Hey all,
so I read the rule book (well, half-read, half browed the second hlaf) and while I did saw a descriptor of the defence line/trench system giving 4+ save, I didn't saw the point value of it anywhere.
Is there such a thing as buying a ADL with an autocannons turret anymore...or is that in another supplement?

It's rules and points are found in Stronghold Assault, along with all the other available Fortifications.

Official Scenery Pieces, which most Fortifications are, should be sold with a 'datasheet' containing all the information needed.

Now with Unbound, every box should come with accompanying 'datasheets'.
But that won't happen, because GW wants to sell codices and supplements. $$ka-ching$$

The Scenery Pieces Rules inform us to refer to Datasheets that come with these Pieces, so it seems sort of vital for them to have a Datasheet supplied with them. If they still are not being supplied with these details it would be a very unusual situation where Scratch Built Terrain will have more Rule as Written support then the official pieces do. At least those have permission to be written by the players, so we can ensure that someone comes to the table with the Datasheet on hand. Personally, I am hoping it is a sign that they intend to release a lot more Scenery Pieces and Fortifications for other Factions.

So those who bought an ADL prior to the new edition has kinda been erm cheated of a datasheet?
That sucks. I guess I should count myself lucky that I didnt also buy a bastion or two. Those who bought the Imperial terrain set just before the new edition must be kicking themselves.

You know, it would have been cool if they offered a "three-pack" of the Rules, Escalation, and Stronghold Assaults as opposedto Rules, Pictures, and more Pictures.
The Stronghold Assaults book is so tiny, I have never been able to get myself to fork over the $$$ for it.

That was one of the books I never felt bad about buying. It's the cheapest of the set, had some good stuff in it. Was quite good value.

Jasper76 and Grendel083, It was a disappointment for me, it seemed like the perfect chance to give us Faction specific Fortifications....

In lieu of a Necron-specific ADL, I just bought an off-brand model and use the rules for the existing ADL:

I think there will be a lot less ADL's used in 7th. Now it seems like you will have to agree to plat Stronghold assault to use them. That means most might avoid them or be unable to convince their opponent to allow them. Maybe some TO's will rule them out now? All of this will make me happy because the ADL seems to be the 'Go To' Anti-air unit. My flyers might have a lot less to worry about.

They're part of the rulebook, so it's less "agreeing to play with them" and more "agreeing to play without them".
The change to Interceptor will take the quad-guns off the battlefield more often than TOs ruling them out.

Pretty much as soon as stronghold came out it overrode the 6the BRB. I see no problem with it it is basically codex fortifications. Yes it is a shame that it didnt have other army terrian peices in it but they may come later and may or may not have datasheets in them that might just be left to white dwarf just becuase the vengeance batteries and firestorm dorsnt mena anything else will all the other terrain perices such as basiclla and such dont have them in.
Just means we have to save up a bit of money to buy another book not the end of the world

You won't need the Stronghold codex tbh, ADL stats and everything it can do are all in BRB. If you want the bigger and badder stuff, get the codex

The points costs are not in the BRB; fielding Bastions and ADLs and just about every older piece other than the skyshield can only be fielded via the BRB as Battlefield terrain, not fortifications.
As for a distaste in buying Stronghold assault, a community copy for your gaming group is not a bad idea. Every player in your group can take the datasheets therein so there is no reason for everyone to have their own copy(assuming you have a common group).

Considering that is where I got mine, I would disagree. I knew the points for my Aegis and I never heard of a codex it until today

The points cost for an ADL is not in the 7th Edition rule book.
It was in the 6th Ed rule book but then Stronghold Assault came along and essentially replaced the rules for fortifications.

What's the page number of where the ADL points are listed in the 7th edition BRB?
IE - the datasheet. I'm aware it was in the 6th edition BRB.

Dunno, haven't bought 7th, still using 6th for the most part, nobody specified which BRB to use as a majority are still on 6th I assumed you'd check there as well. Nothing changed for anything listed in 6th that I've noticed but I haven't fully read the codex for forts yet

In 7th, if you want to use a fortification, you'll need Stronghold Assault for those points and datasheets.
If you want to use Lords of War you'll need to buy the Escalation book.
If you want to use Orks, you'll need to be the Ork Codex in 2 weeks.
It's all about buying the books associated with the models you want to play with.
More On Topic though.... A few things to note that have changed between 6th and 7th concerning the ADL (and Quadgun)
- Interceptor no longer allows Skyfire weapons to fire at ground targets at full ballastic skill
- Fortifications (including ADL) are deployed when you deploy the rest of your army and only in your deployment zone
- ADL, specifically, no longer has to be in 1 continual link as that FAQ entry was not replicated in Stronghold Assault Book and was not replicated in the Stronghold Assault FAQ that came out last week. You only have to make sure at least 2 pieces are touching together.

Is there a digital copy of Stronghold Assault? Since the new faqs came along, there have been one or two things which were updated in the digital codex but had their previous faq removed, presumably because they have updated the digital codex. But the physical codex still shows old versions.

Stronghold Assault is available digitally via iTunes or Black Library - http://www.blacklibrary.com/games-workshop-digital-editions/Stronghold-Assault.html
To my knowledge, the FAQs that came out for 7th last week were the first updates to the book since its release back in December but I may be wrong and just didn't notice previously.

You sure that just cause it was omitted that the rule is different now? Heard of other occasions when people think this but it's more simply because no new FAQ has come out yet
