Hello everybody, i just wanted to create a place to find and to give inspiration for converting csm chosen models.

I just bought four sets of them and i will be removing most of the special cc weapons and make them look good in the process.

I have no experience in converting, as i have only converted an arm on a sorcerer before this.

Hope you guys will post some pics aswell.

Here is my first painted of the models.

Its not completely finished but i grow restless..

I dont even know how that happened...
Its not upside down on my ipad.

Maybe if you turn your pc screen upside down or do a handstand then you can see better.

Do you guys see them as upside down?

If i press the pic they appear right side up anyways.

Anyone know why the quality of the uploads are so bad?

Yeah, kind of hard to see what you've done. I notice a few hand/weapon swaps. However it happened, the upside pics are really distracting lol. You'll probably get a better response with better pictures. It may be easier to see them if you take a photo of each one with a solid color behind them - like a piece of paper, manilla folder - something. Speaking from experience, you'll get a better response with better pics. Good luck!

The DV chosen are pretty great models that I wish would get released in something other than snap-fit. They're still not too hard to convert, though you'll spend a lot of time carving off little chunks of plastic.

Here's a few chosen I did up for a 5-man squad. Gave them all plasma guns.

This is the aspiring champ. For him I replaced the mace arm with a sword arm off the raptor sprue. The combi-plasma was a plasma pistol stuck on the end of a boltgun, which replaced his helmet.

This was an easy conversion. Just replaced the boltgun strapped to his side with a plasma gun. Chopped off the fist and gave him another raptor sword.

This guy was probably the hardest one to do. Replacing his boltgun with a plasma gun took a lot of fiddling to get the grip right. Still need to finish greenstuffing his elbow.

I'd say get the plastic raptor sprue for doing conversions to these guys. The bits on it match the same armor aesthetic as the DV chosen, so you don't end up with plain arms and weapons on detailed torsos.

Ok here i cropped out one of them.

Since i bought some orks for my gf i figured this guy would look cool, vs orks.

I replaced his bolt pistol with an ork head and some pieces from chaos spawns under for intestines and spine.

Then i made a kind of trophypole/maul/ regular ccw/ thing for him, so i can remove it and use his powerfist if i want.

Neeeat! Where are those models from?

I agree with the comment about the plastic Raptor sprue. Just got one myself and OMFG! Lots of goodies in there. Can't wait to do my next set of mini's using some of those parts.

Those are the chaos space marines that come in the Dark Vengeance starter set. They're the most detailed chaos guys available, and also ironically the cheapest. You can pick up handfuls of them from ebay for practically nothing.

I really like those conversions! So much better with close ups and right side up The only nit pick I have is the Champions Combi-Plasma. There are quite a few tutorials for doing a good looking CombiPlasma conversion. I would check one out. It just looks awkward. But seriously, a minor thing. The other guys look great! Yeah, I've got loads of these guys for cheap just waiting to be Nurglefied. Really hoping Chaos gets some new multipart kits with this kind of detail.

The newer Raptor kit is comparable in detail & styling.

Yeah, the Raptors are great, but you don't get much variety in your army using just those two kits. Better than nothing. But patience will pay off - I bet CSM get some sort of update within the next year. Hoping so, anyway. At least the raptor kit gives nice bits for pitols and close combat weapons beyond the many years old kit.

I'm using the DV Chosen as my normal CSM. I have two squads done, and another that I haven't started. Sadly I only have pictures of the one Squad.

The only conversions are the two Plasma Gunners

The other squad is with Meltaguns. I'll be doing another Plasma Gun squad at some point.

The Plasma Guns were easier to do than the Meltaguns. I'm using the weapons from the new plastic raptors kit.

Your conversions are looking great! The paint scheme could use a little work, though :p Nice work on the Dark Apostle looking guy. I like how you got the helmet to fit, but is the green part supposed to be? What sort of color scheme are you going to go for?

I just won a bunch of extra Dark Vengeance CSM for super cheap and plan on doing some conversion work on them. I'll share when I get to them. Trying to fit them into my Nurgle CSM, so expect some bloat!

The plasma guys look neat. Im going to make some when my guns arrive.

The melta guy looks exactly like my flamer guy. I like it.
Since the model dont look so good in the first place, its better to give him something to cover his front like that.

on my guy with the chainsword i was trying to make a wash out of yellow, to make it look like he was glowing from inside the ribs. But failed a bit. My first day of trying that.

on the guy with the book i wanted it to look like it was glowing out of the book. In real life i gave it another drybrush with bright blue plasma looking paint. Looks better irl.
