The only drawback is the Elite Talent and the Captain named "Centurion" as he'll prevent you running the crew named "Centurion"

You are fine to run the Centurion captain and crew together. The rule book says you can't use 2 unique cards with the same names, but since 1 of them is not unique you are fine. Just like with the Combat Vessel Variant forbthe Suurok class. You can run to unique one from the OP ship and the non unique one from the retail, because it isn't 2 unique cards.

How about Disruptor Banks for up to 6 damage. I have wanted something like the Helmsman for a while, pull a reverse with a Warbird then Target Lock. Or even a come about with the Scimitar and Sensor Echo or Battle Staions with Mendak.

Yup.

The set is fantastic.

My build can get 9+ attack dice when attacking from cloak.

It's pretty lethal.

If anyone wants to know anything about it, let me know.

Yeah I know, I was pretty amazed we got Wave 11 one day after you guys, but SHOCKED we got this one first!

Considering Star Trek Online is considered canon now, I'd like to see some of their ships in STAW.

Iconian Fleet would be awesome.

The cards in the set are pretty sick.

This is my build:

Haakona
- Taris
- Admiral Hiren
- Tal
- 2x Romulan Security Officers

41 points, more firepower than a Borg Cube when combined with other ships and Donatra.

I was going to get 2 before I saw the cards today, but now I too am contemplating 3.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
With Romulan Security Officer and Helmsman there is actually a use for Livianna Charvanek from the Vorta Vor.

The only downside I see here is that the ship doesn't have a tech slot, but that can be mitigated with Valdor 6 and T'Rul.

I didn't see the interaction between Valdore and Haakona.

Advanced Cloak with this is going to be brutal.

She's a fine fine ship and all the cards, bar the entirely useless (and insanely long winded) elite talent, are amazing. I think I'll be picking up at least 3 sets of this ship, it rights so many wrongs.

I don't see much bad with the Romulan except that we need a filler ship between the Scout, Science, RBOP and the bigger Warbirds.

Very true, we do need a ship in the low 20s. But we were certainly lacking in action economy and this release does great things to bolster that aspect.

Something along the lines of the klingon birds stats and cloak would help us, unfortunately there isn't a ship like that in the fleet onscreen, unless we're going to open up the STonline game ships, then we'd have plenty of options.

The drone could have been that ship, it's really not though, it's a very odd and specific vessel and I personally am not a fan at all.

Such an amazing ship, really surprised at no Tech slot though considering every other D'Deridex has one. Still very good, and I guess if I really want the tech there is T'Rul, or Valdore 6. Wish it came with 2 copies of Disruptor Beams, but not too bothered it doesn't. At least it comes with a full complement of Security officers. Excited to get some use out of Livianna, The Enterprise Incident is right near the top of my favorite TOS episode list (Mirror, Mirror being first of course).

You can't put Advanced Cloak on the Haakona, look at its' upgrade bar - No tech slot.

Capt. Valdore that comes with the Drone Ship adds a Tech Slot...

Ergo, your interaction with Valdore and Haakona, Valdore gives it a Tech Slot...

You know at first I was kinda meh over Romulan Sub Lieutenant. It's 4pts, but then I thought not unique. Pricey for OPs but in casual games you could really screw with some Klingon players. Klingons usually spend points on ships and captains. So if you went for lower captains you could hit a Klingon ship with 2 of these guys and because Klinks only have 2-3 shields the will be stuck unable to cloak, no shields, and 1 defense die

Not overly effective but 1 of them could screw with Fed fighters.

Wow some of these cards seem a little unbalanced. Such as disruptor beams where you don't even need a target lock to use meaning your could get double re rolls with tactical officer and target lock along with all of the damage rolls. Also Taris ability seems broken with the ability to shoot in any direction just makes maneuvering less important. Also why is every one acting like this is finally a good Romulan pack. Romulans have had plenty of good ships before as well.

Mostly, on my phone.

Of all the"big" factions (and I say this as a dominion player) romulans have always been underpowered. Disruptor beam is not a torpedo, and isn't unbalanced; Taris is very good, but more than that it's great to see more choice. Perhaps I'm over optimistic, but I do feel like WK are going in a fixing, fluffier direction.

I'm just concerned that people are going to start to combo these cards in ways that will make it broken. Also I'm jealous of all the love romlunas have been getting lately. They got the easy button scimitar in November than the drone ship and now the haakona and then in august they get another valodore. Sure the dominion had fighters in december but there not really that overpowered. Besides the Reklar in may? which i don't think will really be that good. The dominion have nothing to look forward to.

This is another solid expansion for the Romulans, and I approve! Not that anyone needs my approval or anything...

Am I missing something on Taris? Her ability requires you to discard a crew upgrade. Not too many Romulan ships have more than one upgrade crew slot to begin with. And the crew you do take, you will want to use I would think at least a couple times. You could throw her on a Federation ship- those things have bonkers crew slots, but you could always just take a Dorsal Phaser Array... Don't get me wrong, I totally see the value of have a 360 degree weapon- but this one comes with a pretty high price attached to it. As for Captain Taris herself, I'd rank her after Donatra, Valdore, Shinzon, and Toreth (in that order).

The Disruptor Beams... wow. Just... wow. Not unique, and no extra points for out of faction. Will require serious errata though. For example, the Romulan player attacks with Disruptor Beams. He rolls the dice, modifies hits, and then his opponent rolls his evade dice. He modifies them, and then we'll say 2 [hits] and 1 [crit] make it through. The Romulan player gets to roll 3 more attack dice- do these go through the same dice modification steps as before, and does the opponent get to roll evade dice against these hits as well?

I think it would be funny as heck to run a Romulan Bird of Prey with Disruptor Pulse. What a nice little surprise, eh?

Taris seems pretty balanced. She is only skill 5 so a lot of people will shoot before her. You have to discard a crew to use her ability. Only Khazara, Haakona and Valdor have 3 crew slots. Bochra, Parhem, and N'Vek are about the only crew you would want to use for her ability, the rest of the Romulan crew are either too expensive or are better served staying on the ship, ie Tactical Officer. Tal might be another candidate to go out the airlock. So in reality she may use that ability twice a game three times if desperate, even to do that you would invest a minimum of 7 points into a 5 skill captain. That's not OP in my book.

Disruptor Beams work just like Quantum Torpedoes, the extra damage is added after both sides have modified dice. The extra dice are not an attack themselves you are just checking to see if you add the extra point of damage.

I wish they were Romulan only. In mixed venues they will replace what little already see of torpedoes because it doesn't require a TL and out of faction is the same cost as quantums.

As a Cardassian fan as well I am sad to say I yawn at the ReKlar...another Galor class is not going to help the dominion, lets just hope the cards are worth it.

Mr. S Baldrick I agree just how many times will you need to shoot out of arc? 2-3 max in a 6 round game but if someone really wants to waste extra points on that ability fine by me.

Well there were several voices calling another D'D an anticipated snoozefest for Romulans and we got a tasty ship. I like the Galor, it's the backbone ship of the faction and I'm thinking perhaps the Haakona just set a precedent for several factions to get a boost. I think Wizkids finally woke up to selling only borg spheres and decided to open the game right back up again.

Of course, what I... and more importantly Mrs S, are waiting on, is a fixed battleship with a terrifying Changling Admiral.
