Hello dere Orky numnuts I'll be honest. I don't really have a clue when it comes to playing Orks. But from my DE and Flyrant days, I know I like speed and I also know I like POWAH (Klaws). So I've crafted this short 1250 list that I'm hoping looks decent enough to hold it's own in games, thoughts appreciated Orks - Combined Arms Detachment HQ Zhadsnark 'Da Rippa' =150 Big Mek w/ Mega Armour, Boss Pole = 80 Troops 5x Zhadsnark's Warbikers w/ Boss Nob w/ Boss Pole, Power Klaw = 148 5x Zhadsnark's Warbikers w/ Boss Nob w/ Boss Pole, Power Klaw = 148 5x Zhadsnark's Warbikers w/ Boss Nob w/ Boss Pole, Power Klaw = 148 Elites 2x Meganobz w/ Boss Meganobz w/ Boss Pole. DT: Trukk w/ Rokkit Launchas, Reinforced Rams = 160 2x Meganobz w/ Boss Meganobz w/ Boss Pole. DT: Trukk w/ Rokkit Launchas, Reinforced Rams = 160 Heavy Support 11x Lootas = 154 5x Lobbas w/ 4x Ammo Runts = 102 =1250 Finally decided to min max it all after countless edits (as seen by the edits ) Lobbas are for sniping characters and co. Many bikers mean zoom zoom

What purpose does megamek serve you? I'd probably get more bikers in Zhadsnark's squad instead.
I'd also spread koptas and lootas.
Get ammo runts for lobbas. At least a couple.
I also think that so many pk nobz in tiny squads are a waste as they'd get focused down and you'll loosae hald of them on the way there. And pk/bp nobz aren'd exactly cheap. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, also, trukk's rokkit ain't twinlinked

Oh I'll edit the Trukk thing in Megamek gives SnP to the Lootas so they can move around and still shoot at BS2 (still not great BS but at least its not snap shots). I guess he also tanks for them if they are shot at.. I'll try and beef up the Warbiker units then if they would just get focused down, probably by removing some units. Would six in a unit work fine?

With 48" Lootas rarely have to move =) You can change megamek for another 5 Lootas and take them in two units 8+8.
Also you have too many PK (another side of me shouts that there can not be too many PK!!!), you can swap PK on all biker for Big Choppa and take 2x1 Warkoptas - they will help greatly with Maelstrom objects while your bikers and meganobz will be busy with da fightin'

But...but...POWAH I guess that would leave a healthy 70 pts or so. Two Deffkoptas and extra crew for Lobbas? Alternatively, I could turn one unit into three models and then have a large unit of 15 w/ Power Klaw and a Pain Boy on Bike (that Scout thanks to Zhadsnark). Deathstars aren't my cup of tea, but it's there as an option.

Any other suggestions? Maybe split the Lootas two units of 8 (dropping the Big Mek) and running Tankbustas in Trukks as opposed to MANz? Still love my MANz, it just looks like the list is lacking in anti-tank (unless PK are effective tools)..

Lobbas seem a bit large for a sniping squad. Also I can't confirm this but I think barrage rules makes it difficult to make use of ammo runs like you may think you are doing (please correct me on this if anyone knows better) but I think the closest gun fires first and you scatter from there. This would mean the only really important reroll is the lobby gun on point. If sniping is important to you then you may consider splitting lobbas.
Trukks carrying SnP bother me in a bike list. I feel like my trukks would be shot first and my enemy would mostly handle the bikes separately. Especially since those squads are soo small.
Ork squads have to be large to make the first leadership check require a commitment to shooting To cause it.
I think you want Moar bikes, and no meganobz.

[quote=I think you want Moar bikes, and no meganobz.
That is a piece of advice that I would take to heart. having just a few trukks will mean that they will be shot up before they can make it close to the enemy. Swap the Mega Nobz out and take another squad or two of bikes or deffkoptas.
If you desperately want to take Mega Nobz in a trukk, I would suggest buying as many trukks as you can fit into your list. drown your opponent in squads of 12 boyz with a PK in trukks with rokkit launchas and nothing else. The trukks then become a pack of tank hunters and mobile cover that harass the enemy.
I have found that ork armies do not lack for anti-infantry firepower, the lobbas seem redundant. Try swapping them for one of the mekk gunz that gives a chance to deal with higher armour saves or vehicles, like the kannon if you're cheap or the kustom mega kannon.

Oh I had the lobbas for sniping as stated above I'll see what my list needs if it requires something other than sniping. I guess I could always challenge that special character out
Should I have a large unit and Painboy on Bike with Zhadsnark (which would have skilled rider, 2 PK and FnP) or use smaller squads of 6 to dilute firepower? Or maybe bump up those squads? So new to Orks

If Zhadsnark is leading your army you cannot take big guns AFAIK. I think this would include lobbas.

