I... actually don't know. Help?

It makes sense, he's horribly wounded, why couldn't they just rebuild the Golden Throne into a Dreadnought Sarcophagus. I'm sensing a BS10 WS10 profile...

The space marines put into dreadnoughts are treated reverently and the sarcophagi themselves are relics. I would be one to think that if this was plausible, they would give Emps a fancier dreadnought.

The In- Character explanation for this is that the Astronomican needs to be powered and you can't fit that tech into a dreadnought.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

All the cables and stuff on the throne go places, I guess. Making a mobile golden throne is like trying to make a mobile particle accelerator. I think its just too big.

Now, making the Golden Throne into an Emperor Titan.....

I'm not sure the Emperor/Golden Throne could keep that webway portal closed if they weren't sitting right on top of it.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

There are theories that the Emperor is actually dead but the echo of his psychic powers after his death are what keep the astronomicon open, or that the 10,000 psykers being sacrificed are what's causing the astronomicon to exist without the emperor at all.

-

Its worth noting that the Emperor built the golden throne, replicating it inside a dreadnought in his dying hours would be impossible since he himself was incapacitated.

Because he was needed to maintain the psychic barriers of the webway that Magnus collapsed, so that Terra wouldn't have to face a daemonic surge.

There is old fluff that states that his soul was removed from his body, so in that sense he truly is dead. However he had Dorn place his body on the Golden Throne so that he could continue to use his body as a sort of conduit for his power in the material realm.

Actually, he didn't build the Golden Throne. They dug it up out of the desert on Terra. What it originally was, or where it comes from, no one knows.

Whether the Emperor is dead or not matters little, as this is universe where simply believing in something hard enough will cause it to become real (see: Grork and Mork). Over the millenia, the IDEA that is the God-Emperor would metamorphosize into a true God of Humanity that struggles to keep the forces of Chaos at bay.

The whole "if we think it works/exists, it does" thing only applies to Orks because of the Waaagh!. Humanity can't just will things into existence by their beliefs. Warp manifestations are the result of turbulent and uncontrollable forces directly resulting from the Warp signature or "soul" given off by every human being. Humanity can't just will a god into existence because they believe he exists. At least, not as far as we know.

No, they couldn't.
Or they could had (and propably would had) put him in one, if the webway in the basement of the Imperial Palace wasn't breached by Magnus.

Now the Emperor is needed at the throne to ward off the daemons trying to spill to Terra through the compromised Webway portal, with Custodes killing any overspill.

Seems to work out okay for the Sisters of Battle. They worship the god who isn't a god and refused to be worshipped as one, and yet come out the other end with magical D&D Cleric Powers simply by faithing hard enough.

You kinda just proved yourself wrong. The Warp is powered by emotions and ideas, which are what become developed into Gods. The only special thing the Orks got goin' for 'em with the Warp is that their energies transmit better into the Warp. The fact of the matter is, after ten millenia of trillions if not quadrillions of human beings worshiping the idea of the God-Emperor, eventually some form of him would form. This entity is what causes those random miracles and saints you find throughout Imperial History.

Plus, Legion of the Damned. Did the Orks wish them into existence? It seems to me that the only logical way that the Legion of the Damned could exist and randomly appear in battles all across the galaxy is if they came from the Warp and had some kind of Warp entity protecting them from the predations of the Chaos Gods and/or Daemons.

If the Big E got slapped in a pocket mech, he'd be able to actually resume his plans. Dreds can speak, and could probably have attachments with the sort of digits one needs to use fine motor skills. Even though his Imperium wasn't much better, he'd be really mad to see how the Council was running stuff, and the Council probably knows it. On the throne, the Emperor can be controlled a lot easier.

So I'd probably say its because the Council of Terra realized things are actually pretty sweet for them without Emps around except in a token capacity to cement their claim to power. Also, nobody really understands how the Throne works. What if they pulled the plug to move the Emperor and couldn't turn the thing back on?
