Of course they would never be accepted back into the Imperium, as they would still kill them, but could devotees of Chaos renounce the ruinous powers and fight against them or even decide to follow the Emperor once again (they would still be renegades to the Imperium).

Yes - there have been several examples of this in the history of the game, and (more specifically) a lot of the Fallen Angels are supposed to be so - having turned against the Lion rather than the Emperor and not really understood what was going on until it was too late.

Yes, yes you can. Unfortunately, it is exceedingly rare and, it would take insane amounts of discipline and strength to leave it. - much like quitting crack or heroin.

Who would even want to go with the stinky Emperor? The moment I found myself even unconsciously wanting to go Loyal, I would ceremoniously offer myself for sacrifice just to atone for my foul thoughts. Maybe this way I could avoid spawnhood bestowed upon me by the displeased Gods.

you forget once you "sign" a deal with Chaos gods, back out the consequences are very bad and Chaos does not forget its oaths.
Displeased gods get very nasty, and there power is basically infinite vs a space marine.
being captured by the dark angels and tortured by the Chaplains would be a nice way out compared to what the chaos gods could come up with,

I would say quitting crack or heroin would be a tad easier In all seriousness though with those drugs, if you apply yourself, are motivated enough and are willing to have flu like symptoms for a month or so you'll be fine (alcohol is a bit more dangerous but you get the general idea). The main difference with chaos is that it can be a number of years before the individual can even know they where corrupted, by the time they notice they themselves and their personality has changed too much for them to even wish to leave chaos. With the fallen angels many who turned away from chaos was before they became too corrupted.
Basically the more you are corrupted by chaos the harder it is to resist them and leave. Most chaos space marines you see will be far too corrupted, the only ones who have the possibility of being saved are those who's chapters have more recently gone over to chaos, which still happens in the games current time frame.

The Ruinous Powers don't actually see much of a difference between Daemon Princedom and Spawnhood. They're both Gifts of Chaos and the gods are capricious.

Yes, heretics can confess their sins and repent, after which they may still share in the Emperor's mercy and join him in the afterlife.

I'm not an expert of Deathwatch's fluff, but imo Black Shields are not renegades that wish to repent, but rather loyalist elements of renegade chapters.

I think the main question here is "redeemed in who's view?"
Given that: "Of course they would never be accepted back into the Imperium"
Who is doing the redeeming?

Well, considering the fact that mortals only promise their souls to the Dark Gods when worshiping them ( the Lost and the Damned), this wouldn't be an issue.

Horus, Luther, and Fulgrim have all had moments where they regret their actions but true "redemption" is impossible once corrupted. They will eventually revert back to their corrupt selves. That is why the only mercy is killing them during their sympathetic moments.

No they don't. Once they've been corrupted by Chaos they're gone for good. Even if they help with the war effort they will be summarily executed by a bolt to the head.

The soul drinkers , in the soul drinkers omnibus, were physically corrupted by chaos, but managed to shake off total chaos enslavement.
I can't imagine the same being said for most chaos marines.

Actually, they are for Space Marines whose brothers turned away from the Emperor's Grace. They are the guys who decided not to go renegade and are ashamed of their brother's treason.

You are aware that once you are dedicated to a single chaos God, you cannot leave it.
The reason that the Black Legion was decimated after the Horus heresy was not because the loyalists killed the,, but because they let themselves get possessed by a single God, changed allegiance and then the previous God went. "Well feth you." And killed them.
