Subject: Appropriate Biovore base size - is it 60mm, or is the GW website wrong?

The GW website lists the Biovore as coming with a 60mm base:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1460219a
Is that correct that it now comes with a 60mm base, or is that an error on the website? I'm fine either way, just want to make sure I base mine correctly.
The Pyrovore page also lists a 60mm base.

Unless they changed it with the last codex, its the same as a terminator base (which I think is 40mm). That's the size mine came with.

While that's fine for new models, I like to base mine up to current standards. My ancient metal 2nd edition Biovores fit okay on a 40mm but would be dwarfed by a 60mm base.
So - someone that's purchased one recently, what's the current base size?

Based on the picture, the base is 40mm not 60mm. Assuming the Spore Mines are to scale (compared to the Biovore), you'd be able to fit just under 2 25mm bases across the biovore's base.

Yeah, I guess what I'm looking for is someone who has recently bought a Biovore- say, since the codex released. If it came with a 60mm, it would seem that is the "new" size... but if it came with a 40mm, it would seem that is a typo on GW's website.

The "new" biovores I believe are on a 60mm base the older ones are on a 40mm. I suspect it was to match the pyrvore. As RiTides what ever is in the package is the correct size.

For reference, the Hive Tyrant is on a 60mm base. The Biovore is not a monstrous creature, I can't believe that it really is on a 60mm.

Bloodcrushers are big, Biovores are tiny and look ridiculous on a 60mm base.
They are supplied with both, btw.

Can you explain how this is possible? GW sells them with 60mm bases, so if you're buying a new model, you're getting it with a 60mm base.
Unless I'm missing something obvious but I would need to see a link to where you can buy it with a 40mm base to think that has any bearing on the discussion...
Just for reference, I'm not asking because I want people to re-base old models- I'm asking because I'm about to build some and want to make sure I use the correct base size for new models.

Biovores are so expensive (and ugly) that 40mm ones are still sitting in some stores able to be bought.

Mine are on 50mm, but that's because they are hive guard conversions. I do think they have up'd the base size with this release to match the Pyrovore though.

First thing that comes to mind is: GW Store Stock. I'm sure my local GW has a box of each, both "New"...

Well, old stock aside, I'm just glad to know what size to put my converted ones on. Going to use up any extra space by putting on a spore mine or two
I don't mind folks using old ones on 40mm, of course, just want to base mine on the correct "new" size

My buddy plays with one of each generation of biovore. It's rather hilarious to see all 3 side by side. It's like the evolution of man. The original late 90s version is barely bigger than a space marine. You'd be suprised how upset people get when you don't play with matching models.

I know, that is why I made sure to get a full brood of the previous gen TG when the model changed, same with Broadsides. You can normally get away with a full squad of older models, but mixed squads do raise hackles.

I'm surprised more nid players don't try and run full first or second edition armies. Just imagine how many less thnigs could see and target the old school fexes and hive tyrants. You could barely see them over an aegis, and definitely couldn't see them over a rhino.

For some reason I get less grief about using the old Tyrant Guards (the ones that had two legs and carried a shield) then I do the old Hive Tyrant (who could hide behind Warriors). I don't know why...

If done for modeling opportunities, it's sweet, but just doing it for LOS reasons would be a bummer.