Ahh I thought Mek Gunz were exempt as they were listed as Mek Gunz, not Big Gunz. Who knows, maybe when they re-release Zhadsnarks rules maybe it'll be updated. For the time being I'll play it safe.
So I actually have 102 points to spend! And with the current suggestion for more bikes less MANz, I've got about 427 points or so...standby by for a revision.
Any thoughts on what to include? Lootas, Deffkoptas, Kommandos? What makes a bike list better? (More bikes are on the cards no doubt)

Zhadsnark's unit should be as big as possible. He gives them skilled rider, which means that they get to ignore terrain, and have a 2+ jink when they move flat out. Deffkoptas work well with Zhadsnark, since they can scout along with him. If you feel like you want him in a hurky unit, upgrade the guys hes with to nob bikers.
Sometimes, when I'm feeling particularly trollish, and in larger games, I take a unit with regular bikers, Zhad, a painboy, and another warboss or two on a bik, sometimes with big choppas, sometimes with other stuff. The bike gives them t6, meaning all of a sudden you have a nasty unit of essentially monstrous creatures running around on bikes, ignoring dangerous terrain and swinging an I4 powerklaw, plus do NOT forget to slide DLS in there to give the entire mob +1WS and that one boss a rerollable save. A rerollable 2+ jink save, backed by FnP.

Fair comment. What would be a good size without spending too many points into it and how big should the smaller units be?
And is it worth going either Waaagh Detachment or double CAD for Zhadsnark, Bikerboss and Painbiker?

How does zhardsnark give a 2+ cover save?
I can only see in the rules him getting a 3+, 4+ from jink and +1 from skilled rider.
Just wondering, thanks!

Exhaust fumes give +1 to cover save from Turbo-Boosting
There's also Stealth from Nightfighting if it's rolled which would let you shoot and still have a 2+ cover

I checked the dreadmob.pdf where i presume he is coming from.
Exhaust cloud says he gets jink, doesnt say anything about plus 1.
Unless theres something im missing or not reading.
I have a zhardsnark model and need to proove to my friend i get a 2+ save before he whines

I think I mind lapsed.
Those rules sound out of date to be honest since Jink comes from being a bike unit
Warbikes in the Codex have a +1 when turbo boosting I think that's where I came to my conclusion

Ok, that makes sense.
Only small niggle i have is that the dredmob.pdf doesnt say he has a "warbike" it just says hes a bike unit
So i presume if the majority of his unit have warbikes then they get a 2+ cover save. but if he somehow ends up on his own he'd have a 3+?
I'm still new to this game but i presume thats right?

If you read the "Special Rules" in the dread mob, it says specifically he has Exhaust Cloud.
I play warbikers all the time. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, yeah. Exhaust cloud gave warbikers a jink save before there WAS jink. So, to keep the warbikers going, they changed the rules to improve the already existing save

Your zhadsnark unit should be a bit beefy, but otherwise I usually put 9 in a unit. That way, I have a handful of small units so my opponenet cant just focus fire, and he still needs to kill 3 to force a LD test.
If you MUST do MSU, then I'd run several small 4 Biker + Nob w/BP, BC, plus a few bigger ones with PKs.

So maybe something like: Zhardsnark = 150 Painboy w/ Warbike = 75 4x Warbikers w/ Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Big Choppa = 110 4x Warbikers w/ Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Big Choppa = 110 4x Warbikers w/ Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Big Choppa = 110 9x Warbikers w/ Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Power Klaw = 220 10x Lootas = 140 10x Lootas = 140 Would come to 1055. Is this a good base? If so, what would supplment the list? Kommandoes? Deffkoptas? Stormboyz? Flyer? Moar Power Klaws or Bikes (hahaha :'))

A great base!
Split the lootas into something smaller, like 9. Its easy to run lootas off, and the bigger the unit the more attractive it will be as a target. Use the points for another biker or two. Or, whittle them down to 8 each, and use the points to buff one of the biker squads and add a klaw in there. But thats more a preference thing that a necessity.
When I run biker lists, I usually back them with boyz n wagons. The bikers give the wagons a cover save, and battlewagons are rought enough to survive getting shot up a bit. However, with the way your list is trending, I'd prolly aim more for deffkoptas. More scouting units means less pressure off Zhadsnark when he takes that first jump forward. Kommandos can be good too, if used as anti-infantry.
Stormboys could also be pretty neat. I havent used them much since the newest codex, but they seem pretty excellent. The ability to leapfrog terrain and intervening models is pretty nice, and they got cheaper. If you did take them, I reccommend taking a great big blob of them, and running them amidst your bikers. Automatically Appended Next Post: A blitza bomma wouldnt be bad either, to ace backfield stuffs.

So after finally deliberating weighing up the options and hopefully calculating it right, this is what I have:
Zhardsnark = 150
Painboy w/ Bike = 75
4x Warbikers w/ Boss Nob, Big Choppa, Boss Pole = 110
4x Warbikers w/ Boss Nob, Big Choppa, Boss Pole = 110
10x Warbikers w/ Boss Nob, Power Klaw, Boss Pole = 238
Deffkoptas x3 w/ Rokkit Launchas = 90
Deffkoptas x3 w/ Rokkit Launchas = 90
Blitzabomber = 135
9x Lootas = 126
9x Lootas = 126
Had to drop a small unit of Bikes to fit the Koptas in, but it can easily be made up if 3 man squads of Deffkoptas are too much...
