I read that Joan rivers is in a coma after she stopped breathing during a surgery. What is happening with all the actors dying all of a sudden?

I'm sure there's a name for it. A social phenomena where something big happens, but its the kind of thing that happens everyday. Most people just don't notice it till the big thing happens (in this case the death of Robin Williams) and suddenly the news starts reporting more on the subject (Celebrity Deaths) and it creates a false effect that suddenly everyone is dying.

Happens all the time;

Earthquake in the U.S. -> lots of earthquakes get reported even though there isn't a notable change in frequency -> people think that there are more earthquakes than usual

Or maybe the world's just ending;

Hopefully she's wearing something she WOULD be caught dead in...

I was reading some news articles on this and the comments section are absolutely toxic. Seriously, guys, MOP-4.

It will be a hair ironic if the normal "Dakka ban on tasteless posts for recently dead celebrities" will apply to Mrs. Rivers, should she die, as she's sort of famous for tasteless humor.

Don't care much for her music (I prefer Patti Smith, Janis Joplin, etc as far as female artists go), but still sucks for her fans though.

I was wondering if I should post that, but I figured Joan Rivers would, so hopefully the bad taste is appropriate here...

Because they are old?
I know it sounds harsh, but generally speaking, the older someone is, the higher the chances are of them dying.

Gents, this is Joan Rivers. Fashion...Police? I don't know what to call her later work. She was a comedian in the 1980s and 90s, and a regular square on Hollywood Squares and other stuff

I always kinda thought she was a vampire... stick her in a sunless room and give her some blood and see what happens..

I think it goes without saying that Joan Rivers is a horrible person.

Then, of course, there are her numerous extramarital affairs.

I really liked her on that episode of Louis CK's show "Louie". Brilliant.

Oh my, I made a horrible mistake.

Anyways I find Joan Rivers funny at times.

Doesn't look like she's going to be pulling through this time.

A pity, but she's 81. At that age even going through minor surgery is a risk.

I wonder what kind of surgery she was undergoing.

Considering all the "work" that she had done (pretty obvious plastic surgery to maintain her looks (and she admitted having a number of them).....wouldn't it be ironic that someone dies for their vanity......especially her, of all people.

Some sort of growth on her throat, not sure if it was cancerous.

I thought it had to do with her vocal chords.

Polyps on vocal chords are quite common in those who use their voice a lot (singers, radio show hosts, etc) and they can be cancerous.

Could also be thyroid issues (throat area) - another thing that isn't uncommon in older people.

Not sure if anybody else caught this, but sadly, she did not pull through. :(

I hope her family is OK. I was never a personal fan of her style, but at least she brought some entertainment to some people's lives in this grim world, and that's something her family can be proud of.

To be completely fair, and I don't mean to sound callous but a good many of the recent actors dying are seriously fething old.
