Subject: Dawn of War inspired terrain on Kickstarter, 6 days left, project officially FUNDED! :)
I've been doing painting for Brush 4 Hire for going on 4 years now and I'll actually be the guy painting the terrain for the pledge levels that offer painting! Let us know what you think

That guy has a beard and a half. I like the not-Dawn of War Space Marine buildings. This kickstarter is a lot less confused than the last one, which sort of had loads of different products in it. I'd be more interested if not for the big question mark over the shipping cost.

It corresponds with a new product release, which is most likely meant to be cut by the new lasers. Yes that does fall within Kickstarter area as most MDF terrain projects started and did precisely that. It is similar to a couple miniatures lines that purchased a 3d printer to do their masters for their resin models as well.

Totally. You're helping them fund the expansion of their business, and getting some product in exchange.
Not in a place to be picking up terrain at the moment (gotta love apartment living), but this looks to be the start of a nice product line. Best of luck!

I think the little DoW buildings are quite smart and adorable (yes, I said adorable as they are really bringing back the slightly cartoony DoW1 nostalgia that's dear to my chaos-warped hearts)
And completely off topic, and I have to say it, that is a majestic set of whiskers right there.

lol, I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not..
I always thought businesses and even individuals who need to raise money to do something was the point and the rewards were supposed to be the icing on the cake.. Kinda like donating to PBS.. you get a mug, a blanket, a boxed set of whatever.. Miniature gaming is different because it's usually very on the nose.. "we're making this so this is what you get". People have kickstarted trips around the world to take photos with rewards as things like mugs and pens and keychains and crap.
I'm all for goal x that is about growing the business not being equal to reward y... so long as I get the reward or they are definitely doing what it was backed for.
A perfect example..
Megabots. I backed that for a poster, T-shirt, a sticker, and .. I am not even sure what else. The project is not about that..it's about building a giant robot.. that stuff was just a "thanks" for contributing to the actual goal.
Our ambitions for this project are big, the new machines would almost double our current production size and the location will allow us to have a more streamlined production area as well as some space for additional projects as well.
In addition to the bigger machines helping with production it will also help us out in another way as well, potentially bigger kits, the size of the operating space inside the new machines is larger than what we currently have.
Thanks for the feedback guys, hope the Kick Starter goes well

If you have a specific question about shipping feel free to toss us a message, we should be able to address that for you. The major issue here is that the MDF has some weight to it and that, coupled with location and how much of the rewards one receives, has an impact on the overall shipping costs.

Honestly, Chief, I need some City of Heroes inspired terrain.
That and City of Villains.
8X8 board of heavy industrial cityscape., maybe a park, with some plaques and statues, and an subway/ railcar system.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I mulled it over and thought about it, and... I'm in! I just pledged for the $100 level of Rapid Vanguard terrain. I've actually been wanting Dawn of War-esque buildings for a long time, and given their low poly nature I'm surprised nobody's made anything that looked much like them in MDF.
I do have a question though - will this terrain (and some other things you showed, like the landing pad I'd need to make a proper chapel barracks) be available after the Kickstarter? Even if the stretch goal for that landing pad doesn't get met, I'd definitely want to get one.

Once all of the pledges have received their rewards the DoW inspired line will be available on our website

Also, the vid is well done, and you guys come across as a company that knows what it is doing, and just trying to secure funding to take it to the next level.
(as opposed to a lot of kickstarters that have no business/production experience, and have completely unrealistic goals).

Thanks, we definitely try to take that extra time to come across polished and professional

But do these come pre painted or?
They come unassembled and unpainted. We have a few pledge levels that offer painting. =)
They've got new add-ons, which I think will make for some really great expansions on their buildings:
That landing pad with the barracks building would make for a pretty close approximation of the Dawn of War chapel barracks, which has me particularly excited:

I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone does with the paint jobs for the terrain once it launches
Very nice. I was pretty much unconvinced the first time I saw the kickstarter, but with the new stuff everything is starting to come together nicely.
The landing pad would be a nice addition to a ZM board.
8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.
8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.
Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

It is also a nice (affordable) alternative to the traditional GW Skyshield landing pad as well
Definitely, though to get the same benefits you'd have to find a way to elevate it. The landing pad is really just a hangar door into an underground facility, haha.
Anyway I found a new problem, shipping to Europe is pretty ridiculous. 67$ minimum for one base set, or 80-90$ flat rate. Argh.

I mentioned the elevation thing to Austin, definitely the only issue with using it as a 'count-as' terrain piece.
As for shipping, we've had several other potential clients/backers with similar issues. I believe Austin suggested checking with a local retailer to see if they might want to back the kickstarter (bigger discount for retail backers) to help offset the cost and to help get a bulk amount of product over the waters. This isn't super easy since the store would have to be convinced but if there was a big enough following/demand from the local patrons I can see where this option might be helpful to some degree.
I'm actually happy about the elevation. Like I mentioned, it would be absolutely perfect for the big empty ZM tiles.
I'm going to see if other people here might be interested in making a group order, but that might be a hard sell :(

We have the $190 pledge level (why not both I think is the name). Saves you $10 bucks and if one of you wanted the DoW themed stuff and the other the Infinity that would be a good way to split the costs/shipping.
