomes stupid easy. I did it once I started running level 5 missions, the pay outs weren't insane good, but were nice enough to net me a new ship when i wanted one and snag a plex every month.

3. Wish I did man, accounts are inactive.

About 6 months ago I tried to get into eve. I played fairly steadily for 2-3 weeks and then stopped.

It was fun at the beginning but it quickly became apparent that this would be a massive non-casual time sink. I have time the time to play eve, but I wouldn't have much time for the other games/hobbies I participate in.

So building EVE ships in Space Engineers and then watching some EVE videos on youtube.... I'm getting the itch again..... I would like to just check out all the new stuff. I would even have to remake my avatar as I quit before the 3-d guys were put in.

I'm inactive till the 30th, when I get paid and can reactivate my sub, getting kind of bored of living in a wormhole, might move back to highsec and make a few more billions.

Haven't played in years, but i've had my account active for about 6 months just skill training til life slows down a bit again. my toon is currently at 41 million skillpoints and change . I still pay for the game, rather use my isk to buy more stuff.

My account is active, I just don't have the motivation to play. Might just do Red vs. Blue to get into blowing up internet space pixels again for some quick PvP action.

For anyone needing ISK or someone to chat with while we collectively spin ships, I go by Blacksails in game. 71M SP, all PvP focused, Minmatar/Amarr with some Caldari thrown in. I enjoy blowing stuff up, long walks on the beach, and drinking excessively while doing stupid things online.

Its unlikely to happen to be honest. IIRC CCP signed an exclusivity contract with Sony (for some crazy, crazy reason). There would also need to be a separate server for PC players (as keyboard+mouse players will utterly slaughter joypad players) which would probably be too much for the server archetecture to handle given that Dust links into the main EvE server.

I still don't know why Dust wasn't simply released on the PC in the first place.
